Been flying mine for a few weeks, haven’t quite gone to 20 minutes total yet get to the 20%, but usually doing shorter flights because of my location is more the issue. Have the Fly More kit so the 3 batteries is a MUST! Thanks for the post!
@@DimmyV Hey no worries! The “real world” approach is best like you say. I’m in northern CA with a hillside/hiking trail where I go in the morning. Trouble getting an observer, so found an isolated zone to practice. Want to try goggles/motion controller next week with Mini 4 Pro to see what it’s like with FPV-obstacle avoidance combo! Should be interesting! Working to get my 107, and show other 68 year olds (and youngsters) something else to do in retirement! Appreciate you!🇺🇸
Great video Dimmy! One tip I'd like to add which kind of fits into the 'Plan ahead of time' section is reserving a battery/pack for just scouting out the area and finding/ practicing the lines and spots you want to get in the shot. Then, using a new battery for actually getting the shot/s that you want. It won't necessarily increase your flight time, but it will let you make sure you're using the best part of your battery on getting the shot, and you don't run into sag, or get interrupted by needing to switch packs while getting the shot. I did have a question - Compared to more traditional FPV drones (running LiPo), did you notice much sag on the Avata 2 (Which I believe is Li Ion?)? Roughly what battery percentage did the sag start to kick in? I totally understand that flight time will vary wildly depending on flight style too, so the 'usable' battery percentage may be more useful than just raw flight time for manual mode.
Yes planning ahead and using one battery to scout first is a good idea. I do this too sometimes. A bit like f1 where they try to get faster laps and on a fresh set of tires try again. No I did not experience any sag with the Li Ion. This may change over time with more use but only time will tell.
I get 12 to 16 minutes per flight. I usually fly normal "nape of the earth". (Under 2 foot) Speed 1.5 mph to 3 mph. I like to film flowers, birds and insects. (The last one was a surprise!). Have you worked with head tracking? There seems to be some potential to unlock there. Great video, I use my back up charger to power the goggles. I have enough batteries to fly as long as I wish but there is no swap for the goggles.
Still flying with the Avata where you first need to fly the batteries nearly dry to get them in extended mode. About 13 minutes is the longest flight with the avata.
