Gone now, for over 17 years. For a demographic of HS band geeks in the mid 70's, he was a God. His energy and "athletic" presence as soloist/band leader was an inspiration for Ferguson Fanaddicts. He was the trumpet hero we needed, and raised our stock a bit amongst non-musians, especially after "Rocky." My son and I got to see him once, back in '05. On my Mt. Rushmore, of times spent with my boy💎
Maynard is so gracious, positive and generous with this energy - dedicating a song to a native American is fantastic (and ahead of his time in many respsects). RIP Mr Ferguson
I've had Maynard Ferguson live in San Francisco for over 30 years and it never gets old. Gregg Bissonette is just so awesome. Huge inspiration for me personally.
W O W ! Cannot believe this video exists. My father took me to this concert. Thank you so much for sharing this amazing video of one of my childhood jazz heros. +1 Dennis Diblasio.
This is going to end up as one of the most viewed MF vidoes of all time. Great capture of a great MF era. You can tell The Boss really enjoyed Greg Bissonette's drumming....as well as Matt's bass.
