What some might call the best weakfishing in years is taking place right now throughout the
island. North, South Shores, and of course, right in Peconic Bay, is experiencing wild catches of
over 50 fish per trip for some anglers, with fish up to 10 pounds confirmed. The island's south
side has been filled with bluefish, but North Shore areas are starting to get the first ones of the
season. Striper fishing remains solid all over, with some larger fish moving into the Sound this
past week. Some better fishing is also taking place in the Gut. Fish up to 50 inches were also
reported again inside Peconic, and Montauk didn’t lack any either. Porgies were locked and
loaded in the Sound once again and inside Peconic, with fish up to 4.7 pounds hitting the decks.
Fishing is hot all over right now. There’s almost no wrong choice regarding where and what to
go for.
