My name is Samantha and when I lived in Japan everyone there pronounced my name as Samansa because the Japanese language doesn't have the th sound in it. Maya actually pronounced it almost perfectly. Her and my ex-husband, who is also Japanese, are the only Japanese people who I've heard do a good job pronouncing the th sound in my name. Maya also did a good job pronouncing the th sound in Catherine.

because maya is the only one fluent in english. the other members are conversational, but most likely feel more comfortable speaking in their native tongue. it also depends on the interview and where it’s being filmed from.

Maya attended international school, so she knows how to converse in English. As for the other girls, musical lyrics are easier to memorize and remember but it’s not like it'll help them use English conversationally when they haven't really studied it as long as Maya has. There’s no work your brain has to do when just singing, you just repeat the words to the tune of the melody. Now what I don’t understand is why the majority of them are better with Korean than English being marketed as a “global group,” but they’re a Japanese global girl group based in Korea 😅 kind of confusing.

​@@EddieSmith917 It's not an overstatement. Juria, Chisa, Harvey and Hinata can converse in English as well, just not at Maya's fluent level. Jurin and Cocona can also converse in English just to a lesser extent than the other four.
