I have a busted MaxxAir fan, and have a board replacement which I haven't put in, yet. This video comes in handy. That said, I wouldn't buy a MaxxAir fan again - I just need something simple. All a roof fan needs is a switch / rheostat to turn on an off, and for speed - and a simple switch to change fan direction. I don't need any of that other nonsense that breaks. Nobody needs 10 speeds. Nobody needs temperature sensor to turn fan on / off. If it's hot - turn it on, if not, leave it off. No computer. ( and I'm a software and firmware engineer! ). My next fan will be a simple Fantastic Fan. I was told that if the voltage goes above 13.4 it can damage the fan. My particular fan is connected to a regulated output 13.2VDC so that wasn't the issue. Further, I wouldn't use a MaxxAir fan as a bathroom / shower exhaust fan, as all of its electronics are more susceptible to moisture than the extremely simple Fantastic Fan. A giant crystal? Seriously? In 2020? I had those crystals in my ham radio set in the 1970s. Is that circuit board even shellacked? In my old 1966 Class A, it had the original single-speed, exhaust-only fan which still worked 30 years later. Simplicity is best.

I put a Fantastic Fan in my previous travel trailer. It was entirely sufficient and about half the price of a MaxxFan, and had no microcontroller. I think you are correct. Thanks for watching and commenting.

I'd really like to know when their going to do something about these voltage issues, I replaced one board already, 6 months old!

I agree that it is a design flaw that MaxxAir should address. Meanwhile, have you considered installing a voltage regulator as I show in the video?

There are 'known' voltage issues with these fans. Check out my video on installing a voltage drop down regulator to protect the circuit board. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-fbWuiF2JSXs.html Thank you.

Best way to deal with a Maxxair is to dump it in the garbage and buy a fantastic fan. Bought a brand new one and it''s junk.

My camper has 3 overhead vents/fans. The stock ones are tiny and move much air. So I installed the same fan over our bedroom. I like that it can be used even in rain, and the thermostat is nice to help the trailer from getting too hot if I am gone. I might install one in our bathroom next.

Good description so far, and yes, $40 is manageable. On to part 2!
