Ben isn't 'reviewing' per se. He's shooting what he wants, and documenting his experience doing that. Still interesting to watch and hear his thoughts.
For most people, guns are like purses or shoes for women-more of an accessory than a tool. They’re not bought for practical use, but because they complement an outfit or project a certain image. It’s not about function; it’s about the way they feel wearing them, and the compliments they get from their friends.
Only true among “gun guys”. If anything the problem is the opposite for most gun owners - they buy one stock gun and then treat it like their other tools: they store it away and don’t think about it until they think they need it
@@michaelturk7237 😂 Yep. In my opinion the best Sigs are the ones that have had so many components replaced, that it’s no longer really a Sig. Again, just my opinion if anyone reading this gets their fragile feelings hurt.
I like to shoot my Shadow 2 for production but wanted to run it for CO as well as. Primary Machine had factory S2 slides and I chose the Harbinger V2 cuts + milling for SRO and now I have best of both worlds!
I don't replace slides on guns. However, what I will do is buy a stripped frame, and then add the components that I want from the beginning. So it's a custom assembled gun. I think that's what aftermarket top ends are for. For those of us who want to custom assemble from the beginning. But, yes, buying an entire gun and then removing half of it, that doesn't make sense to me, either. Recently, I purchased a stripped GEN 3 Glock 19 frame. And then I custom assembled it with the parts that I wanted, including an aftermarket slide from Zev. The aftermarket slide was lighter than the Glock slide (which I wanted it for this particular build, because I'm dealing with a compensator ) and it had a direct mill option for the 507C. But, it's what I wanted from the beginning. And, it's what I got from the beginning.
That is the new Mason Lane slide from GrayGuns, which is a 4.7 inch hand fitted bull barrel. I have the GrayGuns Lockwood, which is a 4.7 barrel just different looking slide, on my X5 legion and I like it. The one thing I noticed right away was an improvement on accuracy. After using my stock x5 legion trigger for about 6 months I put a GrayGuns in it and like it much better.
Only reason ppl buy slides now cause there the same cost as a good optics cut and ports ..The simple ..im sure guts still are slapping glocks together cause of the better frames now p80 and Gritt are solid options
Here in Communist California we were limited to what Sigs we could buy until just recently. Myself ... I bought a Franklin Armory CA320 just prior to the M18's being available in 2023, just to get the FCU. Buying a complete 320 was crazy expensive and had to be shipped from out of state used! (double to MSRP) I built mine from the FCU up with a different grip module and a X5 slide from Sig. The slide your are holding from Grayguns looks like the Mason Lane slide with a bull barrel. I'm will like to see what you think. I know everyone complains about the trigger in the 320. I know a few guys like me that shoot USPSA with it and don't really notice it when shoot at speed. Enjoy the journey!
Well Ben, I am one of those who bought an aftermarket slide for my Gen 3, the price of getting it direct milled vs buying one from Brownells was comparable. We cannot buy any Glock after Gen 3, cries in CA.
uh oh... now the forums are going to be lit with people who already modified their guns questioning why others modify their guns cause Ben said its not cool
Never apologize Ben when it comes to content on this channel. I personally enjoy the 4-5 minute rants. If you want to run a skittles sig or aftermarket slide then do it. You’re human like the rest of us.
Went with an aftermarket slide for glock for the superior mounting solution for 507Cs the brownells slide had. Came with custom screws and recoil bosses to shield the screws from recoil forces. Also been reliable as all hell with 4k+ rounds.
My after market slide for 43x from Brownell's has been good to go. Its stupid cheap compared to a new gun or even sending it off. Now it has a dot. 5k rounds later and its working nice
Obviously, my following comment is not aimed at Ben, I have been told and since I 100% agree I share this comment, that gear is meant to make you better, not do the job for you, I have seen Glocks with $1000 in aftermarket parts on them and when you ask how many rounds have you run through it, most of the time it is a minimal amount and a couple of times I was shocked in this case in particular when they said, ohh I haven't shot it yet, I told them you should have spent that grand + on ammo and a class, and all I got back was a blank stare...
I have one of those GGI "uppers" with the other slide cuts and I like it but can't decide if it's better or worse than my 1st production run 320X5. It looks nicer but that's about it.
I think aftermarket slides are a big thing these days because of how many people build glocks/ sigs from the ground up instead of buying a complete one and modifying it.
Nice stuff Ben. I'm a competitive shooter using Beretta 92's. Hyper reliable and very accurate. I build Beretta race guns. I built a wild Beretta 92 open class, a picture of it actually hangs in Beretta's CEO office in Italy.... Through a few people I knew of course. Be more than happy to send you a few pictures of it I built it back in 2011. Keep up the good work and the good content Ben love it man.
From what I’ve read I think the biggest benefit to getting a Grayguns slide would be if it’s one of their bull barrel slide models, where the barrel is fit to the slide, which would assumedly grant greater accuracy.
@@newerest1 That’s often the of a lot of the differences when it comes to “performance upgrades” for guns, chasing percentiles of improvement. I just said that was the biggest benefit, not that it was going to be a complete game changer.
You and Joel made a video 3 months ago on the Benstoegerproshop channel where Joel used the term "find the dot." Joel MUST be inexperienced and a bad shooter because he said "find the dot." I've seen others comment on this but you have deleted those comments. Is it hypocrisy or a complete lack of integrity on your part?
If you can't understand the nuance between "find" meaning "searching for the dot cause you have a shitty index" and "find" meaning "seeing the dot in shitty lighting" there's no helping you.
Dave and Ra are the 2 gay dudes that tried to pickup Ben due to those golden locks. Ben told them, he only dates shallow plastic hot chick's from Scottsdale. They're both still butt hurt.
