This the the other pieces I try to work on almost daily. Usually I do no. 1 around 80 bpm with the quarter note, with almost no pedal, very legato and very deep into the keys…..it feels very secure then… On this occasion I did not do that practice first, I just launched right into it after running no. 12, so it wasn’t as clean as I would like it to be. At least I got this in, as I had a lot going on this day!
Juana Zayas, great Chopin pianist, is probably the main influence I’ve had as far as how I practice these- I don’t use all the rhythms she uses, however… But mostly Just under tempo and trying to be very clear and articulated and so forth.
Need to work on boxing tops of chords in the no. 12
Black key no. 5 always was tough for my hand…
Not easy… a lot of people seem to think this is one of the easier études… though probably not as scary as 1, 2, or 5 and others, it’s still full of difficulties, ash’s is not easy to master…
