As a filmmaker, I dug your review! I was wondering if I should check this out. I remember in 'X', Ti West used the sort of meandering pace a lot of slashers of the 70s and 80s had and just matched it to his natural slow-burn style. And it worked, but I think it was dragged down by X's secular current-year trappings. It was frustrating because the movie WAS reaching for something that transcends the tired modern political binary. Themes about youth, age, time, and death are so universal; but underused therein. Thanks for sharing; dropping you a like!

The film kind of falls flat in the third act and if you watched "X" right before this, you can basically predict who the killer is. If you've seen other films from that genre, [Angel, Dressed to Kill, Ms. 45, China Town] you can see where he took alot of the influences from. Great soundtrack notes and it's shot really well.
