Glad I saw this video earlier. I was trying to put down the windows via the key fob and instead of pressing the unlock button four times, I pressed the lock button instead.🤦🏾♂️ Thank goodness I knew exactly what to do! Thx for the tip!👍🏾
Thanks for posting this. I just had to replace my battery yesterday. For those that don't know how to replace the battery you need to take both sides off & it's takes a CR2032.
Thanks so much for this information I accidentally put my key fob in this mode. I was having to go to the dealership tomorrow to see about the problem. I’ve only had the car for 5 days. The salesman didn’t have a clue on what could be wrong with it. lol I’m texting him to let him know that with your video the problem is now fixed. Thanks again
I have a 2021 CX30. (First model year) I think they’ve worked out all the bugs. None of them show stopping. Just irritating things like false error messages. It’s a really fun car to drive. Quick. Decent mpg. Enjoy
Going from a 2016 Mazda CX-5 to a 2024. The battery save mode so you can’t open the door from the car door handle is sooo nice! I go on long road trips so I tend to sleep in my car so I had to take the battery out of the remote so no one could open the car while I was sleeping.
Just a little detail. The touch sensitive button on the outside of a door handle is only for locking a car, not unlocking it like You said. To unlock it you just need to put your hand between a door handle and door, basically just opening the door normally with no need to touch that button on the outside of the handle. It has sensors on the inside part of the handle... Sorry for my OCD :D
@@lonniestarks-house2914 But in the settings, you can make the one-touch open all of the doors! That is how I now have my 2023 H/B. I discovered it when I was trying to figure out all of the features this car has. I am still trying to figure out other things. I think Mazda should put all of these in the index, so you can find out things more easily without having to read through everything in the owners manual.
When you get another cx5 2021 or newer in can you review the recommended fluid change intervals. And also show us the locations. For example differential change intervals and where the drain and fill plugs are! Thank you.
So I just went through all of this, I have a 2021 3 Turbo with 50k, and wife has an NA CX30 with 60k, Mazda uses the same 2.5 SAG and SAG Turbo engines and mostly the same 6speed transmissions for all their models at the moment so the information that I am covering below applies to CX5 and CX50 too. I'm a reliability engineer, so I am anal about my maintenance routines and analysis. 1st. this is very very important!, you need to be running a high Moly Oil. Ideamistu (Mazda oil OEM suplier) makes one, but its hard to find. TRIAX Lubricants has a really great Euro oil line available in our weights and is a high Moly oil. It has also has been getting great UOAs (used oil analysis) for me. The moly is also needed for the Sky Active G engines to get their rated fuel economy; people and dealers not putting the proper Mazda high moly or equivalent oil in is most likely the cause for fuel economy complaints in my opinion. For the models with the turbo SAG, 5-6K on oil depending on your driving. Mazda spec is 5K, I tried to push past 6K but I didn't like the amount of silica I was seeing on the UOA. The oil was in good condition otherwise. My thoughts are, oil is cheap engines aren't, so 5k is my personnel interval. I drive in very dusty environments which most likely accounts for the higher silica. NA models can go out to 7k no problem with a high end Euro spec oil like I recommended. If standard Syn like Mobile 1 is all that's available, back off to 5K like Mazda says. Wife's CX30 gets great UOAs with the TRIAX Euro 0w20 with 7K intervals, it toasted Mobile 1 by 6K and Pennzoil Ultra didn't fair much better, by toasted I mean oil was shot I was really surprised, I suspect this is because they have limited Moly in their additive packages. 2nd. The the 6 speed transmissions on these cars are actually really hard on their fluid. I did the pan drain and re-fill at 45k, I believe this is really close to Mazda's recommended interval but im not sure. In hind site, I would have done this at 30K. Its 3.5quarts just fyi, this drain and fill swaps out about 30% of the total fluid, do this drain and fill procedure when you change the engine oil 3 times to swap out about 90% of the fluid and your good for another 30-40K. After that I recommend doing a pan drop and changing the filter too. BIG ATTENTION!!!! Please Be carful!!! with the fluid choice, DON'T buy multi vehicle ATF like the auto parts store guy will most likely recommend, our 6 speeds are actually rather picky, Mazda FZ fluid is always a safe choice, its OE, but expensive. Ravenol, and Triax both make alternates. I went with The Triax Euro ATF, it was recommended by their tech support and meets all Mazda specs, Wife immediately reported better shifts and a slight bump in MPG. She regularly sees 31mpg up from 30 now.. 3rd. As for the Diff and transfer case, I actually believe Mazda's rating of "lifetime unless the diff was submerged". I changed both the diff and transfer case in my Turbo 3 at 40K just for warm and fuzzies, the used fluid was golden clear and the UOA on it showed it was completely fine with limited metal contamination. The Mazda SG1 Hypoid gear oil or equivalent MUST be used. Its a full syn 75W80 which is a bit odd weight and you'll find this out when searching for it. Again Ravenol and Triax to the rescue, they both make alternatives that are a little cheaper and are as good or better. Again I went with the Triax just because I have had great luck with their stuff thus far. Their Euro Transfer case oil is what was recommended. From my testing, the Mazda SG1 hypoid oil is very stout gear oil and only thing bad about it is the price. Obviously Mazda felt the need to run such a high end gear oil for a reason, don't skimp out. FYI you'll only need 1 quart to do both the transfer case and rear diff, about a half quart in each. This might have something to do with why Mazda SG1 is so good, they use a very small volume, that's my guess. drain and fill port locations would be better suited for the OP of this video :) but I did a lot of testing and cant help but share the results with other Mazda owners if they want to listen.
