If you are in an area where your pipes might freeze due to a small temp dip, you need to leave a couple taps dripping. The small movement will keep it from freezing. Pipes freezing solid is an AWESOME way to break fittings.
Oreos are vegan, and might help with the "creamy" craving. My two younger siblings have been vegetarian/vegan for 10+ years, and it is difficult, especially at the start. But you find a ton of good recipes, and find your groove after a couple months. Good luck!
Wait... Why is the chocolate/mint not vegan?? I'm clearly missing something obvious, but I'm not putting it together.. Edit: Oh! Milk chocolate. I see.
why is preventing animal exploitation and harm extreme? i live the healthiest and happiest live, diet wise, since going vegan. imagine not knowing how to cook banger meals
someone tell Maya to get some chickpea/lentil pasta lol, or just beans/legumes in general. Also get nutritional yeast to sprinkle on stuff, easy 5 grams of protein for two tablespoons
@@BenjoCovers No offense but that is not true at all, I also don't know what you mean by "50% protein". I'm vegetarian and while nuts are still healthy to eat, they aren't that great of a protein source. For example you'd need to eat 100g of almonds for just 21g of protein, and that's almost 600 calories, so not a good source of protein, and nothing close to meat.
@@boredguy5805 You are right, its not 50%, idk what i was saying there. They can still match most types of meat tho, if you take something like peanuts or hemp seeds Nobody asks you to get all your protein from them but its still a great source to contribute to your overall intake and provides a lot of other essential nutrients, while cutting out the bad proteins and fats from meat. May i ask why you are Vegetarian? Its a terrible diet
Yeah it's just funny watching people that live in areas to avoid weather conditions and then they get like half of what everyone else is getting across all of the US and so they complain and their world shuts down because it went below 30 degrees
if you are expecting sub freezing temps you should leave faucet dripping to keep water flowing in pipes so it's less likely to freeze. good idea to put heat tape on anything exposed/uninsulated, it's a thermostatically controlled cable heater, like an extension cord that gets warm when it's below freezing so your pipes won't freeze.
mashed potatoes can be so creamy and still vegan with the right ingredients mm!! also chickpeas/hummus and mashed cauliflower are both very good B) healthy and animal-friendly changes yay!! i used to be vegetarian/vegan when possible but after a hospital visit it’s not recommended for me anymore :( but i still do my best to make positive choices and pretty much never eat beef so yippee
Vegan tips💚: eat slightly bigger portions or one extra snack because whole food vegan food have less calories. Protein and fat is very important to feel full and stay full longer. Also supplement B12 (even if that means drinking an energy drink), omega3 and iodine (unless you ate seaweed that day), as these vitamins are not plentiful. Hope this helps anyone💪
As someone who is gaining weight, you dont have to eat more on a vegan diet, you just have to eat the right things. I make a plate of salad that has 800 calories. Just add quinoa and nuts and seeds and legumes and avocados and whatnot. EASY
Respect for going vegan in general, I just implore you to think about why you went vegan in the first place. Wish you the best though and don’t forget vitamin B12 supplementation.
Highly recommend freezing fruits, especially bananas. If you toss them into a blender with oat milk, you get a very creamy banana oat milk shake, which fulfills my dairy cravings fairly well! I usually add some more variety of other fruits to it, because I am not the biggest fan of pure banana, but it does the trick for me. Edit: Another snack idea: getting VEGAN tortilla chips (not from Doritos, please) and eat them with guacamole or salsa. Tajin (the spicy seasoning) is also something that you can consider adding to your popcorn to give it some more flavor. Generally, I'd recommend looking for snacking alternatives in both Asian and Mexican/South American cuisine, because they have a lot of foods that can be easily transformed into vegan snacks! Also, keep in mind that not every bread is vegan. For example a typical brioche bread, tends to contain milk or eggs, so you do have to look at the ingredients list whenever you buy bread to make sure it's actually vegan. PS: PLEASE CONTINUE TO AVOID MCDONALDS EVEN AFTER JANUARY, BECAUSE THEY SUPPORT WHAT'S GOING ON IN THE MIDDLE EAST. FREE PALESTINE 🍉!!!
I'm trying to be vegan but the only sweetener I can eat is honey so I've kinda gotta have that and i eat eggs from my own chickens cause ik they aren't abused
Eating out is always the greatest challenge when it comes to eating vegan. The awesome thing is just by limiting your consumption you’re contributing to lowering demand of animal ag products. Please keep it up in a way that works for you!! Going mostly plant based and feeling satisfied and successful will have better long term outcomes than going fully vegan and getting frustrated and stopping. Thank you Maya!
