Hello Kate thanks for this review! I actually made this mascara for Maybelline(yes thats my 9-5 job) and was looking for direct comparison of thrive vs sky high. Aside from the formula, the brush is a unique material that has never been used yet. The softness/flexibility is actually a key reason why it performs the way it performs. Stiffer bristles actually break the film at tip of lashes during application so this specific soft material minimizes the breakage at the tip and hence we were able to achieve this extreme length!! Hope this info makes you enjoy this mascara even more!
Hi! I love the sky high mascara. Why is it that it curls my lashes? It’s one of the only mascaras that does (I used to have to use waterproof to hold a curl). I don’t love the flexibility of the brush but your explanation does make sense!
@@carrieforrester7023 Hey Carrie! Mascara works slightly different for everyone - everyone has different lash typologies(how dense/sparse/long/short/naturally curled/flat/etc) and different gestures in how they apply(how quick the strokes are, how close they get to roots, using zigzag motion, etc). Thats why even for sky high, we tried to design the product so majority of people see length and impact but of course there are people that wont see it. Vice versa, some people will not see some effect but there will be others that will :) Seems you happen to be the lucky one where curl seems to be a pronounced attribute :D BTW Maybelline's new mascara just came out - its called "curl bounce" ;) Give that a try as well!!
I’m actually so obsessed with your mascara reviews! I used to be a mascara junkie and now I just live through you haha. Thanks for making my post surgery recovery fun!
I love your review. I like thrive simply because of the ingredients. It has ingredients that claim to be beneficial for the lashes and it is so easy to remove. Im tempted to buy Sky High and use the wand with the Thrive and see if it makes a difference lol.
Thank you for the review! My Thrive mascara got much better after 1 wk of use. I never thought I would like a tubing mascara, but I've used it for several months now and it truly is an impressive mascara. With one coat it never smudges or clumps, but like all tubing mascaras it's a bit gummy, so with a second coat, it definitely clumps the lashes as in your demo. I was a diehard Clinique Naturally Glossy Mascara for over 10 years and nearly had a heart attack when it was discontinued :-) I switched to the Bobbi Brown "No Smudge Mascara" which is good, but nowhere near as good as the Naturally Glossy from Clinique.
You have beautiful lashes. As a more mature woman (almost 53) ease of removal (less rubbing and tugging) is important to me. Also, the blinking technique isn’t the best way to apply it. Tubing mascaras are perfect for my needs, and I’m a fan of Thrive.
So pretty!!! You look like you have eyelash extensions on, after the mascara! I just ordered some off of Amazon. Thank you so much for this great video; its very useful.
Omg you are the queen of the mascara showdown! Thank you so much for this! I was really so into thrive cosmetics mascara but i could never have a chance to try it. Now i made up my mind. Thank you gorgeous ❤️❤️🥰
awww ur awesome thank you!!! I’m so glad the video was helpful!! I’m going to try to use up the thrive mascara cause it was so much money hahahah if I end up changing my opinion on it I’ll leave an update in the description💗
I just came to your channel and I am so glad I did I was going to buy the Thrive mascara but for the shy high is what I’m going to buy You saved me some money!! To me the Thrive mascara and shy high looks about the same. Thanks so much for this review!!
I have NEVER loved a drugstore mascara more than I do the sky high! I just ordered the Thrive and eager to try it after this review. The reason I love sky high, is it’s ability to add substance to my lashes without clumping! They’re separated, while super full lengthened, without clumping! I do notice the fall out but I honestly am not bothered by it. At least from your review I’m not gonna be a fan of the clumping factor of the thrive.. great review!
While the thrive wasn’t too bad I actually like the sky high better too! They talk the thrive up like crazy and it did seem thick as you put it on it looked good but sky high looked way better! I’m glad you did this review cause I been debating on buying the thrive but nah! I will though buy the thrive highlighting pencil that’s the smoky one I keep seeing advertised. Unless I find something similar. Loved hearing your cat that was so cute!
Yeah I totally agree!! Especially since the thrive one is $24 I won’t really buy high end mascaras unless they’re incredible. But let me know how you like that pencil! I’ve heard about it too💗 also hahahaha ur the best my cat loves interupting my videos
I enjoyed this video. Everyone raves so much about the Thrive mascara so I had great hopes. I had the same experience as you, too clumpy and temperamental to apply. I have long lashes like you so maybe that's why it doesn't work as well. I was able to return it easily for credit and I enjoy other Thrive products. I'm currently using a different Maybelline mascara that I love. Might try the Sky High next!
Wow your eyelashes are short and that was like instant magic on both eyes. I actually already ordered the thrive but now I am can I get Sky high and compare both.
This is a great comparison I was wondering which one to buy and now I know I'll go for thrive cosmetics but I think sky high looks better on you Thank you Thank you!
Thank you for this tutorial. Im in my 50's and I have tried so many mascaras. I decided to try the Thrive recently. NOT a fan so far. Both times I have used it, it has flaked withing a few hours. I so wishing I had seen your video ahead of time. I would have tried the maybelline sky high. Beautiful lashes by the way. Im not sure why my RU-vid says David. Thats my husband..Weird because I am signed into my account.
The HUGE selling point for the thrive for me is that it is the best tubing mascara I've ever tried. It prevents smudging for people with oily eyelids, however if you have watery eyes it might still smudge because tubing mascaras remove with water not oil. Is the Maybelline definitely a tubing mascara? Washable and tubing are different.
You never even mentioned the lash benefits in Thrive to justify the price point. Isn't it worth paying more if it actually helps and conditions your lashes to keep them fuller and healthy?
Oh My, You have beautiful eyelashes, You could use a clear gel mascara and they would still look like your wearing mascara. IMO you don't need all those coats.
Hi Kate! I love the Thrive Mascara but will be sure to try the other. I have a make-up remover balm that is amazing. It is anti-aging, vegan, gluten free, leaping bunny certified, and hands down the best make-up remover I've ever tried. My grown skeptical girls won't use anything else. DM me so you can try it out!
I am going to get the sky high but easy removal is important. They are only selling it in black too unfortunately. What mascara removal pads would you recommend for the Sky high?
I bought the maybelline after this video and trying the thrive already. I don’t know how you get your lashes to look like this. Mine fall down instantly and clump up like little spider legs. They look so sad
For me, the Thrive mascara feels like rubber. Literally. But my eyelids are so hooded I have to wear tubing mascara and Thrive is the only one that lasts.
I love comparing mascara as well. The difficult thing about this video is, you talk WAY to fast and you trail off in a sentence. I think in your effort to sound like a Kardashian it's hard to understand and listen to you. I hope you actually watch your videos to self improve how you deliver your videos to the public. I've never heard someone speak so fast in a makeup video. Diction and clarity is everything. I also love the Maybeline Sky High Mascaras. I wear them all of the time.
I am not sure what the fuss is about, they look exactly the same. Ofcourse I do not know the price difference, would have been nice if the price was mentioned. 🤔
I did mention the price during the overview💗 although they truly look different in person and feel much different on the eyes. The thrive one is much heavier and doesn’t provide as much curl.
I bought thrive it is heavy, ugly , who is seriously wearing this everyday. I have a lot !! Of lashes, but very light long and stick straight, this made them look so horrible !! Waste my money . I'm 52, I'm really trying to get away from the eye lash curler. It did not separate AT ALL , IT LOOKS AWFUL. And your lashes are already curled, naturally, very beautiful. So jealous
