Road Warrior is LEVELS above Fury Road...it's highly more realistic (stunts, very little special effects, NATURAL COLORS from a REAL ENVIROMENT), you really feel the sense of scarcety and the apocaliptic scenery and Mad Max looks more vulnerable and human and also it has way cooler bad guys

I agree. The car was a main character in the movie! To @Paul77ozee I agree with you too. Then a big part of the movie was Max riding around as a captive hood-ornament. Not the Max I admired. To @user-cs4fg1rm5k the Ferrari was a kit-car replica, so 'Whew!' on that one. Loved Elwood's reaction when the Bluesmobile gave its last!

This movie is the story of Max, told by the kid, now an old man and leader of his people. Fury road is the story of Max, and how he shaped the future of the Citadel as told from their perspective. Thunderdome is essentially the same. They are fables about this man, Max, who interacted with, and shaped societies in the wasteland. The timeline and the details get mashed together over the tellings.

@saccamadiqeu2600 A Boy and His Dog certainly influenced Dr. Miller and his movies, but Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior influenced the world. It's endlessly referenced and riffed on to this day. It kept Italian studios busy for years, cranking out ripoffs. Fallout, Boarderlands, Twisted Metal, Interstate 76, Waterworld....South Park has parodied it, Phil Collins stuck it in a video... When the average person thinks "post apocalyptic," it's the MM2 asthetic they imagine. (No shade on Ellison.)

What's nice is that the first Mad max shows us how society is already breaking down. That's something rarely shown in dystopias or post-apocalyptic stories. Usually we just see the broken world. In Mad Max we see the beginning, after it broke down in this one you've seen the world more broken in 'Fury Road'. And then there is 'Beyond Thunderdome'.

Wells was the bad guy in Schwartenegger's "Commando" and in "Inner Space" He was also in Fortress (1985), and Weird Science (1985) as Lord General Bruce Spence - the Gyro-captain (not a helicopter) is a NZ-born actor. The V8 interceptor is like the sword of Excalibur. The Mad Max stories are similar to the King Arthur mythological legends, which are all blurred by the different retellings from everyone's perspectives. You have to watch the third film for it to make sense. Since the release of the 4th film and now a 5th with Furiousa, the story timelines are not in chronological order. It's becoming a saga. The two first films are the best.

You will see Bruce Spence, the auto-gyro pilot, again in Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome and you will be confused. As I stated before, Miller has said that all these movies represent stories told far in the future about Max and his adventures. Max has become a legend by then, therefore different re-tellings of the oral history will contain inconsistencies. The third installment features the late, great, Tina Turner as Max's adversary, and IMO she is the only antagonist who is not really a villain, but a non-villainous antagonist.

It's George Miller's trademark to re introduce actors as different characters in the Mad Max franchise. Benno (the simple son in woods when Max's miso went to beach) from MM1 was one of the guys tied up front of vehicle in MM2. The Toe Cutter in MM1 was Important Joe in FR. Slit in FR played Scrotus in Furiousa.

As someone said after you watched the first Mad Max only days ago - the creator of this (George Miller) only had just over $300k to spend on it. But due to it's actual success - and suddenly becoming a cult classic it raked in around $100m worldwide - (not counting any video sales/DVD sales later - So, he made MM2 - The Road Warrior which cost about $4m AUS to make - as he naturally had more funding available to use for this one - sadly, and who knows why? This one did not do as well as the first film - but still made over 12 times its cost - grossing $50+m WW at box office & any later after sales). So, MM3 then came about "Beyond Thunderdome" - which cost $12m to make - and it still made treble its cost with roughly $36+m - (again not counting any after sales monies made?) . . . As for the more recent Mad Max Fury Road film - not actually made by Kennedy/Miller - (But, via Warner Bros, etc, but directed by Miller) - the films budget was said to be between $154-185m - and it grossed $380+m - so only making just over twice what it cost . . .And as for, "Furiosa", which appears to be the prequel to Fury Road, only time will tell as to what it will have cost to make and what it may make on it over time as well . . .?

