When I went to a sewing retreat, I used a dollar store bathmat beneath my smaller machine for traveling which helped reduce its vibration and noise because it was sitting on a foldable plastic table. Great fix on those shorts! Your jumpsuit looks great on you.
Thanks so much Norma for your comment and hint on the bathmat idea. That is something I will look into as my machines can get noisy at times and my husband is always on calls in the next room! Have a good week 😊🧵
Those shorts would have wound up in the donation pile or the "I'll deal with it later pile" if they were in my house - congratulations on making them work for you! The jumpsuit is so pretty, as is the new handbag - irresistible fabric, for sure. Loved the outdoor photos - just looks idyllic - and we can't tell how grungy you feel over the internet 😄! Whenever I do a litter cleanup with our Town Watch group, I just want to get in the shower and wash everything I'm wearing as soon as I get home, so I know the feeling!
I did feel so grubby when I recorded that video, having my legs in river water all day and hands and arms 🤣. Those shorts were just too annoying not to be dealt with as I really did want them for an upcoming trip and I won't let and Indie pattern beat me! Well done for participating in Litter Pickups, I keep the outside of our drive and pavements clear but you make me feel I should do more. Have a good week 😊🧵
I knew you wouldn’t give up on the shorts! “Let’s Do the Twist”! You look lovely in the jumpsuit! The bag is beautiful! I know your granddaughter will love the rag doll! Have a good weekend! 🥰
It was the twist wasn't it Nancy, why I broke out into that I will never know 🤣. The camera makes us do odd things! Thanks so much for watching and enjoy your weekend 🧵😊x
So glad you rescued those shorts!! And that jumpsuit with the tie front is really cool! Looks great on you! The bag came out beautifully!!!! Enjoy the theme park!!!! Have a great time! Thanks for a lovely Friday sews!
Thanks so much Rachael for all your comments. I do love a jumpsuit but only on holiday for some reason! That bag was such fun to make, very different in construction but made for a sturdy bag. Back from Chessington and I have to say, it is very quiet home alone after all the hustle and bustle of the day! Have a super week ahead 😊🧵
Summer! Yay for summer! OK I'm frustrated right now with sewing, so thanks for the reminder! Out comes 7640! You look adorable in your jumpsuit - now we know you can dance and you are so cute doing it! Such a cute bag, easy to see why everything else got put on hold. Totally worth it. Your trip looks like Ohio in summer- one of my favorite things from childhood. The best. xoxoxox
Summer has landed....at last!!! It must be time you made another 8640 you are right, every time I wear this dress I have such happy memories. Isn't that bag so pretty? Weird instructions though to sew each strip separately to the foam, I am sure that was harder work that it needed to be. Such fun times at the river but now I have to think of somewhere equally as fun for next Thursday 🤣. Charlie did say it was his "best day ever!", that is a lot of pressure for a Nanny 🤣. Thanks for watching and I hope you get your sewing buzz back again xx💗xx
I was so excited to learn your G'daughter loves her new friend.... Your jumpsuit is beautiful and happy too to hear that you got your shorts fixed to your liking.. win win
I know Cindy! The doll was a hit which I am so happy about and now I can make more clothes for her. Those shorts are so much better now aren't they, even the fabric doesn't look as bad. Thanks for watching 😊🧵
Super cute jumpsuit, I love the colors in the fabric. You fixed your shorts! Am I surprised? Nope. The fabrics for the bag are really pretty. And your bag came out so lovely. I was very happy, but not surprised, to hear your granddaughter loves her dolly. And thank you for the cute pictures at the end of the video. Have a great week.
