ayea chrome is dead. Pointless really nowadays. Im running impacts only,even when I use my ratchets. I very very rarely run into a spot where I actually have to grab a chromey.
@chriswebb3018
@chriswebb3018 3 года назад
For sure. That chrome looks good but he will find that when he uses 1/2" that impact socket are going to be what is really needed. Although he can always get impact sockets later on from many good brands and not have to pay snapy prices. Impact, impact, impact and chrome where needed like 3/8 & 1/4". But also get impact in those sizes as well.

Great lineup! A good move loading up when you can with 50% off, you will never regret that move. It only makes sense as Snapon is truly some of the finest tools available. You are buying tools for life as they are not going anywhere, last year on 2020 they racked up 30 billion + in cash flow. I would recomend a 1/4" TLL80 9" ratchet, at 90 tooth count and dual 80 technology it's one I use often. You might consider a 36" prybar, dont question it you will love the extra leverage it will give you and save strain on your body. (Work smart not hard!). Besides that look at some impact socket purchases, perhaps some specialty ones. Good luck and enjoy your new tools/toys!

If you are going to do any type of RWD transmissions or clutches, any brand 30" or 36" extension that is 1/2" on the female end and 3/8" w/ locking collar on the male end is an absolute MUST. And locking a wobble/swivel socket onto the end of it makes those top 4 bell housing bolts a NON-ISSUE is almost every car/truck.

Looks awesome!!!! I'm a master Electrician by trade, However I have always been the guy who fixes cars for friends. I love turning wrenches. About a year ago I started to up my mechanics tool game. At that time I started buying snap on tools. Just about every pay period I get a couple three sets of snap on tools. The result is my smaller top box and lower box is pretty full. Every tool in my box is Snap on, Matco, Mac and All made in the USA except my Fluke meter. Love all my tools. It matters to me where they are built, how they feel, if they mar the bolts I work on.

My school in Boston had a Snap-On partnership and we were given $10,000 worth of tools with a rolling toolbox at a discounted price so $5000 for $2500 per year/$1250 per semester. And because it's a college, i was included in our student loans. Fortunately for me though I got very lucky. The school granted me the tools the first year so it was slightly used. Also Patriots owner Robert Kraft donated money to the school and I got a small percentage of his scholarship and that paid the other half. Can't complain about Snap-On too much.

Do you have other tools besides this or is this all you have? Bc man if u don't have any impact wrenches or sockets, ull basically only be able to work on bicycles, with all those wrenchs and ratchets. I would try m return a couple ratchets if not used and put that money, with ur reminding balance and get u an impact wrench (pneumatic 1/2 first), an air or electric ratchet (3/8) and a set og 1/2 impacts atleast (up to 24mm, for now) a set of 3/8 impact. Impact extentions, adapters & swivels. You'll need impacts, unless u like breaking things an busting ur knuckles. Plus the fact that time is money. I've been professional mechanics close to 15 yrs and I still don't own that many socket wrenches. Especially snap-on ones. Lol

You did well. I did what you did years ago. I would have bought impacts vs the pretty chrome. You can use the softer impacts by hand but really shouldnt go the other way so you will probably be buying impacts too. I had to get SAE and Metric. There are exceptions but nowadays, its metric. My SAE tools sit. I would have bought something less expensive for the SAE and bought more Metric. If your tools are new, the truck rep may swap them for your if you change your mind. I was able to do that on my mistakes. Starting out, the newer split top roll carts are nice vs a box. Good luck.

You'll need locking pliers(vise grips), a soft dead blow hammer, impact sockets (probably just 1/2 drive for now), line wrenches, torx, e-torx and allen sockets, a magnet and mirror, flashlight. I'd go to Harbor Freight and buy their 24" 1/2" drive breaker bar. You can survive with just some swivel adapters for now; I'd wait on swivel sockets. Then, down the road, various ring pliers, punches and chisels, wire tools... diagnostics and your various kits, pullers, compression tester, and what not (Depending on your job). Nice start up; some of those tools you won't use as much as you'd think. They're still really nice to have and they'll last you a life time.