I respect any effort challenging their current consumption habits and critically tries to improve it in their situation. its work and energy consuming. thank you for caring #earthOvershootDay
Make sure your getting enough essential 9 aminos acids. Your body will struggle to absorb proteins properly if the amino acid complex is not balanced. Omegas are very important. Hard to get if your not consuming animal oils. Mushrooms, avocados and nut butters are food for this. Carbs are still really bad for you, try to avoid them and don’t let them be a replacement for other calories. Fermented foods are VERY important for proper digestion of a vegan diet.
yeah, going out or going to non-vegans' houses to eat is where eating vegan is the most difficult. i tried going fully vegan but after two months i resolved to just eat vegan* at home, then try to avoid beef and large amounts of dairy when not at home. it's more sustainable for me, and i don't feel like an asshole visiting my parents or friends with a diet so wildly different than theirs. plus, i cook like 95% of what i eat. *still haven't found good non-dairy substitutes for extra sharp cheddar, parmesan, and sour cream so i cheat with those at home. but only small amounts.
I heard in a veganism documentary a long time ago that dairy/cheese can have some kind of addictive qualities to it. I wasn't sure how accurate it was at first, but I had pretty intense cravings for cheese. Vegan cheese is really good, but there is some itch that I can't describe that it just doesn't scratch perfectly. It makes me wonder if there was some truth to it. Also: skinny pop's white cheddar flavor is vegan and delicious, original airheads are vegan, oreos are vegan, pretzel crisps (some of the flavors at least like everything and the original) are as well.
my mom and my sister use Cricuts for their businesses, my sister heat presses logos onto clothes and puts logos on mugs, and my mom knits little animals with custom made eyes on them
Dear Maya, You are *absolutely* allowed to be/feel cold _and_ speak on it, no matter the actual/exact temperature. (I know that you don’t need _anyone’s_ permission to do so, including mine. I just wanted to put all of this out there!) I am soooo sorry that there are *so* many d-bag people out there who feel the need to share their unwarranted, asshat thoughts/feelings/opinions, even though they are *never* asked for. People majorly blow and I’m incredibly sorry that you have to deal with so damn many of them all of the time! You’re _such_ a freaking bad ass! ALSO, this is _completely_ off topic from the rest of my comment, but I’m hella curious! First of all, yes, I’m very familiar with Shrinky Dinks. My mom and my aunt were majorly into crafts when I was little and they would always find kid friendly crafts for my cousins and I to do so that were weren’t constantly bugging the hell out of them while they were working on theirs. Shrinky Dinks and Perler Beads were tied as the #1 favorites of ours so we were making shit with those two *all* the time! _Anyway,_ I couldn’t help but notice that you said something along the lines of “they sent (you) Shrinky Dinks…” and I just gotta know, who in the world is “they”?! What mystery organization was sending little Maya Shrinky Dinks?! lol. (Yes, I typed _alllllll_ of that just to ask this simple, _stupid_ question. lol.)
A sweatshirt at 18C is fucking hilarious tho. I think I like the cold more probably but 65F is real nice medium temp. 18-22C is like a perfect spring day
i tried it for a whole year it def isnt easy, thats why i had to go back to eating meat. my hands were always cold, i almost always felt weak and my mood was shitty alot of the time. that freelee chick is still going strong after all these years. some ppl can do it, others cant. that lifestyle is just not for everyone tbh
Really? Going vegan have never been easier especially in this day and age. There are simply tons of varieties of food and commercially available meat substitute. Also you don't necessarily need to cut meat products entirely out of your diet, there are also lacto-oco vegetarianism which you can practice which eshew the consumption of meat but not dairy products like milk and eggs. Most Hindu in India whom practice veganism falls into the lacto-ovo vegetarian category.
I crave alcohol everyday ever since I quit in my early 20s. Does that craving then justify me drinking every time I crave it? My body may want it but my mind knows better. If you crave dairy, then have some plant-based alternatives. There's over a dozen types of plant milk and most grocery stores have a few options to choose from. I don't think a craving should justify partaking in animal cruelty again. Any sip of milk is basically saying "my cravings are more important than the life of a sentient being."
Im not trying to be rude, but Isnt veganism pretty invasive to land used by amphibians and birds? I dont know for sure but I wanted to see if you could look into it for me! As a frog myself I have alot of concerns.
It may be cold where you are and Texas doesn't have it, but you yourself definitely have the funds to have infrastructure in place to keep you and Alveus comfortable. Why the Theatrics?
