I may not need a Sephiroth origin story but I'd be lying if I wasn't a little interested in how he got turned the complete other way. The Nibelheim events in the original game didn't give me the impression he was a sociable type and far more on the stoic side even as a seemingly good person, so I was kind of surprised he seemed a little falliable and more outgoing in that brief flashback during the trailer, though it's when he's probably even younger
My thoughts are, that’s the main reason sephiroth turned. It’s almost like he gives himself constant ultimatums. It’s great writing and I often find myself posed with sephiroth. But also sympathetic.
I mean there are better FF villains like Emet-Slech or Ardyn (or Kefka like you mentioned), but no one can deny that Sephiroth did have an impact inside and outside the medium.@@captainspaz8465

Not a fan of heroic-washing an iconic villain in any story, it doesnt matter how main stream it gets. Whats the point in having a Legendary Villain, it really takes away the great impact they made as a villain. NEXT will be, Capcom with young Bison alluding that Bison was bever bad like we all were lead to believe.
Part of the reason why I didn't like Crisis Core. It took agency away from Sephiroth and put his turn to evil in Genesis, some fuckin nobody whose entire personality was reciting shitty nonsensical poetry. I won't mind if Sephiroth's backstory is about his own disillusion with heroism. Sephiroth isn't Zack, and I don't think he'll have the same idealism. I don't think Square Enix has the balls for it, but for me the ideal Sephiroth backstory would be the disillusionment with the Shinra military. Give us the FF version of Apocalypse Now, Heart of Darkness, Spec Ops: the Line. Young Sephiroth having to commit atrocities in Wutai, just for Shinra's mako profiteering. The original FF7 didn't shy away from criticizing imperialism and the inhumanity of corporatism, it's one of the (many, many) things that that made it better than the cheesy, childish compilation titles. Give us the story of a bright kid who knows how strong he is, sees it as a benefit, and then learns just what that amount of power means to nation he is ordered to subjugate. His turn against humanity later on makes much more sense when he's already seen the worst of human atrocity. No poetic dork or "S and G Cells" subplot needed.
@@Ukaran Sephiroth was a hero according to Shinra because of his actions in the Wutai war. Considering that war was an imperialist takeover of a sovereign nation, Sephiroth isn't exactly a hero to those he conquered. Zack wouldn't be either. The biggest crime of the FF7 compilation is that it sanitized and removed all of original FF7's complexities and themes. I love Zack, but the fact that he never had to reckon with being a "hero" while subjugating a nation for not submitting to Shinra was such a cop out on the writer's part. Crisis Core could have been such a good game, I hope EC fares better.
I think it'll be more like Crisis Core where during Sephiroth segments you only play as Sephiroth As for the Wutai thing, First Soldier takes place in a new location called the Rhadore Archipelago, don't think it has anything to do with Wutai

Anyone else caught the white feathers as Sephiroth descended, despite the fact that he's known for a famous black wing? Like, I know it was the doves flying by. But kind of strange they symbolize him with white feathers instead of the usual black. I feel like he's possibly had a white wing before his corruption?
The young sephiroth story has A TON of potential, but I am a bit worried that they might mess it up. Like, having a reference to the famous nibelhiem scene when he’s younger… that’s all it feels like. A reference, why include that? I hope they do it justice
We know in the style department they're unequaled, these square enix bruhs but it's that darn SUBSTANCE, that often gets delivered like... incomplete. Inconclusive is what I'm expecting of this but it looks fun enough!

Pretty sure they came out and said that only the first couple chapters are going to be available at launch and then it's going to be like a monthly release for more ff7 OG content. Which makes sense if you think about it considering rebirth release and the schedule of trailers and possible character reveals
This is a mistake… part of Sephiroths allure is the mystery that is behind him. Kind of like the joker, the vagueness of the character leaves things to your imagination and makes a character better in my opinion. Every time they try to “flesh out” or add extra stuff to a mysterious characters story, it usually ruins it. Just look at Vincent …. Not only was DoC bad but Vincent’s backstory was so underwhelming. Somethings are better off not known
I agree, a lot of times it's better left unsaid, but it entirely comes down to the backstory they build. Vincent wasn't tarnished because they have him a backstory, it was because they wrote his backstory horrifically bad. I'm hoping they develop Sephiroth's backstory by delving deep into the Shinra and Wutai war, instead of the unnecessary bs they did with Genesis and Angeal in Crisis Core. Sephiroth is talking to a Wutai native in the trailer - I'm hoping that's indicative of the direction they'll go
I once (back in the early 00's) read a fan fiction about Sephiroth growing up in the shinra mansion and his training in SOLDIER etc. I've not been able to find it again but ever since reading it I've been asking and praying for some back story on Sephiroth. Finally some of it is coming, hopefully it leads to more.

