Mazda Miata RF: Fastback, Not Fast, But That’s Perfect [Ownership Intro] 

The world would be better with a bunch of miatas around the traffic. I believe I'm not just a few of the owners of miatas that just loves to watch miatas' videos to feel happier just watching another owners enjoying their own cars.

I am 68, live in Perth Australia and this car(right hand drive) is marketed and sold as a Mazda MX5 and has a strong following in my country. Today I signed the sale contract for a new manual 2.0L G20 RF GT. Had a choice between a Cherry Red or Deep Crystal Blue Mica from was was left in this particular dealer's current stock. Chose the latter, as I did not want the "look at me" approach, especially not at my age 🤭🤭. I bought it for the sheer driving pleasure of its road holding and handling and will be taking the Advanced Keyless Entry in 2 weeks. 🙂....can't wait!

100% agree. Just got the 2020 RF GT version manual same color as yours inside and out (except my leather stitching isn’t red). Sitting in it the first time and getting it around a few tight turns was a revelation. The most fun I’ve ever had on the road. I will now always have an MX-5 in my life, and when I’m not inventing reasons to drive, I’m racing my virtual MX-5 in iRacing in VR. My cockpit with DD wheel and pedals is a near match to the real thing.

Very fair commentary. It is probably the most fun car you can buy these days. Not fast? Well, I am not sure MX5 owners buy one for the acceleration, but because it really is a driver's car and handles with such poise you never feel unsafe. Here, in Germany, I see guys out in their Porsche or BMW or whatever and I always think they have no idea how much fun they are missing. The MX5 really is a sports car, not a box full of electronic gizmos with a big engine.

The newer ND2 is about half a second quicker to 60 mph, still not a rocket, but nowhere is considered a slow poke either. I've owned and driven different cars, brands, and types, there's something about the Miata that is hard to describe. The thing is, when you're driving it, it's like an extension of your body! 😊

Awaiting the arrival of the 2024’s. Really like the interactive cruise control on my Camry and would like the same on my new Miata. If it is not offered on the 24’s, then will look at a deal on a leftover 23. After 3 convertible Corvettes, I am ready for a new Mazda GT RF!

It irritates a little me when people say the Miata isn't fast. This car is plenty quick, perfectly exhilarating on public roads because you can actually use much of the car's capability without breaking the law, unlike the many overpowered sports cars out there that cost too much and, worst of all, often won't be challenged by those who buy them. The Miata always feels like it's moving faster than it is and that's a big part of its magic. I loved my 2019 and I still regret selling it. I plan to buy a ND3 RF GT in a year or two, for keeps.

why is the back window open? can you close it or is it always like that?

It isn't the best selling two-door sports car of all time. It is the best selling two-seat sport car of all time. The best selling two-door sports car of all time is the Mustang.

Nice review but everyone knows not to buy black or grey they are ugly.The red is the best red that anyone makes other than Ferrari.
