It's very encouraging to hear you talk about how your son can be reading really well one day and then not able to concentrate and sounding words out wrong another. My son does this a lot too and now that you say it like that, it is definitely when he's more distracted or just not able to really concentrate that day for whatever reason. Thanks for sharing! Also congratulations on the pregnancy! Praying all goes well ❤
Hooray for family visiting! That's the best. Those sound like really awesome stories too! I have drooled over the around the world sets, and we might have to get them....
Beautiful Notebook! The idea of you "modeling what notebooking is" is excellent. I am a first time homeschool mom and I love the idea and we did try Beautiful Feet Early American History for kinder (which we didn't' get far in) so I knew I needed to/wanted to do this. So helpful. I'm also using Gentle + Classical Primer (also did not keep up with that! Bit off more than I could chew this year :).
It happens! Figuring out how to fit all the amazing things we want to do and learn into the time-space continuum of reality is one of homeschool's great challenges. ;) Notebooking is definitely a skill that's a good one to build through "partnership" work--with mom doing more of it at the beginning and gradually taking less and less of a role as the skills are built.
How funny that your body responds like that when it's pregnant!?! Mine did the most bizarre responses - only pregnancy hey! haha I LOVE that you're adding 3 languages into your lesson - such a gift that you're finding ways to incorporate foreign language into their days! x
My youngest loves sand tray letters!!! I did it with my older kids but it was easier with her!!! All my kids wanted to count on both languages and my youngest wanted to count in 4 and I don’t know French or Italian but as my older kids speak them she’s picked up on them!!! We start week days in preschool!!! We are learning a lot about Japan at the moment as my friend who is Japanese is over!!!
Thank you! We do several 'school' sessions, so it's broken up...morning storytime with breakfast is probably at least half an hour (but also involves breakfast), then, after I've cleaned up breakfast and they've had some time to play, probably 30-45 minutes ish of work with my oldest (math, phonics, Spanish, handwriting, etc.) and 15 ish minutes of focused work with my little one. Then I probably do another 30 minutes or so of reading aloud when we have snacktime. And if we have some kind of craft/activity suggested by school, I'll probably use that as an afternoon activity.
@@SevenInAll how do you determine when to start preschool with your littles? My toddler will be 2 in September but my only other daughter is recently turned 6 so little one is eager to do all that sis is doing and I can tell she needs stimulation, which I don't know how to give her.
@@JentheBeliever I started Gentle + Classical as "official" preschool with each of my boys around when they turned 3.5--neither one of my boys were early to speak, and for them, that was around the age when I knew they could really handle saying the memory statements and singing the songs. I did have a ' learning routine' going when they were around 2--just because we definitely needed that stimulation and a tiny bit of structure in our days. I eventually figured out I liked "themed" learning for that very early stage, and created Purely Preschool themed units for VERY early, low-stakes preschool...when the goal is really more about quality time with your little one, building practical skills, giving them something fun and productive to do...and not so much actually mastering ABCs or 123s or tracing, etc, all of the more advanced preschool skills they aren't really ready for yet. I have a video about those units here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-EWXC1AteHPs.html
Thank you! To be fair, the "Seven in All" name for our channel hasn't made sense in a long time. It initially referred to myself and my siblings. Now...it's just a nickname that we're rolling with because unlike most channels on RU-vid, it's impossible to change the name of this channel. ??? lol! We live in tropical SE Asia. :)
@@SevenInAll lol. I totally get you. I like the channel name anyway. It has a nice ring 😊. We were stationed in Japan at one point. Wish we could go back. Are y’all a missionary family?
I so appreciate your months of the year and day of the week comment. My kindergartener does not quite get it, and I was genuinely surprised. Glad you said that. (Also, my daughter totally does that with reading!! Going through the motions on things I know she knows😅🤣)
I mean, if we think about how often we have to stop a few minutes to figure out what date it is...we can understand why months and days can take a little while for little minds to wrap themselves around. Because we don't have visible seasons where we live (i.e. January and June weather is pretty much exactly the same) , I use family birthdays to help give my son a sense of how different things happen in different months. So as we recite the months we talk about birthdays or holidays that happen and those tend to be exciting and memorable for them.
