Not long after buying Bertie our Campervan we encountered a few problems. Front and rear heater not working. No water in header tank and Bertie peeing on the floor. T rubber hose has been added but a non standard Mazda part. Engine oil low on dipstick. A bit concerned now.

Thanks for uploading the video! I have a similar problem where that particular long n/s heater pipe sprung a leak at the front - the pipe is about 4 ft long. I decided to remove the pipe as it was rusty. Nightmare! I cannot remove the pipe even after removing the radiator, the condensor etc. I'm starting to think that this pipe was never meant to be removed. I've called a few Bongo repair centres and they assure me it can. If you know of anyone who has successfully removed the pipe in one piece please let me know how. If I'm successful, I'll let you know how I did it. Once again, thanks for sharing your video! 🚙😀

I work repairing these, yet to see a sane "bleed the cooling system" video - it's all people mucking about with funnels. When I rebuild the fronts of Bongos, I have to pull the cooling system - rad out, ac out, header tank out, pipework mostly off. Never go anywhere near the "bleed pipe" tbh, when it comes to refilling, beyond opening the bung once for about 1 second, lol. Then I jam it right back in again. Fast Method is jack the front of the van right up nice & high - higher the better. Fill the rad till full, bang on the cap. Fill the header tank full. BRIEFLY open the radiator cap - fluid will spill out, ensuring the header tank pipes are full/free of air. Close the rad cap. Keep the header tank topped up/cap off. Wander over to the bleed bung under the seat - it might help to unclip the pipe, but I seldom bother. Take out the bung - for only a split second, lol, as coolant will flow/spray out rapidly. Bung back in, Bang - you have bled the system as much as you need to. Top up the header tank. With the vehicle still jacked up, run the engine until you feel the bottom radiator hose go hot - this can take ages unless you rev the engine to 3k revs & hold it there for a fair bit with the header tank cap firmly back on.. I do that.. Once you feel the lower hose go hot, the thermostat has opened & the system is good - top up the header tank again(wait till its cooled if you're unsure how to open it safely when hot) & the jobs done. Takes 20 minutes with the "get it hot" bit included. Just my 2c.

the manufactures guide to bleeding the system is to hold the bleed pipe higher than the coolant tank with a container for the coolant to flow into and the air will spit out leave the engine running for five minutes until and steady flow of coolant . Then cap off the bleed pipe and top accordingly. Now way in Japan would Mazda have their Technicians doing this method . And wear heat resistant gloves as you coolant gets warm.

The main dealers just jack up the front of the van to do it. There is also a auto bleed kit you can permanently bolt on kit. Just not got around to buying and fitting one. George

yeah I'm a little strap for cash after the themostat housing pipe end eroded completely draining all my coolant and overheating, luckly i was only a few miles from a petrol station only done about 6 miles 40mph . temp was not high for long so was lucky the head did'nt crack. Already have coolant alarm and temp sensor fitted . The AA guy did a temp repair to get home safely now in process of fiting new housing and themostat . I'll repair the old one by drilling and boreing the old housing to shrink size find a t-piece pipe fitting or i'll turn one up using a 4 jaw chuck on a lathe then shrink fit with liquid nitrogen at work. These housing are £140 new and bongospares £38.50 used so to right im gonna repair this one at thoses prices just in case.@@MakeDoAndMend1
