That sounds cool im glad to see Ur doing the history thing and museum I will definitely be watching it's nice to see someone who cares about the old schoolies..I can't remember the one I rode in jr high I'm still wondering where it is but it had the seats in it were so comfortable they were green with white trim I've never seen one like it since..it was bus number 13 and I believe it was a Thomas not sure tho..I'll have to think about it harder it was a stick shift tho..I'd love to find that bus and bring it home..
Do you have any startup/driving videos of the '88 Wayne/Ford with the Brazilian diesel? I rode on a 1986(?) Thomas/Ford with that same engine and loved the sound of it. I wondered what its ultimate fate was for years after it was retired and lo and behold my friend and I were riding through his family property and there's my Bus 17, decrepit and being used as a storage shed, but it still has its engine and I was finally able to know for sure what it had.
Hey. I know you did an interstate run at one time with the International Blue Bird. And from what I have heard that most school buses were mainly built for short haul work. St. Louis sadly doesn't do much in offering bus rides on vintage pieces of equipment anymore. Back in the days of when I was growing up, many school buses had what is called the "Compound" transmission. The Compound transmission is where you would have a "Deep Under" gear in 1st. I am sure the engine did make a lot of noise when it was used.