Thanks so much Carol, there was much more success in my sewing this week than last weeks! I do hope the Dolly wants more clothes at some point. Glad you enjoy the photos and enjoy your week too 😊🧵
As you say, the simple things are definitely the best aren't they! That bag was such fun to make and what made it easy was the fabrics were already picked for me, I am useless at that 🤣, Thanks so much for watching Sandra and have a good week 🧵😊
Carole, GREAT save on the shorts! You are persistent! They look great. I'm in LOVE with your jumpsuit. That fabric is perfect. It fits you so well. The quilting on your bag lines up perfectly! Of course the inside zip and pockets are wonderful. Such lovely colors and designs. And finally, your granddaughter will absolutely treasure her doll! Now you will have fun making clothes for it! Great vlog today. Happy shopping and happy sewing! Have a great weekend. 💝💝
You are always so lovely in your comments on my makes! You are right, when that dolly needs more clothes I have lots of scraps and ideas waiting for her. Thanks so much for watching and stay safe in your tropical storm! 💗😘
@@socarole66 Yes, It's coming down hard right now. We are all stocked up with water and food. No worries. And of course as long as I have power, I'm still sewing!! 🥰😍🪡
Congratulations on the remake of the shorts the jumpsuit is gorgeous sounds like you have had a wonderful time with your grandchildren your granddaughter sounds she is in love with her new friend great video thank you 😊😊😊
Thanks Robyn, I am so glad that doll hasn't been just hidden away! She is a real feature in her life now so I can't wait to make more clothes. We had a great time today and now I am home in the quiet to recover 🤣 Have a good week 😊🧵
I love your jazzy jumpsuit, Carole, and, fab save on the shorts! Your bag is so pretty! Bag linings typically become a smidge larger than the outer, and, a good way to “remedy” that, is to use a slightly larger seam allowance on the lining. That will help it be a little more snug. I knew your sweet granddaughter would love her doll! What a precious keepsake! Happy birthday to her! The first birthday is so special! I’m so glad you’re having some summer over there! I know you love it! 😘💗
Thanks so much Andra. The problem with the bag lining was that it was way too short for the bag so I ended up making a larger seam allowance on the bag. I think perhaps the outer bag grew when I quilted it all. Next time I would do that first then cut the lining to match the outer I think. I can't believe Chloe is a year old and it is wonderful that the doll is a major feature in her play pen now! Summer has now gone, rain is back but never mind, only a couple of weeks to go before we head over the pond 🥰. xx💗
Great job on the shorts Carole and you must be so relieved that Dolly was a hit with your Grandaughter. How cute that she talks to her....bless. Love that jumpsuit and the bag is very sweet. Enjoy the good weather and your weekend at the theme park. Happy sewing 😊
Thanks Annette, I am so glad I saved the shorts as you can tell, I hate to be beaten! When I say my Granddaughter talks to the doll, it is more babbling at this age 🤣. Hope you have a good weekend too and thanks so much for your comments 🧵😊
Really liked your jumpsuit. Lovely colours on you and very flattering. Well done on resolving your Tinley shorts - much better. Your time with your grandsons sounds like a perfect way to spend a day. 😀. Lovely photos
Thanks so much, I was pleased how the jumpsuit came out and as you say, the shorts are so much better now! I had a ball last Thursday with the boys, now I need to think of something to do with them this week. 😊🧵
So excited that your granddaughter loves her dolly. Grandma win! That jumpsuit is super cute on you! My favorite make is for sure that little bag. I would carry it around all day long; it's adorable!!
Carole, your vlog is always the first one I look for when waking early on Friday mornings. You never disappoint! Your jumpsuit looks spectacular on you. It did sound like a head-scratcher as you talked about it,but it turned out Wowzers! 🤩
Thank you so much Lynn, the pressure is on now never to disappoint you 🤣. That jumpsuit pattern is just an odd one but works out well in the end. Have a good weekend 🧵😊
@@socarole66 Thanks, Carole. I’m working on some Tinley shorts, adapting the waist band back to have just one wide piece of elastic. I found a wave stitch on my machine that sewed it in beautifully. I have had to size down after my somewhat ugly, oversized toiles. I’m much happier with the fit but don’t want to be bothered with 3 narrow rows of elastic. I’m constantly doing something wrong, except for the pair I made for my daughter. Go figure! Sew with joy…
Great vlog as usual Carole. I love the jump suit. Was that the fabric you got from Beyond the Pink Door? The bag is very pretty too. Have a good week, Pat
Hi Carole! And you worried about whether or not your grand-daughter would be afraid of her new dolly?!?!? Sounds like it was a big WIN-WIN! You took one of the most perfect pictures of your son and husband at the pattern book counter. I couldn't ever get my husband in the front door of a fabric shop! Nope!! Not ever! Happy Sewing!!
