Trying to get the last chores done before we head out for vacation but maybe I'm jumping the gun. I used my John Deere 318 and tried to prep the yard for seeding before heading out on Spring Break.
How about a giant gazebo on the old silo pad for a project idea? You could deck it out with an outdoor kitchen... Be a great addition to the pond for entertaining.
Anytime I can watch Neil on his tractor pulling a box blade, it's a great day! You are the Master of the Box Blade, and I love how you use your equipment! I can't wait for me, especially on the best driveway in the USA! The pond looks amazing! Thanks for sharing!
Pro-tip for you. Use some fine sand to fill the saw cuts up to about 1/2” from the top surface and then use gray Sikaflex SL1 caulk, it’s the best, to seal up the joints. Be sure to use some tape or something else to cover the ends so the caulk doesn’t run out the ends. Keep the videos coming, you’re doing great. You’re showing those who watch that hard work pays off and so much more…
Nice job Neil. I had to make a list, just kept seeing more things to do and kept getting side tracked. Squirrel! Lol. Thanks for sharing. Cheers, Mike.
Dear Neil Koch and the Dig-Drive-DIY Team, I just wanted to say a big thank you for the incredible content you share on your RU-vid channel. Your passion, expertise, and commitment to creativity shine through in every project you undertake. From transforming backyards into natural pool oases to crafting intricate woodworking projects, your videos are a constant source of inspiration. Keep up the fantastic work🙂
Neil, I can't put my finger on it but I can't get enough of your content and channel! I can watch anything you out! I love it, and you are the best! #1 ranked on my RU-vid list
Never to early! Waiting for the water to drain out in southern Ontario Canada. The family looks forward to every Sunday after dinner to watch DDD, core memories in the making!
I have the same seeder. I ended up smashing the tubing of the hitch just a little bit, and drilled a hole between the tubes. That way I can slide in into a 2 inch receiver, one the three point on my 322. Then I can still pull it with any tractor, or if someone wants to barrow it. But I can just lift it , to not have the curves, or to go over hard stuff. Like sidewalks or driveways, without getting of the tractor
Your videos always remind me how much one can accomplish when you mix equal parts of can-do spirit and positive attitude. And I’ll editorialize - throw in a wholesome disposition and you’ll have the world at your beck and call!
You talked about the steering brakes on Bruno. I have to agree I've got a 1978 316K the Kohler powered 316 based on the 300 model dual hydraulic and dual brakes to. I have to agree they are nice to move around with in tight spots. I also want to say you've had a impact on me in regards to buying my 316K when mine came up for sale locally I had to grab it and I love it so far!
I truly enjoy your videos. Your personality is calming. Such a great attitude You are truly blessed with a wonderful family and home. 😇 God gets all the glory.
BlufftonReiff here. I really like your hydraulic box vs the electric. For me I’d want the faster controls. Thanks for the Sunday installment! And congrats on the channel growth!
Hi Neil, great video today, we have spring fever too in the UK, finally some sun today. If you get a moment, it would be great if you would settle an argument that I have with my wife, as she spotted your wording on the wall in your barn when you reached for your compressor. To explain, my wife has always joked that you are my long lost brother, as she thinks that we look similar, are about the same age and both like your way of life. To top it all, we have a cockapoo just like yours. Anyway, back to the question, my surname is Miller (the wording in your barn), so please let her know that we are not related! 😀
Ahh, a very astute observation! But I hate to be the bearer of bad news for your wife... Because Miller is my wife 's maiden name! My paternal surnames are Koch and Walker and maternal surnames are Schaefer and Baughman. The sign you see on my wall was a video prop from something I did a couple years ago. It was a fun video so if you want to see the reason for the sign you can check it out here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KTwNcdT_4ss.html
@@digdrivediy Ah ha, I'll let her know. Thanks for the link, what a, cute funny video, really enjoyed it. I use a similar strategy with my guilty pleasures, say that it's just for the wife, or sometimes the children, either way you can save face with your pals. Have a great family time this summer All the best Andrew & Lisa
I hope maybe you’ll allow me to share some unsolicited advice? If not, ignore what follows: Granted it’s in Southern California, but when my children were young I continued around the back of my property a tree line similar to the one you have (that I think is of the juniper variety). Anyways, I had heard about a study about how boundaries - whether physical, or even of the disciplinary variety - how they actually make people feel more comfortable. So every time I see your beautiful pond I find myself wishing the next video will be of you planting another line of trees across the back of your property. Of course, it’s really hard to tell what solution do from watching a two dimensional video on an iPad - I mean, maybe you guys love the view and it would interrupt that - I don’t know, just thought I’d pass it along. Keep up the good work and the great videos! David Epp from So Cal
Hey thanks David! We have certainly discussed putting in another tree line across the back. Also have thought about a fence of some sort. We enjoy when there is corn around us too as it provides a "natural fence" for 6 months of the year, every other year. But on the other hand we do like the view out back once the corn is gone. I appreciate the advice most definitely. We will continue to discuss it I'm sure but we keep coming back to the idea of a wire based fence of some sort. Something that will help keep the corn fodder out but allow the views in.
I used the grapple on my little 2025R yesterday to help the neighbor tear down a little shed and load it into a dumpster. I bought the M12 inflater before they came out with the M18. It works great but I think I would rather have the M18. Instead of jumping on the M12 pruner I am waiting for the M18.