Your recommendations are very helpful, thank you. The question is, do you know how you can disable the automatic parking brake on a Mazda CX-30? I was also very surprised that the car does not have an option to display average speed.
Great antitheft mode. Saw another video for Toyota where it disables the the fob completely and pressing any button will disable the battery save mode.
In 2021, when the CX30 was new, we were getting a false “low battery warning “. We were advised to deactivate the spare key fob and store it at least 20’ away from the car. Didn’t help, but it’s good to know how to reactivate it. They’ve finally resolved the error with a software update. Maybe. Hopefully. They did mine last week. We’ll see
2:04 You don't need to press the button on the handle to unlock. If you put your hand inside the door handle (in the natural way when you open the door), it will unlock. That visible "button" is for locking the door. At least it is like that on the Europe versions. But it looks like is the same on this version, too
@@OxySynth I do agree, but several things are hard to find quickly. Sometimes I need to know something now, but the place to find it in my manual is not clearly defined. The index section does not have everything listed that I need to know, so I have to search thru sections to find it.
actualy i had this issue went to dealer mazda they say u need hard reset guy did it did not work so said they need car for a day , well i fixed at home watching youtube same fob was on save mode what a Moran in service works there
This is just to avoid the key cloning... Manufacturers already knows the remote keyless entry and proximity keyless entry can be easily copied and cars stolen.
Oh, it turns down the NFC radio responsiveness in the keyfob. This is a great safety feature, actually: defeats the "NFC relay attack" method of stealing a car.
May I ask - that CX-30 has the "advanced keyless entry"......what model year is that? I have a '21 CX-5, and there was no mention of that feature being an option on ANY model of the CX-5 (in '21).
@@CARDIAXPLAYS I had a 2007 Lexus ES 350. It came as standard equipment. And believe it or not it's the one thing that bothers me the most about my '21 CX-5, I mean that it doesn't have it. It's funny how you don't have to have these things, but when you have them and you get used to it - as I had that Lexus for 11 years - you really miss it when it goes away, as it did for me.
@@stephenbay9564 I agree! My WRX has this feature and it took me a while to get use to it but now I love the convenience of only needing the fob on me to unlock the door.
the cx-5 only has keyless entry depending on the trim level you have, it’s a black button on the side of your door handle. This advanced keyless entry is only available on the Mazda 3,30,50, and 90. (I’m a salesman)
@@kaeden2502as a Mazda salesman does the 2021 Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring have remote start? If you know the answer please tell me, I have not been able to figure that out.
This is probably a dumb question but Im gonna ask it anyway I just got myself a 2024 Mazda 3 Sedan literally yesterday and Im still working through all the features What is the spare key inside the fob used for exactly? Like where is the hole that it goes into located on the car?
Wish Mazda would focus more on things like how the car turns off every time you unlock it after remote starting it...this is one of the most annoying things about the car. Other manufactures also have remote start but the car doesn't turn off once you open the door, they have a smarter way of protecting car theft. The key fob going into battery saving mode is useless and also would cause customers to believe their key fob isn't working.
Battery save mode preserves the fob battery on the key you may not be using. Also, I like to hide this key attached to the car in case I ever lose the one I'm using. Battery save mode allows me to do this without removing the battery.
Thanks! So how about the seatbelt bonging sound that we hear in this video?! It causes us so many problems! Definitely not trying to get out of wearing seatbelts, but practical problems like when my kids get out of the car for school, I have to get out of carpool line, go park, and turn off the car and back on again in order to get it to stop the seatbelt alarm. Driving me crazy!
