Its sad these are considered big. They used to average 40lbs long ago. You must be in bc for springers. Im washington and i tear up every time i think about how downhill king salmon has become.
West Coast Van Isle yes. That area was never known for 40# average. Fish are definitely smaller average now, but still plenty of them. I don’t have a problem with 18-28# Chinooks.
All the fish coming through their average 18-28lb? I highly doubt that. I fish out of the entire west coast of washington. Those fish are headed this way and into the straits bound for ours and your rivers and they don’t average that big.
I'm in Oregon where they consider a 20 pounder a hog....😢 It used to take a 30 pounder to qualify for that status. They still taste good just not for as long. And if Oregon and Washington fish commissioners have their way we won't get to fish for them anymore anyway....
@@joeymc5272 I don’t fish offshore for your dink Columbia fish. Although they do sneak along the surfline at times, I get better grade fishing the inside waters. Lots of high teens to high 20’s still kicking around from the Conuma river and Somass. As well as all our local smaller systems.
@@Doubleheader2 lmfao i have quite a few friends who fish that area regularly during the king runs. Im going to ask them what the average size is that way because they fish that way regularly and i don’t. I get up to winter H every 3 years or so and fish off tofino and port Renfrew about every other year when we want to make the trip over from neah bay. Bruh i bet you’re just talkin shit. I bet its more like 15ers just like every where else nowadays. I hit all the frazer river and Campbell kings when they are coming through when we head out of san juan islands. I fish everywhere. Ive seen the decline everywhere and can guarantee your supposed area is not different. Dinks lol. I don’t hear that from your bamfielders hauling 30 5 gallon pales to haul down to la push and westport to fish for 20 mile offshore kings and tuna joker.