Cordless 3/8" ratchet or a cordless 14.4v impact driver. Don't worry about all the criticism from folks saying you're wasting your money. They don't know your financial status. And maybe you were able to pay for them plus got them at a 55% discount. Good financial decision in my opinion. As long as you didn't put yourself into debt more than you can handle I'd say you're ok. Save up your money for a good box down the road. I'm guessing all this is for a hobby. As a technician I love Snap-On tools, but I could never buy them just to use at home. For me the cost to quality "needed" ratio is too high for use that is not generating income. It is a very nice tool haul for a hobbyist, techs would lean to the power/impact side for the speed. More speed = More money

I would have bought a much different pile of tools... mainly air power and diagnostic tools. Hand tools can be bought so much cheaper even at 55 percent off from Snap-On. Sunex impact sockets, Tekton chrome sockets and screwdrivers, Lang pry bars, and Milwaukee electric tools. I love tools truck tools and I too have personally made poor financial decisions 😅, but a lot of them just aren't worth the price compared to the competition. They aren't really doing much to make their tools worth buying over cheaper brands.

Don't get any more tools! Just because you have been extended credit doesn't mean your goal it to max it out. If that is the way you think don't get any credit cards either! If Snap-On doesn't give you a large discount then for lesser used tools you should wait until you first need them. I really like Snap-On Tools and have been buying them for 30 years. But I have never been on a tool truck. I am willing to buy used but close to new Snap-On Tools which is way cheaper than list. But you have to be patient and pay when you buy them. If you are going to buy new Snap-On then get what you need and minimize duplication. I like the older style hard handle screwdrivers, they are much tougher, fit my hand better, and clean up easier. But I saw in this video that you bought brand new sets of the "Instinct" screwdrivers in both hard and soft handles. You could have lived with one set to start off.

Don’t take things wrong but coming from a guy that been doing this for 20+yrs the only chrome sockets I use are 1/4” the rest are impact 90% of the time. You do t really need all those chromies and that speed wrench u have will never be used in a shop. Most of the time I use air ratchets or battery power ones. You need some air tools or battery tools impact sockets 1/4,3/8,1/2 and get some locking extensions they will save you in a tight spot from losing the sockets.

I’m am a high volume independent flat rater . My advice , invest in semi deep sockets . Gear wrench has a nice 1/4 set 4-15 short and deep super dope . Snap on chrome 3/8 semi, get 3/8 semi deep impact swivels . Great when used with a very long 1/2 to 3/8 extension when pulling trans etc

Definitely aN impact set. Maybe a 3/8” drive metric set. I think they have a 14pc. Set. I’d go with that and a 3/8” universal impact adapter, and also the 1/2” impact swivel adapter. Should get you to about $6-700 there.

@hammurambi 3 года назад
I get buying high quality tools though. Regardless of the warranty, if a tool breaks halfway through a job, sure it’ll get replaced for free but it’s a pain in the ass. Cheap sockets and wrenches damage fasteners due to crap tolerances. I work in American manufacturing so I’m also a little biased towards buying American made. All that said, the tool truck prices are insane. You could probably get the same quality and quantity of tools buying Wright, SK, Knipex, Mayhew, Tekton, Trustycook, Megapro, etc.