How do i reset my remote start app on my cx9 2021? The result is due to system error, can i disconnect the battery and connect it back again? Thanka in advance
I have the 2024 Mazda cx 30 with the red leather. It had the wireless charger but the CarPlay need a wire to connect. It there a way to make it wireless without buying anything aftermarket?
It amazes me with the car industry that the key fobs are so horribly designed, that the keys could be pressed while in your pocket. I used to hear my Mazda car unlock at times and also my Subaru, the tailgate opened up while the car was in the garage..... problem was the interior light flattened the battery on 2 occasions. Also amazes me why they can not design cars that are harder to steal
If you're only using one fob regularly you can extend the life of the battery in the fob you're not using. Then when you have to replace battery in your current fob, you can use the other fob which still has most of its battery life left in it.
So, on average, how long does the key fob battery last with daily use, a year, 18 months? That would be helpful to know when to look out for a balking fob.
I disabled keyless go cause I had so much problems with it. When it's wet outside sometimes the doors don't open. When I wash my car and my keys are in my pocket, the car just randomly unlocks and unlocks every 5 seconds. I don't want to deal with all this so I just simply unlock by key.
it's a design flaw and Mazda has released a technical document about it, meaning that you can go to your dealer and they must fix it under a warranty. I've been through it and they just put a new improved seal on a door handle and sensors. For me, it happened mostly while washing a car with pressure washer. After they done it, not a single time I had a problem. You should ask for repair, you paid for that feature. It can be useful and I personally like it, also I think it's a more secure way to unlock a car becausethe signal is very weak and no one can scan it as opposed to clicking the button which works even from around 50-100meters.
@@FreakyKiky This is a common misconception. Technical bulletins are simply repair procedures and not "warranty" unless the vehicle is already under factory or extended warranty.
@@amylovesmazda if a car is under a warranty, it should be repaired for free. I did not said that it should be repaired for free if warranty expired... And you would notice this in 3 or 5 years for sure. I noticed it after first car wash.
In most cases I would say yes. Take note, there are instances of hacking a device to make it transmit. (I can only assume this is rare). Think similar like 'disconnecting' a bluetooth device from your computer. However, bluetooth isn't completely safe unless power is completely removed or the bt trans/receive modem is removed or broken.
it sort of does. but there is a thing called "" which interferes with the signal and copies it. The user is puzzled why it didnt work the first time when they pressed it so they press it again. Now they have both signals and they release the first signal which would activate the car. But the problem is they also have the second signal and so they can access the car as well without your knowledge. best thing to do is get a good steering lock. and put your keys in a faraday box you can buy or make yourself. even then the culprits could still access the car through the OBD port. I think you can counter that with a ghost immobiliser? Dont quote me on that. My apologise if anything i have said is inaccurate to those who are more exact with this information.
thanks for the video. But I find this feature not useful at all, a battery is like 50 cents and it keeps you at least 1+ year so you don't save that much. A hidden feature where you could lower all windows from the key fob would be indeed useful :)))
The amazing thing is you have to press the button four times and then hold it for the fifth time to make that happen.. And I have managed to do that twice with the Fob, in my back pocket. By itself.🤔🤦♂️
@@nj-1008It beeps on the first lock button press and honks if you hit it again (they’re assuming you didn’t hear the beep and are double checking it’s locked). Makes total sense.
This doesn't have nothing to do with battery saving mode. Exactly what you do with remote you can do it for setting menu in the car by deactivate proximity sensor.
It's not supposed to honk when the doors are locked by pressing the lock button on the key. The honk occurs if you press the lock button on the key when the doors are already locked.
If this car just had a regular key it would be awesome. Why do manufactures think these things are a plus? Im trying not to be old but this is ridiculous.
I have a 2022 Mazda3 and I absolutely HATE the key fob. The buttons are raised and so easily pushed so I've found that I've opened the trunk - inadvertently - three or four times. Same with locking or unlocking the doors. It's a terrible design.
I don’t think this is a good idea just to save a battery. How expensive can a battery be just to put it on save mode. What’s more interesting is that why Mazda key fob doesn’t respond within 10 feet. Mazda has a very poor electronics on their vehicles. My homelinks doesn’t open right away. I have to literally hold it. I don’t have to this problems with Subaru cars.
worst feature ive ever experienced. drives me nuts every single day. never thought to ask 'does the key fob work without making you want to kill yourself' before i bought the car
But you should rarely have to use it as the car features 'walk-away' automatic locking in addition to proximity opening. My fob never leaves my pocket.
