I learned this when I was about 14 when it was new. Took me months to figure out the two lead solos listening to a cassette recording of an FM station - folks don't know what a treasure it is to have you just sit there and play it for them. The solos are simple but two of my favorites of all time.
Dude your awesome. I've been playing for over 30 years off and on. I take what I learn from you to improve My playing. Thanks and keep up the great work!
Fantastic work JJ, my favourite solo of all time, can't believe Paul played it, thanks for all your brilliant videos, you are a total legend mate James H from Australia
McCartneys current band AWESOME! Saw them front row in 05 at MSG! My guitar player won tix on FUV! But have soft spot for this version of Wings! Lead guitarist especially-Marshall cabs and Bassman Heads Baby! Nice job JJ!
How in the Heck do you do this? I mean, how long does it take you to master a song? Are these songs you've played hundreds of times or do just learn them fast. Unreal
Best version ever. Thanks for posting ! Btw anyone noticed the vocals are slightly of the centre ? Why ? It really annoys me when listening on headphones. Anyway, can you do more songs from WOA ? It's really a great album !! Medicine Jar, Soily, Richard Cory... ?
Usually a G5, unless there's some specific need for that B note, like hammering it on or something. It's actually not all that unusual for guitar players to just mute that B note, especially rock players.
It certainly does. A long time ago, I learnt this song from Marty Schwartz on the acoustic. I pushed myself to do the A-shaped barré chord for the Bb and Eb chords in this song.
I still remember watching PT's cover of Things We Said Today. He did Bb by covering the D,G and B strings with his pinky and using his thumb to cover the A string. I still can't do that, and I think I never will.
Yeah he even stated before that his fingering will be different from other Guitarists. Like Beautiful Girls by Van Halen, the A blues run he does, he does it in fifth position while other guitar players including EVH himself does it in first position.
schepler2 I agree. To me this version is the definitive version, but I think the Wings guitarist is playing the solo riff much closer to Ron Woods version than the way it was played on the Paul McCartney studio version.
