@@alexgefreiter6810 Ah, the classic March "Grenadier" or as it is know by its original name "Marsch Vor Paris." I always wondered why this march never appeared in Germany despite its Prussian origin. It somehow survived in Russia, and subsequently the USSR. I'm pretty sure many Soviet military musicians believed it to be a Tsarist march because of the limited history surrounding this march. One of my favorite Tsarist marches performed at the October Revolution Parades was the March of 92nd Pechora Infantry regiment!

and even if the Bundeswehr were to parade again, there wouldn't be much to see because the Bundeswehr has simply been de-German. The Bundeswehr does not have that much military equipment and is just able to survive in peacetime. The Bundeswehr is only able to defend itself to a limited extent. In the past it was allowed to be reported publicly and requested by the press. But when it came out that the Bundeswehr could not defend Germany in an emergency and this scandal embarrassed Germany and the army it were forbidden. Goose step is extremely rare. There are no ceremonial traditional uniforms, only a mouse-gray, almost white dress uniform, without tradition (except the collar tabs) or style. There are no sabers or boots or breeches. Instead black suit trousers with a light blue shirt. Not to mention the hat. Even the often fat generals that looks like Herman Göring without Fashion taste wear the barrett as a peaked cap out of laziness. The barrett was originally intended for the NCOs and crewmen and was intended to replace a range of headgear and not all headgear. The beret should help crew members to identify troops and not become a gala headgear for officers. The only ones who are very traditional are the army are the Gebirgsjäger and the Navy and parts of the air force. The Bundeswehr is literally bullied by all media (rightly). She always makes a fool of herself with gender laws or embarrassing appearances, Or their ability to defend themselves. The Bundeswehr urgently needs core reform

TV's were most certainly not a luxury in the USSR according to my parents, but almost everyone had one. It could've been different for post-war East Germany to say the least.

@@scanida5070 well do not forget that contrary to what happened with West Germany (that their reparations were erased from the USA and other western allies, so they could form NATO and they let western countries that were heavily destroyed by the germans without their reparations), East Germany was forced to pay millions for reparations to the Soviet Union and to some other eastern european countries. Literally, the East German state started its existence with being minus millions to their economy. It's very logical why they were the last eastern european Socialist state that was developed.

It was also bad at being a good place to live for an ordinary person. It could've become something good, but dogmatic communism scuppered its chances. I don't object to nice military uniforms, but if you have to trade away personal freedom and the economy for it, I don't see the point.

Well, although you are right, there's also an other reason for building the wall and it's actually a fact that before the wall east Berlin was full with spies from the west, because of the huge unguarded line separating east and west Berlin people from both sides could cross the border easily and undetectably and that was actually the primary reason that the east german government decided to erect the wall, because the numbers of people that had crossed to the western part were not too high to be worried and also at the time the wall was going to be erected, the numbers were dropping and actually there weren't many people escaping at that time. The most people that had escaped to the west were during the 50s and the early years of the GDR.

But at that time most people didn't escape but rather just emigrated because there wasn't enough jobs for all.
