Fancy coming across this by chance after searching for something else and the day after Lyn Seymour has passed away. I read it would have been her birthday today 9/3. M ay she rest in peace. Thank you for uploading.
Dance Gold, thank you. So wonderful to see David Wall in particular.... Technique may have moved on but there is an emotional truth to these dancers in created roles that is truly remarkable.
Thank you so much for uploading this ballet with the original brilliant cast of 1978. It is one of Kenneth MacMillan's superlative masterpieces and one which I had longed to see again.
A gem not to be missed by anyone who loves the ballet. Truly one of the greatest ballets of all time and its amazing how this production has passed the test of time. Powerful and emotionally gutting. You end up having to forgive Prince Rudolph.
I just spent half an hour uploading part 1 of this from my Mom's tapes. Oh well. It was unnecessary, but I know how to do this now. I have other rare films, such as one on Frederick Ashton I will try to upload soon.
I know the roles were created on Wall and Seymour, but they didn’t have quite enough technique. They look like they are straining at times. Not their fault, they were great dancers, but Macmillan was asking for a lot.
