Finally it's Ed Thanks for the kind comment. He is the best dog anyone could ask for and yes, he truly wants to please us every day. But he LOVES any kind of treat and I have been working with him to not bark so much. He just gets so excited he has to speak his mind! LOL. I totally dread the day he leaves us and doubt we will ever be able to replace him, but Maltese are the absolute best.
@@bobodum6269 I think our pets are a reflection of who we are. Your's is obviously loved and I know exactly what you mean when you say Maltese are the absolute best. In my case, my bull/lab was the best, and for the same reason. You do realize, they own us, not the other way around. :)
@@bobodum6269 I trained my Maltese on the barking by saying stop & tapping on the long part of the snout, not black of the nose nose. Wait till they bark as soon as they stop , say stop loudly ,& tap the area. Reward them. Now they are going to bark for a treat ,put pointer finger on nose until they stop reward. Next after a few days it should be enough to say stop & point finger . Mine now barks a woop & then looks at me for a signal , finger pointing at them means stop. Closed hand free to bark like they want.
I had a Maltese named Pooh growing up. He made it to the old age of 16, live a long happy life. Been 5 years since that dog left me and I still miss him every day. He was a clever little one just like this guy.
I got one for my 13 birthday. He passed after I was married & had 2 kids. I still miss & have tears in my eyes & my kids are long time married. Maltese are special dogs. I even raised them for a while & after some of the pups went on to become show dogs , I began to think about it. I decided to stop breeding to sell because I thought People were putting too much into the dogs looks & not enough into the dogs comfort. I have had 7 Maltese over my life time & after the first few litters , I only had pup's to resupply my family , siblings & cousins that way I could check on them all the time. This way I could be sure they were all treated well.
@@bobodum6269 Like yourself, I had always dread the day that my Maltese will leave us. And that day came exactly one month ago. We had to make the painful decision to put down our Maltese of 15 years. We missed him a lot and I have been searching youtube for Maltese videos and came across yours. Max did remind me of my Maltese - intelligent, loves treats, gets impatient and barks when you have a treat in hand. I had been rewatching the videos I took of my dog and wished I had taken more videos/pictures of him, probably should have done a youtube or instagram account for him.
@@damienpe3357 Just seeing this post as I dont check the comments as often as I should. So sorry for your loss 😞Our Max has really aged the past few years and is currently recovering from a pretty bad leg injury (ACL if thats what its called on a dog) But he is still eager to do tricks for his treats but we have to limit the tricks that would not impact his recovery. Hopefully he will return to 100% soon !!
My family had a Maltese named Muffin for 15 years. It’s been over 10 years since she passed away. Out of all 4 dogs my family has had over the years, Muffin and I bonded the closest. I had her through most of elementary school and all the way through high school. Maltese are incredibly loving, loyal, spirited, and dedicated dogs. A little stubborn, can be a smidge neurotic, and they can be divas, but I adore the breed!
The circle of life continues, i just got a maltese puppy. He is a boy. My wifes friend couldnt keep him so we will love him forever. He is my second dog. We already had a 4 year old maltipoo who i am attached too. Teddy, our new maltese is great so far. Sorry about your maltese
I lost my sweet Maltese Landry in June. She died unexpectedly right in front of me. I'll never get over it. There are incredibly smart. You have a beautiful dog. Enjoy all the memories you will make with him.
Max is so happy and seems so proud of himself that he is able to follow all those commands. We are getting a Maltese soon and this video has inspired me. I don’t understand why anyone would give this video a thumbs down. Well done to the owners for all the hard work they put into training him
Thank you!! Congrats on getting a Maltese! They are the absolute best dogs and are so smart. I wish I had time to train him more as he learns very quick! Best of luck with your new baby and just be patient and loving as they learn.
We just to put our 16 yr old Maltese down. I never cried so much. Watching this video reminds me of when she was a pup. Her name was Cari. I carry her dog tags on my keychain now. I loved her so much...still do.
So sorry to hear about Cari's passing. I can not imagine our life without Max as he is the total center of our household. I hate to see these posts about peoples devastating losses but in a way they remind me that Max wont be with us forever and it makes you appreciate them even more. We almost lost him a couple months ago when he ate something in the house or yard that was toxic to him. Fortunately we realized something was wrong and rushed him to the vet where he spent about three days in ICU with meds and fluids to flush his system out and save him. His numbers from the initial blood work were so bad we did not think he would survive. We thank God every day that he survived ! I hope you get a new one as they are the best dogs in the world ! Take care.