I mean all of the rest of the compilation was canon, in spite of it being ass. If it turns out bad, you just try desperately not to think about it for like 5+ years, and the you're back to only remembering/loving the original. The 2000s were a rough period for FF7 lore, but we made it lol
You say that but if they make it cannon, it might show up in future products, like part 2 and 3. That is the consequence of making things cannon. It might not just stay ”in the past”. So it becomes a lot harder to ignore.

@TheZajicekfarber Nomura has said his plan was always to make an "EC" game as far back as Dirge of Cerberus, unfortunately that game never came to be and that's why they're reusing the naming convention for this game.
I've always disliked the idea of Sepiroth being evil just for the sake of it. I hope this new story is gonna give us a glimpse of all the emotions he felt growing up as a SOLDIER and being lied to about his origin, and isolated by others. Then I hope FFVIIRebirth is going to give us a much more elaborate dive into what exactly Sephiroth learned by locking himself out in the library, and what type of information about himself and Shinra's plans drove him crazy.
Yeah Sephiroth was introduced as a good guy, people's hero etc... the whole thing about locking himself in the basement reading books without sleeping for months in a row, ending up with psychosis, talking nonsense and going crazy...always felt like lazy story telling...I mean it makes sense for a normal human being but he wasnt normal. PS: I feel like in FF7 Remake there are two Sephiroths, an evil and a good or at least neutral one.
For fans of FF thinking of trying out ever crisis and specifically if this is your first gacha game: please be warned. Not because the game will be bad or anything. It looks pretty cool and a definite step up from usual gacha games. But because gacha games are predatory by nature. Every single one. The games are designed to use psychological tricks to make you want to spend money. Please find a community for free to play or f2p players so you can play through the game without finding yourself rage pulling and so you can manage your resources. All weapons/banners will return so you will not miss out. There is no real FOMO. Its a trick. The company wants to make money. The whales will spend money you dont have to. In the beginning you will be given a lot of free resources. Dont spend it all. Make sure you pace yourself and slowly build 1 or 2 meta characters to carry you so you can clear content and skip banners you dont need.
I'll never tire of FFVII content with Max. Also the intro to Ever Crisis is different than the intro to FFVII Remake, Aerith doesn't react to something before she stands up....INTERESTING!
This being a gacha styled game has just killed all interest for me. And i play lots of them, but i really wanted this to be a modern way for to show off my favorite game to people, but now I can't. Honestly im more excited for seventh heaven mods to rip all of the assetes and use them as a base for modding the pc version of the og game.
Rmr when sephiroth was just a straight up mystery? Rmr his character bio in the manual and all it said was “unknown”? Rmr when whenever he popped up it was this giant holy sh* moment? God I miss those days.
The graphics outside of combat look surprisingly charming, the pre-rendered backgrounds could be a little bit better, they feel kind of empty, but all together it feels they put thought into making the game have identity.
I mean...of course they did, they've stated pretty candidly that these are intentionally modernised recreations of the original chibi overworld style. Final Fantasy doesn't skimp out on the art direction, if nothing else
I don’t know about anybody else, but I’m EXTREMELY concerned that Rebirth isn’t shown to be scheduled for the Tokyo Game Show…. Because I was not only predicting a new trailer, but a 10-15 minute gameplay demo featuring a boss. As well as a special edition revealed, and the release date itself!

I don’t see them showing the entirety of the OG story for Ever Crisis…. At least not until Rebirth…. Because the battle system is based on the PS4 models of the characters. I feel like that would be a massive spoiler for Vincent, Cid, and Cait Sith to be revealed.
With the exception of FF7R, Compilation of FF7 has been historically GARBAGE. Like it all reads like awful fanfic. So whenever new story content for FF7 rears its head, I have like a fight or flight reaction to it
I'm usually very hesitant about "origin stories" for established characters, so I'm curious to see how they handle the storyline for young Sephiroth. We already have Crisis Core as a decent reference for Sephiroth pre-Nibelheim, so I do question why we need more backstory on him (aside from making people play this game lol). But, maybe they'll manage to pull it off and deliver a new aspect to him.
Making a game about younger Sephiroth, and putting it on mobile rather than it being a main AAA project. That's a misfire if ever there was one I think.
IMO they kinda messed the whole FF7 comeback project. I still think FF7 Remake should have been just an expanded take on the original story ... no multiple timeline / timeloop bullshit, just expanding on the story like the game actually does, sans the silly smoke of fate creatures. FF7 already has a great complex story as it is. Add DLC chapters like young Sephiroth, Vincent Valentine's story, Zack's quest once you discover the truth in Nibelheim, etc... then mobile stuff like Ever Crisis wouldn't even be necessary.
I love most other things or spin offs of FF7 ... it's a midas effect as far as I am concert, namely Dirge of Cerberus, Remake, Crisis Core, Advent Children, Dissidia. Sure it is not up to the narrative of the og ff7, and I though most of it to be awkward at first, but ended up falling in love with it all ... I can't wait to finish remake ...

