Join me as I decorate and write in my Big Happy Planner Currently page for May 2022! I can't believe it's May already! I used a combination of florals and dogs to make a Spring type spread, which is weird but also cool I think?
Trigger warning - grief and loss.

Mary Ellen you are correct there is no time frame on grieving. I lost a child due to SIDS 31 years ago, since I have had five amazing children and a ton of grandchildren. However on the anniversary of her passing and her birthday it is so rough. My love and heart goes out to you. I love your talks with us. They help me more than you know.

I am very impressed with the way that you feel safe in opening up about your struggles. Because the struggle IS REAL. And you never know when those feelings are going to rise to the surface and there is no time frame. You're amazing and I am praying that a little more sunshine peaks through for you each and every day.

Thank you, Mary Ellen, for being honest and vulnerable about your grieving. I lost my dad suddenly 7 years ago. Today is his birthday and I’m really grateful to watch THIS video of yours today. 🤍 Thank you for sharing the fact that your brain just can’t handle the trauma. I really relate to that!! Some days are easier than others. ❤️‍🩹Sending you big healing hugs. ❤️❤️❤️

I luv how you are open and remember think of the good push forward each day of your loved ones. I lost my dad 5yrs ago and we still grieve. Its very hard when you can't talk to them about the day you had, trouble that arises, and the daily advice given. The little things that remind me of him takes its toll sometimes and then suddenly the tears come. It just takes time and each day I remember the the things that make me laugh.. Prayers to you and your family that it gets easier to cope...God Bless

You are right about shutting down when you're grieving....I turned to taking myself to the casino to zone out and not feel....in the course of a few months I became an addicted gambler. I lost most of what I had...am now in recovery....this month I am 11 years clean thanks to Gamblers Anonymous and a wonderful sponsor. If you stuff it down, eventually it comes out and it isn't always pretty. My husband died 17 years ago and I still cry for him every week. There is no time frame...each person is different...take all the time you need...and don't apologize!

I tell friends who loose someone that the firsts without them are the hardest. After that it surprises you when that grief shows up. That’s my experience at least with my Dad and Grandparents. I lost an awesome dog who was basically my support during my kids being small bc all three are special needs. There is no timetable on grief. I haven’t lost a child personally but my heart goes out to those who do.

Mary Ellen my heart breaks for you. My sister went through a similar thing. She had a stillborn baby and then lost her husband to cancer. There is no timeline for grief and sometimes it hits you when you least expect it. There are also certain times of the year that are worse than others. Being creative is a great outlet. I agreed with no time line on grieving! I lost my dad almost 13 years ago and still struggle with it. Then I lost my mom last year. I lost my ex almost 4 years ago and even though he was my ex - I still loved him and people do not get it. We were married 30 years. Some times I write letters to them knowing they will never see it but mentally it helps me. I always said it is like a roller coaster ride - good days and bad days. You have to do what is best for you, not what others think is best. Love the way your current page turned out. You made the flowers and dogs work and I love it.

I am so sorry for your loss and the pain you are experiencing. I lost my son 29 years ago and I still feel the pain of losing him. Eventually you will learn to cope with the loss but you will always love and miss him. You have every right to grieve, feel pain, and talk about your loss. People tell me I’m strong in dealing with my loss, but honestly, I’d rather have my son back than have people say I’m strong. Please let me give you a virtual hug.

This is all so real. It is very lonely. Even surrounded by friends and loved ones who mean well, they have no idea what your thoughts and feelings are. And sadly, despite what I’ve heard for years, I’ve discovered, there is no end date, there is no “closure,” and is not a “reason” for everything that becomes obvious as time goes by. It’s just hard, and all you can do is show up day after day, until it’s not so hard.

Oh Mary Ellen I can hear the pain in your heart, I’m so very very sorry. My husband lost his son to suicide 10 years ago and there are still those days that it can be so overwhelming, and the guilt, why didn’t we see things, could we have done anything. We will always have those questions that can never be answered. Most days now are pretty good, but then there are those things, days etc that remind us he’s not here. I wish I could just give you a BIG hug and tell you we’re here for you and we all love you so much. Continued prayers 🙏🏻

I only share this because I respect the way you have incorporated some of your real life in a very authentic and vulnerable way. This glimpse makes you so relatable and adds to your gift of sharing your talents in "everything planning!" It was one year on May 7th that my ex bro in law and my ex husband (still extremely close to both) were shot multiple times in their place of business. My ex survived and is learning to walk again. His brother died at the scene. The devastation to our family has been life altering as the ripples are seemingly unceasing. There is comfort in knowing that the struggle is real and OK. As a fairly new "all notifications" subscriber for this channel, I look forward to hearing from you. God bless and you do a fantastic job!!

