Maynard Ferguson - Brazil 

In 1993 and 1994, Roger Ingram was living down in Miami and I remember calling him and RAVING about his lead playing on this and the Live from London album(s) and Roger being upset this was recorded and released b/c he though Maynard and the band were really "off " this evening...well, after 30+ years it doesn't sound THAT bad...this arrangement by Chip McNeil is sublime and Doug's piano work is fantastic on this

Cuz this is state of the art JAZZ and the MF’n roof is coming off! Never another. He left the half note for a feast at the Footpath Cafe in Belgium. Thanks for the techs that captured it. And Doug, Jesus H Christ, tearing my brain in half with that Mr Rogers on LSD piano solo. Sax, forget about it I’m a pimp for sax with fx. Somewhere along the way it’s as if I’ve found my way into some kind of slow motion fantasy land. These guys are not from this planet. Bass, saintly. And the drummer ridin’ the bus takin’ notes, “I been waitin’ bitches, ready to punctuate lemme know.” Drummer was 6 months ahead of them. “This melody is a waste of time. No it isn’t. Yes it is. No it isn’t. Yes it is. Well how about this. Maybe. Yes. No. Maybe. Yes. No. Yes. Yes. No. Okay. Whatever. Well there you go you son of a bitch the world will never be the same again lol.” Go find the most expensive system possible crank it and thank me later it’s all on there.

Great Band and fine arrangement...as is to be expected of Maynard....enjoyed all the soloists....cookin' rhythm section!.....two thumbs way up:^)

I play in a marching band in norway, and we played a version of this song on our national day, may the 17th. :)

This arrangement by Chip McNeil and Tom Garling is the best I've ever heard. Maynard's band always had the greatest musicians.
