People from all around the world will celebrate "Star Wars" Day on Saturday, May the Fourth. The franchise has captivated fans for decades, generated billions of dollars at the box office and has seen several successful spinoffs. Dan Zehr, co-author of "The Star Wars Book," joined CBS News to talk about the day and the movie.

I went to see this movie on my birthday June 17, 1977. It changed my life forever. The characters, plot, music, special effects, etc. I even collect the merchandise. I will be attending different events in the DFW, Tx area.

In 1977 I saw Star Wars twelve times in a row that summer because I was taking allergy shots once a week. I would drive from Crete Il. To Harvey Illinois to get the shot then drive to Calumet City to watch Star Wars at River Oaks one!!!!!!

Definitely. If you are going to introduce Star Wars to somebody for the first time, it has to be new Hope. It leaves you wanting more. If you start them with Phantom Menace, they’re going to get bored and say, yeah it was alright. Second choice, depending on the age group would be the Mandalorian. But OG Star Wars is the only way to go. I remember being six years old in the movie theater in 77. Losing my mind. May the fourth be with everyone.

@@al28854 at this point, no more Disney Star Wars. Sell it to another company. Then they can decanonize it like Disney did with all of the Expanded Universe (not that they were canon in the first place) and make new episodes 7, 8, and 9 as a do-over with the ORIGINAL STAR WARS SEQUEL TRILOGY... the books written by Timothy Zahn in the 1990s (with permission by George Lucas) known as the Thrawn Trilogy. By this time, AI will be to the point the original actors could be computer generated. Either this, or sell it back to Lucas, and let him do HIS idea for a sequel trilogy.

and to think that george lucas thought his movie would be a flop so he went on vacation with his friend, another up and comer director ..... someone name steven speilberg during the movie premiere