The Dolly was certainly a win and she is named Caroline...using the Carol bit which was sweet of them to choose that 🥰. I do love sewing for others and I can't wait to make more clothes! You mean to say William doesn't go to the Sewing Studio with you?! 🤣. I am not sure quite why I deserved my visit but happy to go with it! Have a super week and stay safe in the storm.xxx💗
Nooooo... William has never seen the inside of JoAnn's or The Sewing Studio. He's always welcome to go with me and he knows that I would like his company but he doesn't go out shopping very much at all anymore. Yes, we have Tropical Storm Debby barreling through the state this week-end. We've had a lot of rain and gusts of rain today so, yes, I've been sewing a little bit. Finished some hemming jobs on a couple of tops, did a couple of little mending jobs, and I made another adult bib for William. I have yet to tackle making button-holes on that top I want to finish but I will do that real soon.
The jumpsuit is beautiful and the shorts look much better. This makes feel a bit more confident when zI get around to making this pattern as I have in my pattern stash (somewhere...). The bag is georgious andis something I may need to try when I'm feeling a bit more confident in my sewing skills. Thank you for sharing all your beautiful makes.
Thanks so much for your kind comments. Plenty of people have made the Tinley shorts with success so maybe the style and shape just didn't suit me. It is a good pattern and easy to make up so just have a go! Have a good week 😊🧵
I always wake up on the morning of a Hairdresser visit and my hair just behaves!! Why does it always do that?! Thanks so much for watching and your comment 😊🧵
Hi Carole your fabrics are what I love. Your jumpsuit is beautiful 😍 l really like the bag you made it's cute! Carole l enjoyed the video thank you for sharing!! 😊🥰
Thank you so much for watching and your kind comments! I am so pleased you like my fabrics even though I do tend to keep buying blue for some reason. Have a great week ahead 😊🧵
Yay shorts refashion success from initial disappointment. Love the bag you made, gorgeous selection of fat quarters. I also like the new blue fabric. I have a teal colour way of the fist one you showed with the little leaves on it (just made a simple elastic waist skirt). When I was a little girl my mum and dad would sometimes take me to Ilkley to play in a very shallow part of the river wharf, which I loved doing. If I was a very lucky girl they’d take me to Ilkley lido so I could freeze. The water was never very warm no matter how hot the day. 😂 I just kept forgetting this fact. River was far warmer.😂
Hi Ann, I have seen that fabric in a teal colour way as well somewhere!! A skirt in it would have been very pretty indeed. You are right about the river water, it wasn't cold at all yet the sea in Bournemouth is still freezing at the moment! How lovely you had a lido to go to as a child, what fun you must have had even though you probably froze. Happy days eh? Have a super weekend and if you go to a river, paddle for old times sake 🤣. Take care 🧵😊
That bag is beautiful , would be perfect for sun cream, book and water bottle to carry down to the beach when my children are playing. I can keep the sandy things in a different bag ❤
You are right Sarah, it would be cool as a little beach or pool bag! I love the way it stands up rather than collapsing. Thanks so much for taking the time to watch and comment 😊🧵
That jumpsuit is lovely! The fabric is gorgeous. The bag you have made is so cool! The fabrics go so nicely together. Definitely worth putting the top on hold to make it. Xxx
Thanks so much Samantha, that bag was such fun to make and a very different construction to normal. What made it easy was they put the fabrics together, that is the bit i am useless at! 🧵😊
So happy you could save your shorts! Love your fabrics you purchased. I get a little jealous of how plentiful fabric shops are to those overseas. Reminds me of the days when I had five shops in my hometown and now it’s just quilt shops. Just lovely to see the smiles on video maker’s face as they show their finds🥰
It is funny as I really feel we don't have many sewing shops at all where I live compared to all the many JoAnns some parts of America have but I appreciate that isn't the same everywhere. As you say, for some reason if a shop does pop up it always seems to be Quilting fabrics, I guess they are more lucrative. Thanks so much for watching and your comment, have a great weekend 🧵😊
I have 1 more week of babysitting my 3 grandkids Then they start school. I plan to sew this weekend, and preparing new projects for when the kids start school.
