Excellent case study Carter! Thank you for the advise! Is very important to see what else is involve in that connector and if that control unit has a terminating resistor! I was hoping you used the decoder but with that sample rate could not be done! No COMM problems with many control units are hard! Thank you for sharing Carter!
Thanks for the lesson !! Unplugging a module and getting a good signal doesn't prove that module's bad. I think this is a good time to cut the can wires at that module, and plug the module back in. Scope the wires going to and coming from the module in question. You'd see the bad signal on the vehicle harness, and a good signal at the bcm (although maybe funky with no terminating resistors.) Either way you'd see you're after a red herring and replacing the module in question isn't the answer!
@@CartersDiagnostics I was considering de-pinning, but if you cut the wires, you'd be able to scope car-side and module-side. Depinning would kind of limit you to car-side only.
Super interesting video. Forgive my ignorance for asking this but I was wondering, when you do another can video if you could explain the difference between sample interval and sample rate and how that relates to the 10MS seen at the top of the screen as that does not seem to go with what is shown on the properties window at the end of your video. Hope this question makes some sort of sense. Again, great video.
Thats a great question. It basically boils down to "you don't always get what you want" Although I requested 10MS, the scopes capability at the time base chosen was only 5MS with 2 channels. That why I look at my property window to verify. I will certainly go over sample rate and sample interval more. I do touch on the subject in most of my videos but I never fully focus on the subject.
Great question , for my scope the 4423 it would be faster if I did use A/C channel combination or the B/D because mine only has two ADC modules. The newer scopes 4425 and up have a separate 100Mhz ADC modules per channel so channel usage and configuration doesn't matter. I hope that answers your question.

Today's version of what I use would be the "picoquad standard kit" I have added a few extras over the years, but that kit is a great foundation to build from.

Getting just the scope is an option , Getting a pico kit comes with all the training and support. As far as a 4425 scope, it would be best to call them for price and availability. Sorry I don't have those details. I'm glad you are liking the videos and commenting I certainly appreciate that.
