He spoke on Eddie Jordan's podcast, that Red Bull decided to "go thru a different path than his [Adrian's] suggestions" on car development. If that's not a hint, idk what is. Red Bull shot themselves in the foot.
Newey is so great because he's a big picture guy, who can mostly avoid dead end development paths. That's what happened to Mercedes the past few years, and I'd bet money Red Bull are going through the same without Newey controlling the general direction.
Red bull complete concept change at the start of this season instead of developing previous concept is a misstep that was caused by not having Neweys input. I can’t believe some sections of fans are even question Newey, the guy is a literal aero and chassis magician that designed world championship cars since the early 90s for multiple constructors
Except he's made bad cars too... the guy is not a god. So we simply don't know. Some are saying that he hasn't been super involved since 2018. He himself said that for the 2022 car, he only worked on the suspension. So how come when the car is good, it must have been Newey, but when the car is bad, it must be cause they ignored Newey? By his own admission, he only did suspension for 2022. Which is important, don't get me wrong, but the good aero must have been the rest of the team
In a big way yes, it's Adrian's car basically so moving his focus more on the RB17 hyper roadcar took some shine off the F1 car., and also add in the Honda powertrain which I'm thinking is now focusing their switch to Aston Martin.
Once RB lost all their cheat modes the car no longer wins by 30+ seconds. Wow, who would have thought that! Max will be crying and whinning that RB need to buy him some wins, like the title they purchased him!
Max saying Newey leaving hasn't really effected the cars performance is a joke. If Newey isn't supplying any support to develop the car then that is a negative impact. Imagine if Newey joined another team this year, it be almost guaranteed that their car would see a performance uptick to at least the aero or chassis side to unlock better downforce or a more expanded operating window to suit more track layouts. So saying him leaving hasn't had an effect is just corporate robot speech to tow the company line. One considered the greatest of all time at designing a F1 car will always make an impact development wise over a season. Hell last year when Red Bull was looking for a lil more performance aero wise to create better rearward downforce Newey saw a diffuser design from Williams of all times and found a way to graft it onto the RB19 and generate increased downforce across a wider range then Williams could ever create. The fact he took a part from a back end team and recognized it's performance ability for the Red Bull and understood how to implement it can't be under sold. It's why every team on the grid want him for next year.
you realise the dubbed 'most dominant car' (rb19) was developed by Pierre Wache... not Newey. they decided to go a different direction with the car this year (minimal sidepods), and it didn't work. ontop of having less time for wind tunnel, less development costs due to the breach, and mclaren bringing in several major upgrades...
@@code01372Wache was the technical director (lead designer) of RB19, but Newey gave instrumental input and knowledge to the car development, and had done that for years. It would be a grave mistake to undermine Newey's importance.
They pay him more than most drivers get, and he's been free to do his own projects for years. He hasn't been the main designer in ages. Not saying he hasn't been a part of the development, but he's not designed the initial car for years. Considering how he was treated at Williams and McLaren, which caused him to leave without a job to go to, and that he's been with RB for the best part of twenty years, I doubt _very_ much that he's been treated badly! He hasn't needed to work for at least a decade, he just wants to. He could have gone anywhere else during this time. His actions don't appear to be those of someone who has been unhappy!