The discount allows you to sell the tools used for close to what you spent for them, so from the economic standpoint it's a smart buy. Nonetheless, if it were me, I'd blend the tools brands to lower the cost factor and put the savings in my pocket. Over the years I've seen too many starting techs overcome by debt and leave the field. I would suggest buying a used tool cart or something from Harbor Freight especially if you start at the lube rack as most newbie techs do. You can sell the cart or trade in to get a larger box as you needs change. Just a suggestion from someone whose spent 40+ years in the auto service trade.

ok decent start but you will need more pliers like snap ring pliers and I didn't see any torx or Allen head sockets all three of those are must have item on any vehicle

Definitely get yourself some 3/8” drive metric impact sockets in shallow, deep and shallow swivels. Next, trade in the chrome 1/2” drive sockets and invest in your Allen sockets stubby and long. Skip Snap On and go with Milwaukee electric impact tools. For the cost of the Snap On 1/2 impact, you can easily outfit your toolbox with at least 3-4 great Milwaukee electric tools like a 1/2” gun, 1/4” extended ratchet, 3/8” impact right angle (You’re gonna want this one)a nut driver gun and batteries. Good luck! 👍🏻

Yeah I went only with ratchet’s from them right at the moment but now years later I went with wrenches, sockets, plier etc but in the beginning I don’t think its ideal till you are making snap on money but to reach his own. Wish the best in the field and hope it works out for you in the long haul. God bless

Snap ring pliers , the 48” pry bar or whatever length their biggest one is …you’ll def want battery or air tools but after the hand tools probably … I do heavy equipment so a bit different but there is all kinds of specialty tools you’ll need for auto as well … tap and die set, extractors etc

Interesting.... A lot of that wouldn’t have been my choice, especially all those ratchets, chrome sockets and different handled screw drivers. When you need impact sockets J.H. Williams is Snap-on’s industrial brand and their U.S made stuff is nice for much much less.

good set up ,, chisels and punches are missing ,, trim tools and a radiator hose tool or two , magnet on a stick , a smaller hammer and a soft hammer ,,, allen key sockets / torx sockets ,, circlip pliers ,, thats the stuff that springs to my mind. couple of scrapers if you have cash left over , and a craft knife and a hacksaw or two , large one and smaller one maybe some visegrips.

Nice tools, go towards impact tools. Also don't worry about the negative comments about buying snap on tools. May God bless you in the automotive industry.

14.4 3/8 cordless ratchet and impact would be my next buy. Maybe fuel and ac line disconnect tools or fan clutch tools,test light, fluke multimeter. Plastic rivet remover tools. Plastic Prybars. Torq bits interior trim tools and the list goes on and on. Trust me you’ll have a whole lifetime of buying tools and it never stops. What you have bought so far is high quality Snap-on tools but I would have spent by money different with them. For instance the sockets I would’ve bought the Bluepoint Sockets and got the master set of 1/4. 3/8. and 1/2. You would have had three times the amount of sockets for half the cost. Also in them sets come Extensions and ratchets. All lifetime warranty. You will come to find out what you like and what best works for you. What you want to look for when buying tools if you have to ask to borrow a tool more than three times. You need to buy your own and that doesn’t mean it has to be the most expensive or the best. You want Quality that’s backed with a warranty with good service for the best price.

So far are you liking the locking flex head wrenches? I’m in a auto collision repair program that also has the SEP discount program and I’ve been eyeing those ratchets. Estimated with the discount how much did the metric and standard 3/8” and 1/4” shallow and deep sockets cost?

It really puts it into perspective when you lay out $11,000 (retail price) in Snap On tools. I have a Matco 6s toolbox with top chest and side cabinet that is stuffed with tool truck tools with some Craftsman and Harbor Freight mixed in. I know I have spent tens of thousands of dollars over the years. I don’t think I want to know exactly how much.

I mean if you if you can get that half off I guess that's cool. However probably would of been better off going with sunex,proto, Williams, Blackhawk, and Lisle stuff. To answer your question though for snap on stuff Blue point makes a good handy hex, torx, and E-socket set.

Cool stuff man. I’d highly recommend investing in the 1/2” drive extension with metric and SAE impact flip sockets for wheel lugs. It’s a 3 piece set and probably the most used tool I have next to my impact gun.

You don’t have a torque wrench and four pairs of pliers isn’t enough. You want tiny pliers and also very long needlenose pliers. Lights. A drain bucket. Oil filter wrenches. And OBD reader. Impact sockets.