What a sweet little boy! We have one right now along with a shih tzu and we did have another female Maltese who was as loving as our 2 current dogs are!
I love maltese very much and I love, when their owners are behaving not as masters, but as a loving parents. They are children..left without their own mama - we must be replacing her with love and give RESPECT to the little heart..a baby, actually.
One of my Maltese just died due to a shunk in his liver. He was only a month old and... I miss him so much that I'm watching this. RIP Logan: August 2019 to September 2019
Ours does a neat trick, you politely ask them to do something, anything you want, and they both give us the skunk eye and they go do what they want. Lol.
Haha. Hilarious. They can be hard headed as they are so smart. I will have to post some new videos of some other ticks. Had a scare last week and almost lost my buddy to liver failure. After $1,400 vet bill with intensive care overnight, hes doing much better. Not sure what happened, but he ate something (Vet thinks it was a Tylenol or something we dropped on floor) and it about shut him down. Fingers crossed he will fully recover
Awwww. Max is so cute & energetic!! He's very smart indeed!(^^). My Maltese puppy was also beautiful, smart & funny that I still miss her after so many years. She passed away at age 14... She did lots of tricks as well but I never taught her to close the door!(^^). Max seems to bark a lot where my puppy hardly ever barked unless she saw one of our neighbor's dog she was not keen on! Lol! This Yorkie loved my puppy for some reason... Poor little guy must have his heart broken...
@@valentinapopic8786 Hi Valentina! Thank you. It was blessing to have her & I'll never forget her. I hope I will see her when my time comes!(^^)(^^) Have a nice weekend!! It's 102F in New York!!
@@valentinapopic8786 Awwww You're so sweet but my puppy was a girl, a beautiful girl!(^^)(^^) I hope you had a good weekend. Wherever you are, I hope it didn't get too hot! It was brutal here but today is much nicer!(^^) I heard France, England are also suffering from the historical heatwaves!!! I can't imagine how horrible for people in France to live above 105,110F weather until October!!! That's insane! If you're in those countries, I hope you manage to stay cool....as much as you can!(^^). Take care!

We started with that and gradually added tricks (most recently my son has taught him all the new tricks) You will be amazed how fast they pick up on things!
when I saw the dislikes on this video I was concerned it was some type of animal ab*se content but when I watched the video there was absolutely nothing bad, only cuteness. I don't understand these dislikes.
Thanks for your comments. I had not even seen the dislikes and it's actually kind of funny to me. But typical of today's world where you can't please everyone. I am by no means a professional RU-vidr as I have a real job that takes up most of my time. But I do appreciate all of the comments and hopefully I can do more videos soon, especially as Max ages so I can capture the absolute joy that he brings our family each and every day. I had originally uploaded this video to make room on my iPhone that had run out of space. LOL. Had no idea that it would get over a million views !!! Max is truly amazing, smartest dog we have ever owned. Very quick learner and he actually has us trained on a few things and I jokingly nicknamed him "Rainman" as he insists on certain routines every day and does not like to deviate from the norm on anything. LOL. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
@@bobodum6269 the video is really well made and not bad quality. I really enjoyed it. "Rainman" 😂 is absolutely adorable. You can see he wants to please his parents. And from your message you seem like a great family. Hopefully I'll see more videos when you upload them. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year ❤ ps: the dislikes may come from cat lovers 😂😂😂 jk
So cute! Wish my little guy knew all those tricks. All he knows is Stay, bedtime (runs to my bedroom and lays on his pillow until I come to bed and put him in bed with me), drop it and leave it (if he gets ahold of something he shouldn’t he drops it and won’t touch it so I can get it away from him).
Thanks you for the compliment!! Highly recommend the Maltese and you will not regret. Just make sure to set the ground rules early on and they are so smart, they will take it from there. Great family dog, but ours is not really socialized much with other dogs, so he can be a little moody and protective around other dogs. I think its all based on what they are used to on a normal basis. Go for it and just make sure the breeder has a good reputation and get references, etc.
