Wow, their humor and sketches were awesome back then! I don't think i've ever seen one of the musical guests interact with their comedy like that before.
It's been ages so I don't recall the specifics, but I remember one time a member of Super Furry Animals was stuck under that giant whale prop they used to have on the show in the early 2000s.
@@patrickwhelpley1745 They weren't funny. That episode sucked. But it did have the classic "I don't even know anymore" line. But, seriously, that episode was a turd and has dated terribly. It was probably the first episode where I thought, "They're trying too hard" and instigated the useless youth-courting celebrity cameos.

I went to a taping of Conan once and sat right behind the band about five feet from Max. I've never seen talent like that up close, I really couldn't believe my eyes watching him play. He was unbelievable and it seemed so effortless for him.
Yeah, my favorite was when he and Conan would have this random exchange where they would talk excitedly about some inane thing going on in some dumb tv show or whatever, and then they would stop and just stare at each other, and the camera would cut back and forth between their glum, dead faces.
It seems that they took the actual performance, and the inserted the comedic bits and reactions at another moment (during the rehearsal possibly). It's edited.
The drummer is Matt Walker from Filter. Chamberlain was booted out of the band at the time because of a heroine overdose that almost killed him and did kill their traveling keyboardist Jonathon Melvoin.
I swear they did a sketch like this with Blues Traveler on the same episode as that ice cream truck segment, and used some corny green screen special effect that creeped the heap out of me back in 1997 or whenever.
everyone thinks that the pumpkins are really serious but they’re not, they’re as goofy as every other band😅 they just cared a lot about their image so it sucks that you have to dig a little to see them being themselves

Yes he is 25 years older then her, and while you may feel however you feel about it, comparing it to marrying a 6 year old is absurd. I agree that you could list a lot of disgusting people and Billy Corgan would also be on that list. But most of the other disgusting creeps didn't name their kid Augustus Juppiter and brag about beating up a trans woman on their blog. I also agree it bothers me more with him than it does with, say, Stephen Fry and his husband, with a slightly bigger age gap, because I have a harder time imagining Stephen Fry as an emotionally abusive control freak with no empathy and infinite self-regard than I do Mr. Ogilala. I'm sorry, I really looked up to the man for one year between 1998 and beginning of 1999 when I was in middle school but I am actively upset about it. There was absolutely no reason for Max to be jealous. JIMMY CHAMBERLAIN wasn't Smashing Pumpkins drummer then. Their replacement drummer can't hold a candle to Jimmy. As a matter of fact, the sketch of Max's jealousy doesn't work BECAUSE JIMMY ISN'T IN THE BAND. LOL
I don’t know about the timeline of this. Yes Jimmy was out, but he was out also on Ava adore. Even the date is in line for that album. Melancholy was in 95. To me, it’s weird that they wouldn’t be promoting the adore album. Which i love, but Sadness I guess was definitely more commercial… as much as you could say they were that.
This is the 25th of February 1997, they just finished the Mellon Collie tour on the 5th of February, and wouldn’t tour again until May of 1998 for Adore.

Max being jealeous when he was the drummer in E Street Band and Meatloaf was comedic gold. This man played at the inauguration of President Bill Clinton.
