I'm honestly amazed how little Star Citizen gets mentioned in these starfield videos. I definitely went back to play No man's sky and star citizen while thinking about what starfield could've been.

It's a shame you can't seemlessly fly into and out of atmo but I can see why they chose not to. It is something I can see getting bored of after doing it 12 times in one session. Buuut I can also see me just flying in and out having a lot of fun Soo.... Yeah I am hyped but also retrained. I am not bothered about shooter RPGs but I do love the look of the ship builder. As always wait for reviews.

I'm with you about having a great Alien game (besides Isolation). All I want is a Third-Person Survival Horror Alien game, something like Dead Space or like the upcoming game, The Callisto Protocol. I'm also a fan of the Space but I read articles and watch documentaries about space more than I play games set in space (Mass Effect and the Outer Worlds were the last I played). That's why when Bethesda announced that they are doing a RPG in space I got so excited because I finally get to play a Space game where I can explore and discover different planets and moons. And after the latest Gameplay reveal I got even more hyped. Despite all the bugs and controversies Bethesda is still my favorite RPG developer. I love Skyrim, Fallout 3-4 and New Vegas to the death, so to me having a Space game from the makers of my favorites RPGs is a dream come true (and maybe a curse lol). All I want is my two favorite things together. "Fallout in Space". About the "Manual Landing" I'm 50/50 about it. While for Immersion, going from planet to planet must be a cool experience but, How long until it gets old? I mean, Imagine if you need materials to make a good armor or weapon and you need to travel to 4-5 planets to get resources, Wouldn't landing become tedious after some time? Specially if you're in a hurry.

lol I already got back into playing NMS and it wasn't even because of the starfield stuff. The Outlaws update just looked so intriguing I had to see what it was all about. And honestly... yeah, this game is feeling even more polished than ever before. Do it. Take the leap. Reinstall NMS.

Why is it immersion breaking? I was still immersed in the entire Mass Effect trilogy and that didn't have space to planet surface landing. Cutscenes are inherently un-immersive. Bethesda didn't say they couldn't do it, just that it wasn't worth the development time compared to all the other things they are doing (like writing an actual l story with dialog, ships combat, the procedural stuff, handcrafted locations). And they literally just made vehicles: in this case ships for this game. And they had vehicles in Fallout 4 (a boat, a train) that all worked without little NPCs beneath them. Considering it was the only vehicles in Fallout 3 why would you create a whole new system for one thing when the AI on an NCP, that was never going to be seen in game, was good enough.. .That seems like efficiency to me. Something they obviously fixed for Skyrim (which had horse and carts) and the aforementioned train and boat in Fallout 4 Despite the above youre then complaining about them not being able to make vehicles properly in a game that was 14 years old, and started development years before that. By that logic, why can't you pick up any objects in Mass Effect 1, because it would have been a waste of development and resources when the game didn't need it. Another point is: tht trian was the only moving vehicles in the game and it came in the DLC, they weren't going to write a whole new system for a modest piece of content after Fallout 3 was already past it prime development cycle. They had mostly moved onto Skyrim by that time. While I do agree the ladder thing is laughable its also understandable when you weight up their systems. They have a complex scripting system, the AI system, the physics, the scripting language, the terrain topography. the ability to follow you pretty much anywhere, and as a result it was too complex to change without rewriting the other system (which granted they should have done a long time ago) but its a bit like how Sony for years wouldn't let you change your username because their underlying system wasn't built for it and they ultimtely had to "fix" it with a patch rather than rewrite their DB as it would have impacted other systems too. Bethesda seemingly use the Creation Engine because they are incredibly efficient with it. You look t something like Assassin Creed Odyssey and its not even half the level of complexity as Bethesda games have been. Every single one of their staff would need to learn a new system (which is generally fine) but that may very well fail to handle all the interlocking systems they use in their games... There's a reason I've sunk over 1000 hours into Skyrim and around 1000 in Fallout 4 and 4 too. Because their systems allow considerably more freedom than other engines have done. Many are saying Unreal Engine could do it, but I'm, not confident it could have until the most recent Unreal Engine 5, and I'm still not sure if it could. I would actually like to see a Bethesda game made in Unreal but not sure if they will ever consider that worthwhile for them. An indie developer did figure out the sky to land transitions in NMS, but flying on the planet had more issues than it had gameplay mechanics to make it worth it. The transition was very clearly just a post-processing effect/texture overlaying the screen and felt great the first few times but then I ultimately just wanted to land and take off quickly. You couldn't do anything flying around on the planet surface except scout for a place to land, but it looks like Starfield has that with a simple "Preview location" button when scanning a planet to land. I also found that you would smack into things in that game and it just felt awkward and was more immersion breaking than Mass Effect just landing/taking off in a cut scene. Each gamer to their own of course, the no man sky comparisons makes little sense to me as Starfield has more in common with Fallout than it does NMS. NMS wasn't the first to do a massive space system anyway (Elite was built in the 90s) and Todd declared that one day they would make a space game after this but long before NMS, and they've been doing procedural generation of some sort in all their games since Daggerfall. Don't get me wrong, I loved NMS, even when I played it at lunch with its many flaws, but everyone is complaining about this games similarities to NMS but then the moment anything is different (like the absence of manual landing) you find people complaining. But I will end with this one comment: Bethesda bugs are rubbish and they need to do better, they always have needed, but at least there was a lot less bugs in Fallout 4 compared to previous titles but still, unacceptable they don't fix up more things like the mod community does. If we can all play their games for 10 years they could at least support them for that long too.. And with that, Holy Bethesda Ladders, my essay is over! 😕
