I own a 2021 cx30 and it's not bad at all. I've put 40k miles in two year without any issues. My only gripe is that the gas tank it's way too small at 12 gallons you end up at the gas station often

I absolutely love my new 2023 Mazda CX-30. It's weird to say this because I haven't "loved" many vehicles in my life. This vehicle is a breath of fresh air. Each time that I get in it, I feel that I got an amazing value.

BTW, this was a great video. I've taken my CX-30 off-road twice. Most recently, my wife and I returned from a camping trip near Mt. Shasta. The CX-30's AWD was great for driving on grass, dirt, mud and snow. It was also great over some uneven dirt too. I think that this was indicative of the extent that most people would drive on. Yet, it's on the road where the CX-30 shines over its competitors. The CX-30 might be one of the quietest non-luxury vehicles that I've ever driven -- and it seems to be quieter than some luxury vehicles too. It just feels so much more premium than a Toyota, Honda, Subaru or Ford. Plus, I like all of the Mazda standard safety features and easy-to-use infotainment system more than the others too (I hate the clunky systems in Toyota and Ford). All-in-all, I am very happy with my purchase. I bought the Platinum Quartz Metallic color too -- and it is an amazing color that hides the dirt well. I still like that Soul Red Crystal color too though.

My 2015 Mazda 3 hatch just got totaled (sob). CX-30 is an obvious replacement. Did you get the CX-30 as a turbo? If so, how do you feel about its true gas mileage? The idea of having to hit the gas station more than once per week turns me off a bit.

@@mvillar24 - No, I didn't get a turbo. I thought about it. However, I just feel that the non-turbo has more than enough torque and HP -- and the gas mileage is better too. The non-turbo "only" has 191hp. However, it feels so much zippier than both of my other vehicles that (on paper) have more horsepower.

@@ccchhhrrriiisss100 I loved my non-turbo 2L Mazda 3 and found I can live with its acceleration. When I recovered enough from the accident, I'm looking forward to test-driving the non-turbo CX-30 and confirming it's good enough. Will probably have to test drive the turbo version to see if it is so much fun, I could live with gas mileage that would remind me of my 2003 Protege 5 hatch...

@@mvillar24 - Nice. I am averaging 34 mpg on my 2023 CX-30 non-turbo. It's a pleasant surprise given that I live in the Silicon Valley and even highway traffic is fairly congested.

I test drove these exact two cars today-great review. If you prefer a sportier drive and don't need the extra space or off-road capabilities/towing then get the 30 as it's more fun to drive. It's zippier, handles better, and doesn't have that weird stitching.

I’m struggling to understand how the CX-50 is better suited for off-roading? It only has .5” more of ground clearance. The 50 comes stock with AT tires but can buy AT tires for the 30 and still be less than the 50. The carbon turbo 30 comes with the zircon sand paint and terracotta interior. They both have a 2.5 turbo and the same awd driveline. I love my 30 and glad I saved the 10k going with that.

A fantastic comparison video. Would love to see more of these. Personally, I know I'm never going off road and never going to tow anything behind me. The top spec. 2023 Mazda 3 might be a bit cramped for me. My 2nd choice would be the CX-30. (Though not going to lie, I do prefer the security of a locking trunk over an SUV's hatch.)

I had and have both. I had a 2021 CX30 TPP with 48K that I traded in three weeks ago for a 2024 CX50 TPP. I agree with your review on both. There are a few things I actually like better interior wise in the 30 but then the 50 makes up for it in other areas. My 30 had a magnaflow axleback and many appearance mods including summer 19” wheels/tires. I plan to do similar mods with the 50 and am almost complete minus the exhaust.

hey guys I like this review style a lot !! It is informative but with joy to watch at the same time... the man behind these Cameras filming .. you are awesome. man /woman... .. and these Tow Mazda are the first on my list to buy. used though. As of now, I'm the owner of a 2012 Toyota Venza AWD v6. awesome Vehicle smooth powertrain. but the quality interior and exterior design of the Mazda looks really cool and I heard this brand had a good reliability record. So far I didn't hear anything bad about the Mazda regarding built-quality vehicles that last well. my favorite is the CX 50 and Mazda 3 AWD sedan. that is a super awesome choice as well.