If anything from Capcom is to go by there is a potential new business model of making a F2P game, releasing all the content over the life of the mobile game and after end of life making it into a single player game ala Megaman X Dive

Damn, I really wish this was getting released on consoles/PC instead of mobile. Would be great to play it on my Steam Deck. I might have to get one of those controllers that connects to a phone.
Sometimes, leaving things murky and not telling the full story is just flat out better. We all know Sephiroth has trauma in his past due to being "created" and other things. When you leave it up to the player to fill in the details, it helps us connect with characters like him. I'm really concerned that fleshing out his backstory will just turn him into another emo fantasy villain.
Hate all this stupid crap. I've recently been playing FF7 OG modded on PC through 7th Heaven. That's all the FF7 content I'll ever need. The original is soooo good and will never be topped by all this Kingdom Hearts lore trash.

Not gonna lie, I am a bit hyped about this. Even the fact that its on mobile just kinda fits for me, because I have to travel a lot right now, so I dont have a console or PC with me. It all looks interesting at the very least. I dont expect a 9/10 game here, just a solid 7/10 with a setting and characters I like, plus same amazing music to go with it. Thats good enough for a mobile game and a nice appetizer for Rebirth.
Its prety fun, so far .haven’t play a mobile game in years prety much until this, this feels more like the classic game, because you have like the victory theme play when you beat battles, random encounters.. it’s definitely worth playing
Now basically basically I got done programming Resident Evil 9 with John and 10 with john. He can do the rest I was just getting the math that was doing his cloud. And Ada Michelle from Hadley Cole and Jesse's teacher. The only problem with Jesse easy doesn't really know how to program you have to go to Japan. He gets to re-engineer mathematics for them to understand it. But it gets bomb detonators from my uncle to blow up s*** and my uncle teaches them all he can do for him. And also basically I made two links Three Links now. And I'm not making any more Legends as hell that's way too f****** difficult good it takes it takes my whole brain to do that for like two whole years. It's difficult. And also that's all I owe the japanese. To see which version of it's better. And as for programming all it is is math. And I took 200 computers from newegg. I just spied on New Egg for about 40 years I still have access to the side cuz I put it into quantum mechanics but I'm good at Quantum field Theory and quantum mechanics into physics problems I can see the equations. And I can also see the calculus problems it makes. See quantum mechanics eventually turned into math. But you must know calculus before you can do it pretty had to be on time to just double three to do it. College. And then I went back to an English class to see if I could take English tooth I had a good grade in it and the teacher started f****** with me cuz she didn't want me in there. That's what always happens to me in college because I'm disabled and they don't want me to pass the classes. And that's what they do about her. That's why I don't like going to college that's why it's stay awake. I'm already a programmer what else do I need to do I didn't understand binary hexadecimal C++ and JavaScript and html. i mean the SOLDIER program was already plot relevant and had a bit of a story to it (the degradation stuff, different ranks and small comments about what equipment they can get), now it's just getting fleshed out FAR more we getting into how it began, prototype soldiers, project Soldier: Version 0.5, 1.0, etc it's gonna be interesting, at the least
I wish I could care. No console/pc version, no interest. I really don't play mobile games because they chew on my battery. I remember playing Marvel Future Fight and that was such a battery killer.

Those three "new" characters are the three characters from First Soldier game trailer that's first shown fighting a Behemot and then leave with a Helicopter. Young Sephiroth also appears in First Soldier trailer slashing through other First Soldier's candidates, with a part of FFVII battle theme song in the background. Funny story though, the devs back then insist that that white hair boy fighting other first soldier candidates with FFVII battle theme song in the trailer is not Sephiroth. Even funnier, there are actually people who truly believed that lie 😂😂😂
I only wanted this for the OG game. It’s basically the simple up-res remake some people wanted remake to be. The extra Sephiroth story about him as a young man, I’m not so sure about. The more we learn about him, the less cool he becomes. His mystery is what made him bad ass and scary. It’s like watching Jaws, and they come out with a cartoon about how the shark lived as a little shark, giving it motivations and reason. Nope, I don’t want that.
Coming back here now, it kind of sucks that Ever Crisis may have info in it important to Remake and it's doing that KH thing where it's separating extra info that people may have to go and watch cause they won't play it. Who the hell wants to play through a gacha ._. in this case
