Maya has totally by accident had the best character arc ever on this show. She was this happy girl who thought she had everything and the guy of her dreams. Her problems in season one was small breasts and cello problems. Then Cam died and she didn't know how to react, her perfect life wasn't that anymore. So she left those memories behind her and instead of learning from cams mistakes tried to ignore them. She dated guys who would likely do the same thing as Cam (miles is who I'm referencing) but she continued to ignore it. She slowly started hanging out with more and more toxic people, some of whom became genuine friends and others screwed her over. She wasn't a little girl anymore. Now she experiences a horrifying disaster and she understands Cam now. But for her it's not about the pain it's about the beauty of it. I think she loves Cam to this day and needs to release this sadness she can't get rid of. Zig is the closest thing she had but even he broke her more. I can't stop crying about Maya's arc, it's so sad, sadder then any character in any tv show I've ever seen. Thank u for uploading this its my fav song from the show.

putting aside how serious Maya's storyline is, I think in this scene she had truly made peace with herself about committing suicide. that's why she spent the last night with her family, and why she was in a good mood the next morning because she knew that she was finally going to be free at the end of the day. no more sadness, anger, and numbness; no more people leaving her and no more people not understanding her. she was going through her pictures and reminiscing because she truly loves the people in those photographs but she felt as if they'd be better off without her. she wrote this song as her farewell to let people know that even though she was going to be gone, she was going to be happy because she was going to a better place. she smiled at the end because she knew that that day was going to be the first time in a long time where she was going to feel something; where she was going to be free. I related to maya this season so much because almost 2 years ago I went through the same situations which were depression and numbness and her character arc really showed just how serious those situations are. Olivia acted them out so well to the point where the storyline was beautifully executed and i can't wait to see what's in store for Maya next season.

Maya's character arc really put tears to my eyes. Watching her go from this happy girl to going on a downward spiral was hard. I wanted so badly to reach through the screen and make her happy. Even though she is just a character, her situation is real and serious. She acted them out perfectly and made it very believable. I'm looking forward to season 4 even though season 3 made me cry.

I need this song to become a full song because i love it. It shows mayas struggle and then acceptance of what shes doing. Degrassi has ruined my life... im kinda glad but at the same time not because they just kill you on the inside sometimes....

I legit cried especially when she smiled at the end. She has grown so much on the show. I'm glad she didn't die.

I like how this song has two meanings: it could mean Maya's attempt at suicide where she thinks that if she kills herself, she'd finally be free of everything and because she thinks everyone would be better off without her but I also like that it could also mean the graduation scene where everyone's heading into different paths in life after high school and they're finally free. It's such an amazing song! I wish there was a full version to it!

Honestly this is by far my most favorite season of the whole Degrassi next class

When I first heard this song I didn't really pay attention. After watching the ending, I watched it again and it's seriously the most depressing scene. I can't believe this was her farewell song.

Maya had such a powerful ending moment, she is one of the strongest in Degrassi! ✊

Degrassi is probably one of the most realistic and best TV shows of all times..It deals with serious topics such as depression and suicide yet doesn’t romanticize them and shows just how ugly and unsuspecting real life can become. Maya will forever be a lesson to me and one of my favorite characters.

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!! This song gave me so many feels. Olivia's voice is so angelic. Great way to start the finale episode with a song as deep as this. But I loved what they did with Maya this season. All that she was going through was just so realistic and you felt it. Olivia was FANTASTIC in portraying a teen going through depression. Excited to see where she goes from here and see her recovery process. It will be a beautiful thing when she comes out on top. Can't wait to see that.

I just realized while watching this, Maya"s entire time on the show has had her surrounded by death. Katie overdosed in season 11(but survived, obviously), of course, there was Cam in season 12, which took her two season to get over, then Adam(they were in WhisperHug together) in season 13. Then her arc with Zig, she fought so hard to protect him from the gang, then she had to relive everything with Cam through Miles. It finally seemed like things were getting better when she and Zig finally got together, then he broke her heart. Then, when it looked like they might be able to at least be friends again, the bus crash happened. And while on the surface, Mayas was lucky to survive, she didn't come out of it unscathed. While likely not planned that far back, if you watch from her first appearance to this, it seems like this was always the way things would go.

Whenever i hear this song i feel like i cant breathe because she sings it so beautiful.

I haven't rlly cared much for Maya or Olivia's acting and singing the past few seasons, but this season was amazing. Felt like I was watching the old Degrassi. Maya's arc this season has got to be the most realistic, touching and well done depression/suicide storyline that Degrassi has ever done. I finally cared about Maya again, and Olivia's acting and singing was a has improved from the past couple of seasons. Degrassi Next Class season 3 is the best season of Degrassi in such a long time. It's renewed my love for the show and made me care about a lot of characters who I didn't rlly care much for before. Well done. I hope that season 4 is just as good!

Maya's storyline and character is probably the most accurate depiction of depression ive seen in a tv show. i really appreciate that. there is so much more to depression than most people seem to know, so i am glad she was able to bring a lot of it to light.

I watched this last night and I'm still crying. But I love how she did it so peacefully and happy. I hopes she gets what she wants but I also want her to live.

So rare that a scene can be joyous and heartbreaking at the same time. It felt like Katie coming home in the previous episode was what Maya needed to break out her depression, then you get the end of that episode, and this here, and you know, as happy as she seems, all is not well. As someone who deals with anxiety and depression on a daily basis, this storyline hit close to home for me.

I couldn't help but feel like Maya was being lowkey extra this season. Like i legitimately just wanted her to sit down, get some help, and chill out. But, I understand that people don't handle trauma the same and try to cope in different ways so, they don't always feel so consumed by it. It made me kind of emotional to see her spiraling down and down just like Cam. I understand their situations and breaking points were different. But, to see her arrive at that decision just like he did. God, it was absolutely heart wrenching.
