Max Payne Speedrun - DoA difficulty - [ 

There was something disturbingly familiar about the letter before me. The handwriting was all pretty curves. "You're in a speedrun, Max" The truth was a blazing green chasm in my head. Running past my enemies, rolling to my destinations, using glitches to reach impossible speeds and heights. I was in a speedrun. Funny as hell, It was the most horrible thing I could think of.

31:38 I love that scene where the two blonde spooks kill that technician and go "I think he's dead already". They shoot forward for about fifteen seconds and never change their aim to account for the victim being dead and not standing up anymore. They're even aiming above their eye level. They've got these angry looks on their faces while they unload full mags in to thin air. Looks ridiculous.

This speedrun just turned my entire childhood upside down. Insanely impressive.

Of all the speedruns I have seen, I feel like this is the one that requires the most knowledge of the game to be accomplished. Awesome run dude, it's unfortunate you didn't do one for Max Payne 2, that would have been awesome to see.

Constant inane babble, screams of rage when I die and return that aren't from me, constant freezes in time while the video buffers. I was in a RU-vid video. cut ridd3r some slack. people griping about bugs and glitches should really look up summoningsalt’s videos...he documents the history of certain games’ speedruns and the subsequent speedrunners who defined the history of those games online. people don’t understand I think how difficult it is to perfect glitches and bugs within a game to perform them as perfectly as ridd3r or many other speedrunners do. glitches and warps are accepted for most games and given their own category in speedruns, so it’s not cheating by any speedrunning standard either. what ridd3r did is pretty fucking cool and I’m sure took hours of gameplay...Thanks for sharing this with us. I couldn’t sleep and wanted to rewatch gameplay of one of my favorite childhood games and I got to see this amazing spectacle because of it. Kudos to you and all the work you put into it

in train cutscene he fell - because tre train pushed him, smth like that. So, that was enough damage for max to die. But you can't die in a cutscene, so we have the walking dead, and enemies think that you are already dead

@HuskyTdC I was skipping a cutscene. It occurs there because I skip the killer suits at the mona cutscene. The killersuits end up running into the laser fields for some reason.

I was wondering if there is a time for a no-glitch speedrun. I am interested in trying a time in this category of run.

I just finished the game for the first time and noticed that you seem to get boosted when strafe running off the edge of an object into the air and I'm surprised it isn't abused more in a run. Am I incorrect about the benefit? Or does the jumping to get onto an object and the landing animation afterward or something else negate any benefit that would be gained? Also I thought rolling while pointing the camera up rather than down in the dream sequence seemed faster, am I incorrect about that too?

By nullifying the greatness of the story, I now grant you the "Genious" title! Jokes aside, this is really genious. Like if i read the whole Harry Potter franchise in an hour or two. "...then he kills Voldemort, then he arises and again..."

Rolling is significantly quicker for pro2 & pro3, I've tested it several times. You can skip several cutscenes in pro1, but super jumping skips all but one and saves a couple of seconds on the stairs. Unless you're saying you can skip that cutscene?

@zackyee1 No it's not a TAS, this run specifically took me about 130-150 hours. Obviously I've done other runs etc. and spent more time than that on this game.

I was just speculating, in the video I saw that you usually switched weapons and used bullet time whenever you highjumped so I thought that's how it worked, I was wrong tho, can you tell me how you do it?

Played this so much back when I was coming out of high school/starting college. Don't know how I could get so much done and still play hundreds of hours. Good times.

@FatGingerKid5 It has been verified and accepted, just waiting for it to be posted (should be next PC update). I don't cut off anything relevant. All saves and reloads are shown, I just cut out the messing around in between.

i love it how you cut some missions like the mission before the last: you skip 2 floors at the beginning, it takes you 5 secs to get there without cutting it takes about 5 mins or longer then 25:38 that jump is awesome, you actually cut the whole mission! 10:16 why dont you die from that height? is that because of the endscene? then in max' first nightmare: is side rolling faster then front rolling? same in second?

How do you activate the super jumps?
