This video is from a ride we took with the Lake Norman Overlanding and Offroad group to Hurricane Creek Road in Western North Carolina. This trail truly has a little bit of everything, which is why it's one of my new favorite trails in NC.

Hurricane Creek is a surprisingly fun trail. It's got a few decent campsites as well.

Yes, I was surprised that only 1 campsite was being used and no other groups came past us when we stopped for lunch. I just subscribed to your channel…. Looking forward to checking out some of your videos!

I was just there 2x in April. Once in my Sequoia and then in my Jeep. Both times pulling a camper. That spot you stopped for lunch was where we camped. It's a great site right next to the river. It was fun getting into that site through the first entrance with camper. Still have to create the video for YT. I was shocked we didn't come across anyone camping in any of the other water side campsites there.

Wow thanks for sharing this was fun to watch! We have only had our Jeep 2 years and we have almost went to a couple events like this but not sure yet we feel like we have to do a few more things to our jeep to be ready. This was a lot of fun to watch well done filming, editing and sharing. We look forward to watching more of your videos and sending you a big jeep wave!

Hurricane Creek is 4/10 rated. My jeep is a Sport with a 2" spacer lift and 35x11.5x17" Ridge Grapplers and rear LSD. No other performance mods, not even a regear (yet). Only area that gave me a little issue is the rock obstacle at 16:50. Don't be afraid to get out there.

@@venture.explore.discover just now saw this. Appreciate the sub! Had some time off work so I've been able to do some fun off road stuff. Have a few new shorts up I've been able to edit the last few days.

Great video. This is on my list for sure. Are there any other trails out this way. We are in Nashville Tn and some of my buddys have said ita a long drive for a couple hour trail. Thanks

Thank you for watching, and apologies for the delay in my reply! The only other trails in that area that I've done are Shelton Laurel and Goat Trail - both are much shorter and easier.

Love this trail. I've done it twice - first in reverse by accident, then a couple months later I did it the "proper" way. That rock climb at 16:50 is a little spooky when your tires are wet - I did it solo and my rear end started to kick out and I had some thoughts of "uh oh, I'm in trouble." Maybe it'll be easier once I regear. 🤣

How long would you say the trail takes from end to end?
@backwoodstherapy
@backwoodstherapy 9 месяцев назад
@@MIAPhillysorry, I just now saw this. It's probably a good 2-3 hours from start to finish. It's not short, and pretty rocky so your speed is limited. Not particularly hard, but the hardest obstacle is the rock obstacle. Off camber, tires are wet from mud. Once you're through that it's easy peasy. Careful in the ruts tho. People have been known to flip on those.

Wow so it is open again? I thought it was closed down due to excessive trash, etc.
@maximus1720
@maximus1720 7 месяцев назад
I didn’t see really any trash last summer when I went, It’s an absolutely beautiful trail. Unfortunately someone took a tumble and wrecked their vehicle on private property that butts up to the trail. The incident has not caused the trail to close down as far as I know. There are some sketchy parts so do be careful, but most vehicles with 30” tires or bigger can make it. Have fun!!

Could a wide full size truck fit through here
@venture.explore.discover
@venture.explore.discover 6 месяцев назад
I have not been on the trail with a full size truck, but I believe people have done this trail in a full size truck. There is at least one narrow spot where you are climbing up a step with a tree on the right side where it would be good to have someone spot for you to make sure you avoid it, and I would say there is a chance of some pin striping.

Taking our time and with a group of about 10 rigs (so waiting for some to get over obstacles) I think it took us about 2 hours driving time. I’m sure some could do it faster.

Can you do this trail without lockers. I have a 08 2dr. Wrangler with a 4 inch lift, and 35s?
@venture.explore.discover
@venture.explore.discover Год назад
Lockers not required. We don’t have them, and our Jeep is also 08, 2.5” lift and 35s. We were in 4 high for most of it, 4 low for just a few areas.