Gosh School is starting early for you? I have another 4 weeks to go before they start back. Great idea to get some sewing planned! Enjoy that this weekend 🧵😊
Hey Carole! LOVE your jumpsuit!!!! Very cute dance in it. 😆 Obviously, you were very pleased with the outcome, and so you should be. Great alternation on the shorts. Much, much better fit. Nappiesque? LOL!!! Your bag is so pretty, so colorful. Good to have a different sewing project to work on. Working on quilts or garments all the time leads to burnout. Gotta do something just for fun at least once or twice a month. Really enjoyed the photos of your grandboys playing the stream. What fun!!! I would have been playing in the water with them. 🥰xx Dori
Dori you are so right on doing a 'different' sort of project every now and again and I am always amazed what new skills I learn with these little makes. Sometimes I just want to 'play' with fabric and sew in straight lines rather than seams and curves 🤣. After all , there are only so many garments a British wardrobe can handle, not like the American dressing rooms!! I couldn't keep myself out of the water don't worry, I would sit for a couple of minutes and then just have to join in fishing when one of the boys discarded a net! I got a few myself and tried to stay cool and calm in front of other adults 🤣🐟The best bit was when the horses came down for a cool off, one of the leaders got down off his horse and let the boys stroke his horse Apollo, the boys just loved that! ( I will say though the man was extremely handsome...sorry Chris🤣) Have a great week and don't do too much, you will need all your energy for your new life in Florida xxxx
Well - there definitely has been a “blue” theme to your week hasn’t there? LOL I love the jumpsuit and great job on saving those shorts!! I’m so glad grand-daughter loves her doll - I knew she would because it was so cute. Thank you for the pictures at the end. It amazes me that there are wild horses out there still. How cool!! Xx 💞
The New Forest is chock a block with wild horses, ponies and donkeys! On the way to the river there was a bunch of 10 just stood in the road stubbornly not going anywhere. That is the problem with driving around the New Forest, they love to cause a traffic jam 🤣I am guessing that doesn't happen in Montreal?! You are right about the blue theme and you won't be the first to notice that I bet, I just keep buying blue for some reason without meaning to 💙. Hope you have a good weekend and stay nice and cool testing out your gorgeous swimwear. xx💗
You certainly had a great week, Dancing Queen in that jumpsuit and great save on the shorts. I made a Laura Ashley with tie pocket jumpsuit in a cabbage flower chintz over 30 years ago. Wore it all the time, thought I was so fashionable 😅 So happy your Granddaughter has a new little friend, waiting for the name. Bucket bag is so pretty, lots of use from that. Boys, water and fish what a fun afternoon. Such great pics! Thanks for an inspiring video. I know you will be sewing up a storm this week Home Alone…Enjoy!
