"Flow Like Poe" uses rap to explain the poetry of Edgar Allan Poe, featuring an interpolation of Pachelbel's Canon in D. Lars premiered this song and video at Carnegie Hall in May of 2012. The song is from the MC Lars EP "The Edgar Allan Poe EP".

The way I come back to this, years later, having graduated high school and college, and am somehow violently shoved back into my Language Arts class with every lyric still memorized, is genuinely an amazing feeling, well done sir. I will now proceed to have this stuck in my head for weeks

Actually Poe was locally famous among his community. After he published 'The Raven' kids would fallow him in the street and flap thier arms like wings. :)

Edgar, and his younger sister Rosalie both suffered from headaches. Their father David Poe - by some historical accounts - suffered from mental illness. Poe self-treated chronic and crushing headaches with laudnum and alcohol. He didn't die drunk, but scientists in the medical profession believe he suffered from encephalitis, or water on the brain. Rabies was mentioned, looks like encephalitis, but would not have caused him some of the symptoms that were documented. He was brilliant.

My friend loves Ska and introduced me to "This Gigantic Robot Kills" the song not the album but it was through that song I discovered one of the coolest albums I've ever heard and then one of the coolest artists I ever got the pleasure to hear. Thank you for the music "True Playah For Real"

But it goes back to fast to remember. To really learn it I'd need it in writing. Great stuff, though. Probably would be a boon to high school English teachers, though the skull kissing scene and some other stuff might get them in trouble. OK, college poetry class, then.

I have a shirt with a big rapping bird comic on it and MC LARS and on the back it says “Who’s That Rapping?” . I had no idea who it was and also could not find any other shirts with the same art on it online, which intrigued me. So I traced it down to this. Awesome!

if you really feel that way, send it to your former teacher so they can include it in the curriculum. i'm sure they'd at least consider it. my old english teacher also used a couple youtube vids to illustrate points back in the day.

Actually "The Raven" was so popular during his life time that he was often stopped in the streets and asked to recite the piece, also he was a rather well known literary critic. He may have been hypersensitive to alcohol but personal accounts from his life vary on that. As for his death the circumstances were a bit more mysterious, especially since he was found in a gutter wearing someone else's clothes.