I’m so sorry about your husband and your son. I lost my mom almost 10 years ago and I fell into a really deep depression and everyone pretty much became to busy (or they just didn’t want to deal with it) to be a part of my life. It was a struggle going through it by myself. Our family completely feel apart. A couple of years afterward other family members decided we weren’t going to do family get togethers anymore for the holidays. That was a total gut punch. That was the only time I ever really got to see everyone because I now live 3 hours away. So we were cut out. Our immediate family dissolved as well. So many other things happened as well that didn’t make it any easier and it was a lot to deal with with no one to confide in anymore. I just recently decided I’m not going to allow this depression to consume me anymore and have began on the road to finding myself again. You’re videos introduced me to this planning world and it has been playing a huge part in my happy again and my journey back to me. Thank you for that. :)

Really love this adorable layout!! There is no timeline for grief. There is no defined behavior for grief. There is no specific pattern for grief. We are all here for you, and I pray often that you will more and more experience peace. Don’t give up.❤️

You’re so brave and admirable for sharing the hurt with us. Thank you for being vulnerable and honest, I have added you to my daily prayers and pray to God you won’t feel so alone and can find comfort. It’s okay not to be okay....but reach out when you need to, and I hope others are checking on you too.

Mary Ellen, thank you for your honesty! I lost my father in 2005 and my sister in 2018. Grief is a process and it happens on YOUR timeline! Be kind and patient with yourself. I remember when you were trying to get 30k subscribers. Thank God for growth!

I am so grateful I came across this video! I lost my 20 year old son a little over a year ago. I spend so much time pushing all those feelings down. And when I feel them it’s hard. I just wanted to thank you for sharing , it’s been a dark week and I feel a little less alone, if that makes sense.

I’m so sorry. Im glad it helped a little, because I guess my hope is that by sharing stuff like this, other grieving parents will feel just a little less alone. Because no one really gets it except for those of us going through it. Even then, everyone’s circumstances are so different. It’s sooo hard to feel these feelings, I get it. I wish you peace and healing. ❤️

I love that you do these currently pages because it gives me ideas on how to do mine. I appreciate your honesty and I think it helps to talk about it and share how you feel. If people can’t handle that then it’s their problem. I would subscribe again, if I could, to help you get to 100K. You’ll get there by just being you. Thanks for your helpful ideas!! 🤗❤️

It is so important to hear the truth about things like the grief process. I didn't feel like the video was sad at all. The insights you share are always thoughtful and very well expressed and helpful. I love this spread and the whimsical flowers and dogs made me really smile and feel happy. I think it was better when you took off the gold hearts and added the big Bumble and the added flowers. Yes, it was definitely perfect in the end.

Mary Ellen thank you for being real on your channel. We do love your planning videos, but we also love how real you are with us. We all have to remember we are human beings and have other things going on in our lives besides our planners. I'm so sorry for your loss of your son. Grief is very very hard, I understand completely. Keeping you in my prayers and your family. Take care of yourself.💜🙏🏻

Grief is a roller coaster that sometimes you can't get off when you want to. I lost my sister this April and I feel like screaming one minute and crying the next. Cherish the memories. Creating helps. Sometimes any distraction helps when you need a break. But I enjoy your layouts and you being so emotionally open in your videos.

Be you, authentically. We are here to support you the only way we can from all over the world. I have depression that is treated with meds and a doctor, so I understand a small part of the struggle, but just remember… BE YOU AUTHENTICALLY ALWAYS AND NO WORRIES. 💐

I love that you added the little Bumble in the corner. I was calling out for you to do so. LOL Thank you for being real and keeping the conversation around grief and mental health going. We all need to make our emotional health less of a taboo and keep talking about it. Let it be more accepted to be real. Pulling for you in your struggle.

Mary Ellen, I lost my brother to suicide around the same time you lost your son. Just 3 months after losing my father in law. I’m with you grief has no time limit. I have good days and bad days. It’s a roller coaster of emotions sadness, anger, guilt you name it. Some days I have to fight back the tears. Hang in there. Thank you for sharing, hugs to you.
