Thanks for the tips on shooting in restaurants. Now I have another thing to try. If your meals are able to be written off, would not your hotel and mileage also be? Last thing -- shooting through the windshield...I hope Bambi was driving and not you using your knees. Cheers.
What if we look at the meals as props, and also take photos in the hotel room as a prop/studio 🤷♂️. Yes Bambi drove most of the way 😁. Thanks so much for the comment 🙌
Yes you’re right I upload nearly every day, I know photographers who complain they never sell any of their great photos that they uploaded five years ago 😄
Patience and practice, I look back at my first kid job as a good photographer 🤦♂️😅. Get close and make the best with whatever light situation you are working with 🙌
Your food and drink shots are always exceptional. Mine end up looking like cheap dog food! I absolutely agree that daily uploading makes a difference to the algorithm. My shots per day are lower than I'd like right now due to juggling family stuff, and it stresses me out a bit. P.S. Thanks for the shout out. Awkward side note about my membership -- sometimes my bank account is rather sketchy, so if you see me drop off as a subscriber and then return, it's not you, it's my precarious finances. I will return as soon as I have funds in the bank. 😕
Food wasn't always my favorite thing to photograph... some of my first paid food photo shoots are are bit embarrassing 😅. With a lot of practice and attention to lighting I was able to learn a lot more and get better at it. Thanks so much for the support, and please don't stress out. I appreciate the membership but I also don't want you to be stressed or in a bad place financially or emotionally speaking. Keep shooting and in a few months time things will change. Best wishes. 🙌🏼
Thanks Charles. I appreciate discussion of what the reality is for me and, I guess, many others. Photography is just a hobby. When being out with family and friends I often bring my camera. I don’t want others to constantly wait for me and I need to be fast in capturing what I see, whether it’s food or anything else. But I still want to make good and sellable photos. It’s a challenge, but I like it.
My friends hate going out with me 😂. It’s only a few minutes… then I start changing angles and replaying things… I usually order an appetizer to keep them happy 😁
Would you please consider doing a video on the proper way to caption editorial vs commercial content? Or are they captioned the same way? Or does each site require a particular format? What do u use for editing your photos - Display Tablet / Graphic Tablet ? I've budget to buy R8 Camera or a Display tablet, only one thing to buy at a time. Which option to consider first ? Hi Charlie - Another great video. On the tax write-off. I am no accountant, but I have had one or more businesses most of my life. I would think some or all of the meal expense is a write-off. There are rules to calculate the percentage of write off for mixed-use expenses like a home office or using your personal car for business, not sure how it works for expenses you can eat.
