The impatience is something that really resonates with me. I want to get better and I want to get better NOW.

Amazing story giving so much hope. Loved Max’s discussion over cost. Absolutely true. My belief was I couldn’t afford not to.

OMG.... 💡Second insight happened when Max talked about his discussion with Erin about wanting/needing access to all the information for his lifetime... to be able to get better... he needed to read it all, take lots of notes, do everything suggested. This is so ME! I have an incredible fear that I might miss one critical piece of information that might be "the key I havent tried yet". But... not having that mindset also makes me feel like I'm being reckless with my money....(if I've paid for a course/class... you need to give it 100%!!!).... since money (primary worry) is scarce after being on disability for 30+years. 🤔Hmm... interesting! "Overcompensation from Desperation".... totally true in my case. And bottom line.... fear of wasting money. When Max/Toby both said not to worry about the time it takes. I felt huge anxiety for a split second...when it tried not to think of the timeline in terms of whenever vs this week, this month, ....the Foundations course is only 6 weeks long! How will I remember everything! 😱..... 🤣🤣🤣‼️

Having watched a few recovery stories, I found this one with Max to be the most useful at the point where I feel I'm currently atm. Ongoing, really struggling trying to find/sort my baseline, trying to juggle several things and not getting any better or very far. When he said.... Concentrate on ONE THING, think this really hit me, as I'm trying several things all at once hoping they'll all magically go together when they're not! So I'm now going to concentrate on my sleep, get this regular, get a routine etc take it one step at a time instead of trying to juggle... throwing loads of balls into the air and not being able to catch even one....

Thanks so much Max for sharing your story. I too was a people pleaser so relate to that. It's good to be able to focus on one or two things at a time instead of trying to fix everything simultaneously and not getting far. Your comment "Don't loose hope listen to your body and you can get better." resonated with me and brought tears to my eyes. Toby I appreciate learning that you vet people and accept those that are ready. It also shows that you are not just interested in money. The way you come across suggests that you are not like that any way rather a very genuine person. I am currently recovering from COVID, so that's another curve ball in my journey.

I had a little "a-ha" moment regarding people pleasing. At this point in my life, I've done a lot of inner work. Just over the last few months I'm not interested anymore in sacrificing my health to help someone else. In the past I helped others because as well as people pleasing, it also allowed me to avoid working on myself. (accepting responsibility, doing the hard work.) My little "a-ha" was ... I now agree to help others (don't say no when I should).... because when I help them I know exactly what to expect (there is a specific task), where as working on my recovery... there is so much uncertainty of what to do, when, how much, how long. This reinforces how important a baseline checklist, schedule, and routine is.✅️ Thank you Max.... now back to the video!!❤

Thank you for this great episode, so much of what Max said really resonated. Most significantly it really made sense when he talked about investing in the program. I have wanted to join for a while but felt too guilty to spend the money as I have a family. However, this illness has meant that i have been working significantly reduced hours at work for the last two years which is actually more of a financial burden on my family than not getting better. Thank you for the clarity, definitely going to join the short course when it opens.

I’d love to learn more about these strengthening macro sessions as I’m in that stage of recovery that I need to build strength. I was an athlete before too 😅 Would you make a video about it? Thank you 🙏

Same here! First time I hear about macro vs micro and I’m also looking to increase my yoga to some more movement like tai chi (push and pull movements). Is micro something like that? Would love to understand this better. Thanks Toby!

I found this really positive and helpful. I’m constantly pushing and crashing but I am now seeing the pattern.just need to learn how much is too much when I have a good day. I am considering asking Toby to join the course as am not able to do it myself. Max what a great chap, very inspiring. I hope you continue to recover and heal.

I'm 1.5 years into long covid too. I'm really up and down now after being consistently down for the first 12 months. What is helping you most? My main symptoms now are PEM and often feeling unwell like I have a virus, so headaches, sore throat, body aches etc.

Third realization... (just commenting in case this resonates with someone else... not trying to hog the comment section!)... was realizing that coming from an athletic background, I thought that "rehabilitation" had to be a "scheduled athletic endeavor"..... like resistance training or walking (in it's mildest form). And even though at my healthiest time I was doing yoga 3 times a week.... it seriously never occurred to my to "just do some stretching"! How simple is that??!! I keep trying to get back to weight lifting... but that's not where I'm at. No wonder I can not be consistent with it! I'm at the deconditioned muscle stage.... and I need stretching..... build up energy, build up movement endurace and stamina. On a side note... I also realized that "movement" doesn't need to be exercise based.... walk, swim, squats, etc. "Movement can be doing my dishes, cleaning the toilet, putting away one thing that is annoying me." Movement = moving more.... not exercise! Huge mindset shift now that I think about it. Big thanks to Max! I'm so happy that you are back to being healthy and active. Blessings for a fabulous life!!❤❤❤

Thanks Max and Toby for this great interview..and so relaxed. Loved it❤ Tracing back where one got off track and didn't lived aligned anymore/put the bodywisdom on hold is not only interesting, but perhaps even crucial to avoid future episodes of this or other stress related illnesses. At least for those people who can relate to this cause and effect perspective. In my case it's obvious. No doubt at all😅 After two more moderate episodes of CFS where I couldn't work and thought it is just a more severe form of overtraining-syndrome the third kick now from CFS is full-blown. Biggest learnings and reminders for me: saying no without explaining or justifying, don't investigate in the urge to understand and know everything up to the thousandth (🥱), listen to your body and go/progess slow👍 I think the latter is one of my biggest kryptonites in recovery. The integration of maintain-phases every now and then is one thing I have to concentrate on. Otherwise it quickly gets too slippery under my feet and the long worked out progress is too insecure and not sustainable. Have a wonderful and healthy life Max. Thanks again.🙏
