But I think this time he actually means it cause Justin gave him a chance when he didn't have to. If not for this fight people would have written Max off and he would probably never have gotten a title fight again.@@oldmedstudent1750
It is insane that max is only 32. To have accomplished all that he has done already is literally worth 2 hall of fame careers. And max isn’t even done or close to being done yet.
I love his nickname blessed because that is exactly how I feel having gotten to see him, as he phrased it, grow up I front of us. He was legend and veteran before 30. What an incredible career
Fighters can be "done" with just one fight. All it takes is one bad KO, and that's it. Mike Tyson being the prime example. After Buster Douglas, he was never the same again. Same for Meldrick Taylor. After he fought Chavez, he was never the same again.
My loudest UFC related scream was when Bisping beat Rockhold to win the belt. Max face-planting Justin with 1 second left in the fight is definitely a very close 2nd. Max is a freakin warrior. Great dude too.
Max is Hawaii's finest and fighter that represents the islands from Oahu .😅He's a warrior but still a human being not perfect, love the man he has become with his wife and ohana. Our beloved warrior y'know the song Oh..Hawaiian KickBoxer. Max bless Holloway. Much Aloha love you bradda.
Holloway is in a different class than Ferg with all respect. he never has been KOd his chin his the key thing. Justin landed a clean overhand right directly onto Maxs chin right before Max knocked him out it didnt even faze him thats the same guy who Khabib said hit the hardest who he ever fought
On par with the mcgrogor Aldo ko for a title and the masvidal vs askren ko for fastest ko as one of best kos of all time tbh when you consider how holy shit it was.
Dude same. Oh my lord. I keep watching events from all major organizations and just feels like there's a hole. I watch the Max fight after watching each event came later. 😅 We're nuts.
Before the Gaetje knockdown, Max absorbed 1100+ strikes over a span of 12 year UFC career, and never got dropped. Jon Jones comes in at 2nd with 750 absorbed and not getting knocked down.
Max always comes across well in interviews. He seems to be such a pleasant human being to be around. Sense of humour, self-awareness, shows respect to his opponents in victory and defeat. I've never heard anyone say a bad word about Max. Hope he continues to fight well and get paid.
Me too!! I cannot bring myself to watch the fight again. I have watched all of Justin’s fights so many times that I can even quote the announcers. “ Big right from Gaethje” “This is why we came to Philly boys” JG supporter for the rest of my life. He is the best ever and you can never change my mind.
I thought Max was not going to withstand the volume of hits from guys like Justin but Max kept the pressure but also his distance until the last 10 secs where we went after volume and got the craziest KO. Kudos. This is like a leopard beating a lioness. Crazy feat.
5:06 rogan insinuating that the idea of somebody’s chin deteriorating is “ridiculous”. But then constantly contradicts himself by bringing up chuck liddel and Tony Ferguson.
He was talking about Max specifically. In the past he’s talked about fighters having a certain amount of punches your chin could take before it turns to glass. He’s mentioned Chuck Liddell and Tony Ferguson dealing with that in the past.
Max is real life legend / I can’t think of another warrior with his experience in the ufc and in his prime. Real life active goat 🐐. Never missed a Holloway fight. One of the best if not the best hands in the promotion.
What's wild about Max is that his chin is still rock solid, despite his already storied career. And when you look back on his résumé, it feels like he's been fighting forever, even though he's only 32.
It's crazy that he has most strikes landed and absorbed by a long shot but those that are closest have been long since retired. He'll have records set that will never be broken by the time he retires.
I´ve got a screenshot of conversation with my brother. He was saying Justin by K.O and I responded with "Max is going to bring out the old Gaethje and knock him out". When I saw it happen I got chills. Right after I did 10 laps around my house. What a legendary fight!!
No need to apologize. A lott of people consider him punchdrunk and not as sharp as he used to be, but max inside the ring has always improved. The only reason I had money on a Ko was because of how long I've followed his career
I remember before the fight, grabbing some beers with my dead and telling him how much I was feeling Max was going to get KO and that I felt so bad about that. You can imagine how much I screamed and in shock I was when he sent Justin to the 5th realm, not the mention how he domiinated the whole shit. I was in shock the entire fight.
Anyone who thought Max was going to lose doesn’t know mma very well. Gaethje is not a smart fighter but a brawler, Max is as smart as they come in the octagon. That fight was over after the first round
What I slept on was how much more power Max would get from going up to LW. I thought Justin would knock him out as he hits like a middleweight. I had a good feeling Max could win by fighting smart, but I did not expect him to do so much damage w the hands. I'm a huge Max fan, so I was happy to see it. Also was there in person and it was insane as shit.
Yes, been waiting for this as soon it was called out at the ring. As a Waianae boy like Max who was busted up in my first street fight as a kid I relate to his life journey. But I bet I was younger than Max. I had my nose broken at 5 yrs old by a 10yr old Michael Perreia, bu I own you one. Thanks Joe for this show.
IMO Max is a candidate for the GOAT discussion. Sure he lost a couple fights, but what he achieved and the way he reinvented himself over more than a decade. That guy is one of the reasons I'm watching this sport.
good lawd! Max has been fighting for over a good decade now 😳 and still kicking ass I could’ve wished the same life for myself 😅 PROTECT YOUR BRAIN ☝🏽🫠
Called it man... def was counted out also. But you can never count out Max Holloway. Dude has some of the slickest striking in the game. Crafty highly skilled vet... one of the best to ever do it.
The problem is it used to be when you lost a fight or two that was it now you can lose 10 fights and for some reason you still get to fight that's not how it's been in the past you lose one or two or three and you're gone