I tried to go vegan but the dinners at the korean table were too much of a hassle, just eat yhe kalbi , and the chicken soup , the , beef korean hot pot, delicious, vegan at a Korean table is just eating kim and rice, there are healthier choices, the tortoise eats what, and the trees breathe air
Goin vegan can cater to Jews like Lauren Donzis , who I want to date, and can eat kosher foods like Kentucky fried chicken but vegan not deculging any secret recipes
Big respect for trying the whole vegan thing... I tried it a while back, lasted two weeks and broke one night after some drinks with buddies and grabbed pizza LOL. Stay warm, for Texas that is hella cold... Here in Canada its -40 so its getting warmer xD BUT I understand the whole climatization thing. We get used to it pretty quick due to our winters but again, for Texas that is brutal!
@@redfordreddington8834 No, it even says in the documentary those scenes, even if most of them are in australia, can be seen all around the globe, not just Australia. There is a whole section of the documentary talkin bout that
Maya start eating protein. Tofu, Textured Vegetable Protein aka TVP, Seitan or make Seitan yourself (SUPER EASY, just Vital Wheat Gluten aka VWG it becomes dough like and almost chicken texture). Get Edamame as part of your veggies (a lot of protein too).Oh and you can look up Nutritional yeast super good (Bob's Red Mill is not bad for that). Just eat at least like 50-100g of protein a day and you will feel really good.
50+ is crazy for someone her size. That's legit bodybuilder's numbers and not even professional athletes seek those numbers and the ones that reach 100 is usually cause they simply spend much more energy than the average andie / gym bro and just naturally eat more food but without the hyperfocus on protein and seeing every meal as numbers. You are just brain washed by supplements industry and influencers.
@@maiyorha I'm sorry to say, if you do this for the cows and chicken you're not changing anything. If you do it for your moral compass, go ahead. But don't pretend you're changing anything. It's just one more pack of eggs that get thrown into the garbage because they weren't sold in time.
@@imyournme6632 aw looks like someone doesn't know what supply and demand is! vegan products are on the rise everywhere. but hey, go ahead not feeling an ounce of compassion for animals. you do you. :)
@@maiyorha Oh god, i've been around this dialogue tree too many times to care about the pathetic attempt to explain the intracacies of supply and demand. Let me just say you are all part of a collective of stats considered by all these factory farming meat productions. I love animals despite what you think. I don't really care if you wanna live in that self righteous bubble of course thinking you are somehow morally superior to me cause you don't eat meat. This is btw the largest reason your side never wins large groups over for the long term.
@@imyournme6632 it's all about compassion and awareness. maybe one day you will stop justifying the harm you cause. maybe. and im lol-ing at "our side" hahaha good one!
any dietary change takes time, or is the brainwashing of one of the most profitable industries (the meat/animal farming industry) already so stuck in ur lil brain?
@@cactustactics i dont think that response proved what you wanted it to. there's a reason milk is for children. its an excellent source of vitamins and minerals, particularly calcium. amazing for bone and joint health and recommended by any half decent nutritionist in the world. but sure, yeah lets not consume it
@@Grizzleburrr I mean it's literally food for baby mammals until they're ready for an adult diet. Humans eat dairy (from other species!) because we like it, there's nothing "supposed to" about it. Adult lactose tolerance is something we had to evolve, and the majority of people are still intolerant to it to some degree - there's nothing "unnatural" about avoiding pregnant cow fluids in your diet y'know
@@cactustactics our diets are ever evolving, and i am saying milk, lactose in general, is one of the biggest breakthroughs in diet we have had in a long time. to purposely avoid it is your choice, but it has been in our evolution for a reason. because its good for us
God Ahayah literally made some animals to be eaten. To be food. *THEIR NEEDED, TO BE EATEN* ppl need to wake up to Reality. But there is unclean in the bible as well. Pork & shell fish aka water bugs insects as the main example
They are not animals. "Animal" is a way to define one of the kingdoms in biology, they are defined by separate kingdoms because of their fundamental differences. Livestock fit into the animal kingdom, while many of the plants we eat fit into the plant kingdom. If you wanted to group animals and plants as one thing, you can call us all eukaryotes.
Probably fat and just coping trying to make others to be more like them. It's like some bald dudes feeling an urge to tell everyone that has slightly matured hairline, which is perfectly fine, to shave it off or tell long hair dudes that they should rock buzz cut. By the way it's not an attack towards fat people, you are cool as long as you don't come to random perfectly healthy looking people and start screeching that they are too skinny, on the verge of getting sick, etc.@@D_nKing
