Floyd is one of the few boxers that only other boxers can fully appreciate. It's easy for people who've never stepped in the ring to criticize how someone else fights. It takes way more skill to fight while avoiding being hit than it takes to brawl and trade shots.
even fans of SRL & Ali, who would literally pretend to run around the ring moving their arms in the fashion of running, never get any complaints. Hell even Pernell Whitaker, BHopkins and Willie Pep all utilized the entire ring to employ their strategy and no one every complains. The ring is that size for a reason, most casuals want brawls not boxing matches.

@AJweathersby, It's a lot easier when most of your career has been "about finding a particular opponent" and "not about fighting the best" Floyd's direct quotes. Also anyone that thinks there is not an art to "brawl" and whoever uses that term shows their lack of knowledge. Effective pressure fighting and in fighting are also fine arts to this combat sport. and they are skills that Floyd is not overly accomplished in. I give him credit that he has a style that off sets those skills, but calling it brawling and not appreciating the skill it takes to stand in close and dish out punishment is just as close minded as one that does not appreciate what you are saying. Instead what fighters like Mayweather do is grab, clinch and hold to avoid close combat. There is no real skill involved in that either. So there are many sides to the sport and all should be appreciated.

No it wasn’t. De La Hoya, Mosley, Corrales and Canelo were all bigger fights for Floyd prior to Pac. Cotto was looking washed after the Pacquiao fight. It was this fight and what he done after that showed he still had it.

I also get tired of people saying how Mayweather waited until Pacquiao was too old because the last time I checked, Manny Pacquiao is still two or three years younger than Mayweather. Both are great fighters. Mayweather is just better defensively and that matters sometimes. Cotto is without a doubt one of my favorite fighters as well as Oscar De la Hoya because those two guys really did do their best to fight the best of the best with no excuses.

Cotto did well because he didnt smother his punches and was in the perfect distance to land his shots, and every time Cotto pivotted to be in Floyd chest and not in front of Floyds shoulder if you can understand what I mean he had success.

Floyd refused to be tested by VADA because they have far more sophisticated testing and are not in any promotional companies pocket. Mayweathers testosterone to epitestosterone levels have been very very low, another red flag that requires more testing and guess what USADA never followed it up 7 times !!! there are no records that USADA ever tested Floyd again understanding that his TE ratio was highly irregular seven times suggesting that he was using masking agents !!! I'm convinced that Floyd along with other top fighters are using PEDS but the evidence that exists suggests in black and white that Floyd is a cheat. please don't suggest that I'm an idiot I've been boxing for twenty years ! Counter punching is defense. He doesn't have offense. It doesn't matter. Boxing and even muay thai are 75% defence. Blocks and counters. You open up your guard and you're vulnerable to a counter. Mayweather knows his shit. That's for sure.

This was a throwback fight from the 80 's like Duran, Leonard, Hearns and Hagler. This was a brutal fight. Floyd didnt run at all, he fought on the inside a night long. Great fight from Cotto as well. Black & Brown gettin it on, great fight !!!

This was a brawl. Holy shit. Both were just swinging and landing. You can hear the sound of the power shots. I got a feeling they both thought "This guy is good. So I'm not going to hold back." Fantastic fight. Definitely one of the best of all time.
Cotto could’ve been one of the greatest if it wasn’t for that margarito fight smh. This to me is Floyd best fight. Floyd showed toughness and kept punching back. By the 12 fight he had already won but he came out swinging and almost dropped cotto. Great fight.

one of my favourite Floyd fights. Adapted his right hand to make it a sweeping hook as his straight right wasn't working that is what the best can do, they adapt and then the left uppercut. Both landed every time, the guy is incredible. Not sure why some people think he lost this fight, at times this was an absolute schooling but credit to Cotto he's always been a fighter I've liked and brought it to Mayweather
The way Floyd leans back, angling his shoulder and head, makes him extremely hard to hit in the face. They say it's a game of inches. Pretty sweet technique.
Mayweather is so good in utilizing Shoulder Roll defense and creating a distance to an offensive move. The Best Defensive Boxer of All TIME. The only way to beat that kind of defense is by punching so strong that could hurt even his shoulder when he does that. it woukd take a Super Heavyweights to destroy that kind of defense. Manny Pacquiao will surely loose to this kind of Boxing of Floyd.

Mayweather wants to fight on the rope. he easily targeted the slow opponent everytime he was there. Very fashionate fighter. A hiphop boxer. Modern fighter. That is why it was his favorite. But not all boxers he fought can't Mayweather dominate on the rope. Mayweather had to avoid Pacquiao combination because is too fast. He had even to clinch and run. That's the key to beat Pacquiao but all of a sudden, he was not clearly won that fight. Mayweather gave Cotto a many punch as not as many as a Pacquiao fight. But he never become so weak and technically didn't touch the canvas ever since in his entire career.
