Should have started with this. I've looked at a lot of videos and yours are the best by far. I'm doing a complete rebuild after 247K!

And I do have a Speed6, 2 of them actually. I will be pulling the motor to rebuild soon. I recently got an engine stand and cherry picker.

Me and my friend had to take the cyl head off of his mazda 3 MPS and if it wasn't for your video, I would have bent that steel oil feed pipe that's bolted to the back of the head! Thanks for the upload!

Glad it helped! I was pulling up for awhile before realized that the oil feed line was connected there by a bracket haha.

just bought a speed6 and it has no compression in the first cylinder. I am about to pull the head because I thin its having some kind of valve issues. Thanks for the video, I'm not far behind you!

Hopefully its nothing to major! Keep going at it though, with a bit of research it's really not too hard tearing it down and putting back together. A bit of advice make sure your very organized, pull out a table to lay everything out makes it so much easier when re assembling! I should be getting my block back from the machine shop sometime next week and then Ill upload a reassembling video. Good luck!

@@spiiriteddaillys3231 I got the intake manifold off today, it wasn't terrible just takes a lot of patience! The intake valves were really gummed up, and there was a considerable amount of oil in the manifold, any idea what may cause this?

you said you had no compression in one of the cylinders. Most likely if your cylinder head is NOT the problem it is probably that one cylinder or cylinder's with low compression has cracked pistons or cracked ringlands something that is not allowing the rings to seat, causing blow by (Compression leaking past rings into crankcase). with too much pressure in crank case it will push your oil through your PCV (positive crank case vent) into your intake manifold. Thats just a possibility, could also be a leaky turbo blowing oil into you intercooler then to your intake manifold. P.S I had lots of oil in mine as well because of blow by.

Thanks for the motivation! Next video should be up soon of the actual build but the machine shop is backed u, but soon we will get this thing running strong! As of right now I don't have a separate insta page YET but once I start making more content it will be up!

What happened to that other engine you showed at 19:50? I'm trying to diagnose a possible 2-3 leak and I'm worried I may have the same HG failure

@@D.Ghost92 That’s correct the heat shield bolts are super rusted so I just cut it out.

Really man. Is it all that to pull the head off. That's mental. I've committed to taking mine off for refurbishment. She's burning alot off furl so I'm guessing is valve stem seals. I'm not looking forward to this

There are ways to replace the valves seals without removing the head. You remove spark plugs and bring the cylinder your working on to TDC and fill it with yarn so when you pull the valves spring off your valves don’t fall into the cylinder and then you can replace the seal.

How did you get the motor separated from the transaxle? There's a key 2 minutes here that is crucial. Please help! I have the engine about 2 inches out but need another 1/ inch to clear!

Removing it from the transmission? You have it wiggle it off and have the timing cover off along with the pulleys to have enough clearance to slide it out of the transmission

Why didn't you build the motor yourself in the first place? You definitely seem like you could if you wanted to.

I honestly wish I did do it my self, would have saved tons of cash in labor prices. Reason I didn't was I didn't fully believe I was capable but after watching the shop build it in person, all it really is Assembly and making sure everything it lubricated well and torqued properly. I was more concerned about measuring clearances and not having the proper tools to do it but the machine shop is where all the clearances are checked over and made sure it is all in spec. so if you have a good machine shop that you can trust that they are giving you the bang on clearance numbers then you should be okay to assemble you block by your self!