Yes, as long as you don't buy the very top model. I did a build on the next model down and didn't choose the sunroof.

Not enough emphasis on performance in your review. I bought a CX-30 over a CX-50 because my other car is a Subaru Outback. Having driven both models, I found the "fun to drive" factor superior in the CX-30 Turbo. Faster by a bit, and you can point it like a dart.

I would have driven to Kirkland, WA to buy a CX50, but it didn’t have tan or brown interior unless it was a turbo. Sorry Mazda, the 2 hour drive from our house would have been worth it if I could get a CX50 without having to buy the turbo
@TheDiameter
@TheDiameter Год назад
Why on earth would you not want the turbo, it’s better in every measurable way. Asian made Turbo engines haven’t been unreliable in over a decade as long as you maintain them and treat them right. Let them warm gently by driving easy, and let them spoil down before you turn them off. The only reason to by the N/A car is if you can’t afford the turbo.

I've been driving since the early 70s-- in everything from cars to 18 wheelers.. and I think people are becoming FAR too dependend on the CAR to drive FOR them.. all that safety and tech BS needs to GO-- we did many years just fine WITHOUT all that crap... and I hope there is some way to TURN THAT JUNK OFF... I also HATE sunroofs.. they're just LEAKS waiting to happen... more potential trouble in other words.. AT LEAST in these the "info CRAP' is small and NOT stuck up in your face and cluttering up the front of the car. GRuMPY OLD MAn? YES- I am- and I hate that every company is RUINING their cars with FAR too much BS....that is NOT needed.

This is the strangest take. You’re more than welcome to drive without a seatbelt and pull the SRS fuse if safety isn’t your concern.

In the interest of boasting about (marginally) improved fuel economy numbers, Mazda have made cylinder activation standard on the naturally aspirated 2.5L engine across all the models that use it for 2023, which is a mistake imo. I would rather not buy a car with that feature, so my only options for a CX-30 (in Canada) are the standard 2.0L and the Turbo, neither of which has cylinder activation. Since neither is ideal for me (one is too slow and the other is unnecessarily fast for what would be my commuter car, and you pay for that superfluous performance at the pump), I'll probably skip Mazda altogether and look at the competition when it comes time to buy a new car. Too bad since a CX-30 with the 2.5L engine sans cylinder activation would've been my first choice.
@kin357
@kin357 Год назад
you can use 87 octane in the turbo and lose a few HP if you want to save money. It would be a tad slower than 91 0r 93 and still faster than the N/A which I have (which I don't find slow at all). If I could have afforded it at the time (2020) I would've grabbed a Turbo.

HA HA HA MORE POWER-- (as TIM ALLEN use to say on Home Improvement..)... I'm LIKING this.... I"M LOVING the CX-50 SELECT or TURBO-- I WANT ths one he's driving-- NO DAMN MOON ROOF to leak- and NOT those ugly 20"wheels with the stupid flat looking tires-- looks like either 17 or maybe 18" wheels with DECENT normal tires-- not the flat looking POS!!! YES_ I need that "adventure" of the CX-50. I'm not concerned with space in back for longer legs- cause I 99.9% of the time will be driving ALONE- or maybe ONE passenger NEXT to me - no one in back- etc.. and the space in the back can handle my groceries and that is all that concerns me.... I LIKE THE PEP.. THAT one he's driving looks like what I'd WANT.. NOW- isthis called simply the CX-50 TURBO-- or is it "select" or soemthing like that?? I LIKE THe RED one.. whatever it is.

2 Things I DO NOT WANT--- 1, I DO NOT want a damn MOON ROOF- that's just a stupid LEAK waiting to happen... 2- I do NOT want those BIG assed wheels with skinny flat looking tires--- nothing bigger than 17: with regular tires-- but NOT silver wheels- want black.. I PREFER the CX-50 if I can get it with THESE two things MISSING!!!!