Good video, it will be interesting to see that seed will germinate based on temps. Look forward to the collab with Cairn. I watch his videos and seems like a good dude.
Hi Neil, hope your family had a fun time on vacation! My family and I were there at the same time and I actually saw you at the airport getting ready to go home. Was sort of a cool moment to see one of my favorite youtubers in real life ;) (felt like a star-struck youngster!) My wife said I should have said hi, but I didn't want to interrupt your family time; and no-one likes to "work" on vacation! So, this comment will serve as a substitute! Love everything about your videos from the content to production value to "real-ness" to entertainment value, thanks for sharing with us all.
Oh wow! You definitely should have said Hi though! We had a great time in Florida but I couldn't believe the security line at that airport! Really appreciate the kind words and to have you following along. Next time though be sure to at least wave or something! ;)
Neil this was so fascinating and enjoyable to watch. I have a lot of comments.... So the driveway.... (Enough said!😅). Then you have your own Electrical store on sight with aisles! Then your ability to use your McGyver skills to install anything.... Then the driveway again (can't say enough about it) you have a hardware store dream place! I loved the video!
You may have addressed this in an earlier video, but was curious as to why you don’t need a fence around your pond. Is it because it isn’t a pool but classified as a pond? Your property is looking great. Just beautiful!!
Bonjour Neil. Emmanuel.
I see you joined the Labradoodle craze. Seems everybody has one these days and I'm sure you could make a video about that dog. My daughter recently bought one and it's a fun dog, as long as somebody else owns it. It's out of my price range for sure. And you better keep it on a lease until you get that invisible fence fixed. They like to run. (Away) It's nice to see you're out getting the spring chores done. Did you folks get hit with any of those recent storms?
She does like to run! I let the wife pick the dog. The doodle part means less hair everywhere is the main reason for wanting her since she goes in the house.
I think you and I are living parallel lives! So many of my projects come along about the same time as yours. My wife just shakes her head when we watch your videos together. So, I just rented a ride on Ryan aerator. After I spent ten, yes ten hours doing my yard, I just had to go over and do a good buddy’s yard as well. (You know how that is) He totally forgot about his dog fence wire and my skilled driving hit it all the way down the sidewalk right over the wire. 🤦🏻 What I learned though is that they now have geo tracked invisible fences that you set up using a satellite view of your yard. You can take it with you wherever you go and just reset the perimeter for your new temporary location. You might want to look into that. Hope my seed didn’t get totally washed away by last Mondays deluge here in Central Indiana!
I finally gave in and mowed our yard yesterday. Any longer and I would have had to rent a baler. I've got a 10 year old Troy Bilt rider that I've done virtually no maintenance on since I bought it and it just starts and runs every time. It's to the point I'm afraid if I put new parts on it (other than blades & batteries) it will blow up.
Gotta pull my 425 trans-axle out again, somethings broke in there. A gears slipping when try to move, Locked it will push right though. LOL Wish I could find a parts mower, they're getting rare around PNW. Edit, I made my own loader in lockdown and think she's pushed to the max, frame is splitting. Doh!
Hey Neil...Love your videos, on a side note.....was just wondering how you like the Tifosi sunglasses? Was just looking at the same pair and was wondering if the were comfortable or not? Those lenses look tinted??? Thanks
I really like them and for me they are very comfortable. Yes, the lenses auto tint or darken as it gets brighter and I really love that feature because I don't have to take them off to see when it's cloudy or sitting in the truck.
Hi Neil. The yard is looking good! Bruno is out stretching his legs. Not being too knowledgeable about tractors, do the dual rear brakes work similar to a tracked vehicle? I.E, holding the brake stops one rear wheel so the tractor pivots on the other? Thanks for the video!
Yes, that's exactly how the brakes work. It really helps you to spin around a tight circle but can also make some burn out marks in the grass if you're not careful!
@@georgeenriquez612 oh sorry I replied to the wrong comment apparently. My backhoe is a 1998. I think they changed from the D to an E in 1997. The E has a different boom and extendahoe design.
Neil, a buddy of mine just retired from a lifetime of Masonry work. He got me started in using Vulkem Polyurethane concrete crack sealer. It is about the same color as concrete, has a texture that matches and remains flexible. I have 15 year old cracks that have spread, heaved and still remain sealed. Filling and packing a trench without destroying the surface on each side is really a challenge in a finished yard. That orbital scraper is the perfect answer. I think planting grass before it’s time to sprout is the way to go… if you can do it. Are you going to straw it before it sprouts? It looked to me that Kara had the more difficult job… a bit of washing and a whole lot of dog training, hydrating and of course… supervising! LOL
I thought about strawing it. I hate the thought of loose straw out there so might get another roll of mat. Calling for another big rain and if we finally get some heat we might just get it going I hope. Now off to go shop for that concrete caulk though first!
Neil, good job using your various tools. I had a power line buried and the trench is just likes yours with a deep swell. I have been over it a dozen times with a land plane trying to fill it in, But between sticky clay and sand stone rock it is a challenge. Almost there now. But can't be too wet or too dry. !
Good morning, a little Elbow Tractor Grease applied Seeing a Vision, putting in the time, it looks really good assuring a Harvest of Future Smiles. It’s an amazing view you have there. 😀👍👍👍
