I'm sure you'll miss him and I understand why. I'd say I'm sorry we took him from you but I'd be lying. He was my first pick to be coach. I followed him since he left UK during his pro career. And when he left medical school to become an assistant coach at Georgia I was fascinated. That was a guy who was driven to be a coach. If he was smart enough to be in medical school at Columbia he sure is smart enough to be a basketball coach. And talk about energy. Off the charts.
Coach Pope played for Kentucky for two years, and this year is the 30th Anniversary year of him joining the team. He transferred to Kentucky from The University Of Washington.
What an awesome interview! One of the best coaches in America! Articulate, sparkly, and enthusiastic! The awesomeness that is Mark Pope oozes with every fantastic word he speaks! If a coach's ability o talk gave his team points in a basketball game, Kentucky would score 200 or more points every game! Just fantastic! Are you kidding me? It's more than just fantastic! It's awesome!