I like how ambiguous the timeline is. The war they speak of at the beginning? For all we know it might have been World War 2. The disaster that killed or is killing society is not specified, it's all mythical. In the 80s we could imagine it's a nuclear war, today we can imagine it's climate change. It doesn't really matter how, the point is that we screwed up and destroyed it all.
@ClaytonMacleod

It’s not WW II, and it’s not that ambiguous. Go to the RU-vid channel called Mad Max Bible and watch the timeline videos there. The story with the interceptor is that it gets wrecked in this one, as you saw. Then in the third film Max is scavenging parts to build a new one. This is only hinted at in Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, but is more fully fleshed out in the pre-Fury Road comics and video game. I saw George Miller talk at length about this idea and how the interceptor is something that Max really clings to because of what it represents - it's the only point of contact he has to when he was last "alive". So the car he has in Fury Road is a recreation of the original he's building himself.

At the beginning prologue about learning to live again, Max already knows how to survive just fine, and what it ends up being even from his more reserved, restrained standpoint is its still a pretty selfish path, he loses track of where he lies vs the marauding antagonists he faces, he's not ruthless to the defenseless like they are, but the idea is that despite survival, that living again means going against survivability to risk one's own survival in order to live, for a principle of what living over just survival is about, Max is grappling with who he used to be as a cop, and what it cost him then, and what its costing him now to not be like he was, he hasn't just written off the bands of raiders as human beings, but he's also condemned the chances of the still relatively civilized people making it without help, and that he won't risk that help being his, he's unwilling to take risks for those who remain who aren't like them but usually the victims, part of it is they like him aren't sadistic and thuggish, greedy in nature, but also that they aren't hard set enough, able to fight back as well as he can, that they are targeted for being weak and vulnerable and even humanely merciful on some level.

1. This is the best. Including "Fury Road". That movie proves there can be too much CGI. 2. The hot blonde chick the copter man was chasing 3. Max not staying with those people left the door open for another adventure. 4. One of the spectacular stunts in the film, in which one of the motorcycle-riding raiders hits a car, flies off the bike, smashes his legs against the car, and cartwheels through the air towards the camera, was actually a genuine and nearly fatal accident. The stuntman was supposed to just fly over the car without hitting it. He survived, but his leg was broken badly. The moment looked so dramatic that it was kept in the film. 5. When Humongous gets his I go, "Couldn't happen to a nicer guy".

Director George Miller said in an interview that he had been surprised by the success of Mad Max. Someone told him about Japanese Samurai films, that the ideas were similar. So he watched a lot of Samurai and arrived at this formula for Road Warriors (that was working title when released in the U.S.). Hero/stranger comes into town, saves town from villains, rides into sunset, always the loner. Westerns also, High Plains Drifter, etc

Now both of yous have to complete the Mad Max universe as do Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome. With Beyond Thunderdome, what you need to remember that like with Mad Max (1979), and Mad Max: Furieosa, it is a plot heavy movie. Although it is just as loved as the rest of the Mad Max movies, but it is the most problematic because it has the least amount of action, and what action there is in the movie has more of a comedic elements to it.

Max's world falls apart due to runing out of crude oil. The only economic means of energy. Fury Road was originally to take place 20 years after Mad Max ThuderDrome.

But beyond thunderdome is after this with Tina Turna then Fury Road but this is the best mad Max out of all. Fury Road was ok but there wasn’t much to it now Furisona is got her own movie attached to Mad Max Mel Gibson didn’t do Fury Road and Charaz Theron and Tom Hardy did not get along she said she would never work with him again on any movie it was supposed to be mad in Australia however in the outback were they picked hadn’t rained in 30 years until they went to shoot fury road so they moved it to Nambia Africa in the 1st mad max the guy who’s the boss of the motorcycle gang actually plays immortal Joe 😂😊

I know people like the first and the second ( which is correct in ways ), but the next one has a special place in my view because I watched it first before the first one, and this one..Beyond Thunder dome is more family focused yet still has good action.. and I'm a fan of the lady leader ( Savsnnah nixx ) of the tribe of people in Beyond thunderdome..😃. Hot hot legs 😃
