Juan Diego Martinez And Death done the same to Judas Priest by covering "Painkiller". But Chuck had all the respect to the vocals part and tried to sing Higher like Halford and not ruined singing it growling. Well, but a cover is a cover and could never be as good as the original, but it depends on the will of the bands that play the covers to pay tribute. Another very good cover but played live is Nargaroth paying tribute to Motorhead and playing "Orgasmatron" live for almost 15 minutes, even better than the cover by Sepultura.
I got Scream Bloody Gore in 1987, when it was fresh. I was 14 years old, and it blew me away! The next year I got Deathcrush on copy cassette, and I could not believe it was a Norwegian band ( I Am Norwegian) No other Norwegian band played extreme metal at that time. I loved it. Now the circle is complete.
then u missed Seven Churches from Possessed in 85 I think, same as ALL from Celtic frost, as well as Death Angel or Dark Angel that, same as Reign in blood from slayer in 86... and some others...
wow, mayhem covering death? now we are fully convinced even them were influenced by a mastermind, we miss you so fucking much chuck, every goddamn day R.I.P.
@D. Hebert Also Jørn wore a Death shirt in many classic photos. Never saw it on Øystein though. I guess they started revolting against Death Metal, when it became a trend, in 1990 ish In 1987 it was still cool.
Pølcifer Pøffer Death didn’t even hit their mainstream (if ever really) until Human. Spiritual Healing was still very underground, even with political and social content lyrics.
@@PolkCountyWIProgressive very undrerground? Are you serious? Underground for non-metal people maybe. I can assure you, they was not underground by Spiritual Healing. Not even with Leprosy. Having whole page ads in all big magazines and stuff. Do we even live on the same planet?
@@plciferpffer3048 Jørn has stated many times that he's a big fan of Death so my guess is that it was mostly Øystein shitting on US death metal. Check out the "What's in my bag?" episode which features Jørn, he talks about Death.
@@megajaredx9679 Dead wasn't a piece of shit as much as Euronymous. He did do some questionable stuff, but he was mentally ill and he most likely did it because of trauma, PTSD and the anxiety of not being accepted by the likes of Euronymous, Hellhammer, Necrobutcher etc. If hell is real I don't believe he's in there. Euronymous, however, could be very likely...
Regardless they are undoubtfully an unique by its own and crucial chapter, to the whole history and development of black metal, i always didn't like Mayhem. But in this tribute song, without the slightest hint or irony, they really nailed it, especially the vocals are freaking awesome & perfect match. 💪🏻🤘🏻
Trapped inside a life Which is not yours Spirits within causing terror Fear and darkness Evil dead Evil dead Voice speaks out All will die tonight Insanity fills your mind You hear them calling Evil dead Evil dead Covered in blood All hope is lost Forever to rot Controlled by the powers of the Evil dead Evil dead
I love this! But didn’t Mayhem kinda hate on the death metal of this era originally? Like the whole point of Black Metal was to create something more raw than what was happening in North America and other parts of Europe. Either way I think this is fantastic! Chuck is a god and Death is forever! But Hail to Mayhem as well!🤘
I’m all for it, I love the cover and I love classic and new Mayhem! I’ll be going to see Mayhem and Abbath the end of March so I’d love to see them perform this cover in their set!
They didnt hated all of them. They hated mainly melodic and overly technical death metal bands. Old school death metal is a big influence for black metal bands.
Nope. Only after "Leprosy". He only liked the demos and first two. Most death metal (except for Merciless and Rotting Christ) from 1989 to 1993 he shat on. Some other exceptions being Immolation "Dawn of Possession". He said he liked it cause "not for wimps and like Sepultura's true "Morbid Visions" days".