Thanks Kathleen, I am not sure quite why I broke into a dance but I think I just wanted to show how floppy the legs were 🤣. You HAD a Laura Ashley jumpsuit!!I think I know the ones and wow, I would have been so jealous of you. I couldn't afford anything in that shop back then! Boys, water and fish....you can't go wrong can you 🤣 I asked my son today what the dolly's name will be and apparently it is Caroline (taking my name plus a bit more!), how sweet is that. Have a great week 😊🧵
@@kathleenkolb3316 oh you made it!! Sorry I didn't read that properly, that's amazing and Jen (Today in Jens sewing room) would be extremely proud of you as wasn't that the one she has done? 🧵
Thanks so much for clarifying your comment last week 🤣. I am so glad I bothered to fix those shorts, I am so much happier now and even the fabric looks happier. Have a great week 😊🧵
Holy cow your subscriber count is SOARING!! Thats awesome! I love the jumpsuit and 0:06 glad you sorted out the shorts issue. They do look perfect now. What a great idea to set the boys free in the wild! I bet they had a blast. I cant believe your Grand daughter is a year old. That FLEW!! I so t see anything weong with your hair! Its cute like always❤. Make sure Chris brings you home aome pretty trxtiles from India. Send him to one of those markets! Have fun enjoying summer. Love you❤
These little ones are just growing up so fast but you know that from first hand experience don't you! My hair was ratty and disgusting and looks so much better now thank goodness, the orange has gone 👩🏼🦰😂. I have hinted to Chris about some fabrics but not sure what I would do with them if he did bring some back...eeekk.. Summer is still hanging on over here, we just need it for a few more weeks until we go away....then we don't care 😂. Take care in that stormxxxx💗xxxx
Carole you are so patient to completely re-make the shorts. You certainly got a nice pair of shorts out of it. Love the jumpsuit and the bag is adorable, I don't know which is cuter, the guys looking at the pattern books or Rudolph. The boys in the stream does look like a perfect summer's day. Enjoy you week of sewing.
I honestly don't know where I got that sudden burst of patience from! It was worth it though so maybe I should make a note of that for future projects. Those men really enjoyed those pattern books, I love the fact Chris even sat down to read one 🤣. Rudolph of course is genius whoever did that. How wonderful to create something to make all who see it smile . Thanks for watching and have a great weekend 🧵😊
@@annsheldrake3554 I'll keep fingers crossed for you. I've had one in my knee before and my husband has and they both worked! Hope that's the same for you xx
I love all the blue prints and would only wear that color if I were not distracted by others! Love love love the jumpsuit. Great job perfecting the LN Tinley shorts for yourself. I had recently made a couple of pairs of elastic-back-waist trousers that had hip darts, so thought you might eventually play with that. I think they make a load of sense with many patterns unless one's waist is close to or bigger than hip size. I knew your granddaughter would love her cloth doll with simplistic facial features. Human brains have appeared to scientists to be "hard-wired" to recognize what makes "a face." Thanks for sharing the outdoors video. ❤Kelly
Thanks so much for your comments and yes, blue is such a great colour, I keep being attracted to it! A hip dart is something I have never come across in a trouser pattern before, back darts like I ended up putting in worked well though. You are right about the doll face, I think the simplicity is the key plus it was easy to copy! Have a good week 😊🧵
Hi Carol lovely photos, I do know where you were I used to take my grandchildren there when they were little it's a lovely peaceful place. It is nice living so close to the New Forest I'm only 10 mins. The shorts do look alot better with your alterations 👍The jumpsuit is wonderful and the fabric suits it very well. Glad to know you're recovering well from your op' and can use your arm much better. Have a lovely week and happy sewing 🪡🧵
Thanks so much for watching Susan. We are both so lucky to have the New Forest so near, so many wonderful spots like this one and you can beat just letting children play outside can you. I appreciate your kind comments on the shorts and jumpsuit and yes my arm is getting much better, still can’t iron though 😂. Have a good weekend 🧵😊
Oh, how wonderful!!! Saving things that was disappointing is so nice. Your new place for your machine is so much better!! Now I can sew there without feeling lik a giant 😂. The Jumpsuit is just awesome!!
Hi Carole, I too enjoy a TV in my sewing room. Unfortunately, the best set up has me facing a wall as I sew, with the TV behind. I think that my solution was quite clever. I mounted a mirror on the wall at my machine, and all I have to do is look into it to view my show. 😊
Ooooo now that is a clever idea Maureen and I have a mirror just to the side that I could probably adjust! Thanks so much for your comment and can't wait to try it. Have a good week 😊🧵
Such a great video - love your makes! ALL of them! I'm sitting at my office and dying to get home and sew . . . planning for a day in the sewing room tomorrow!
Hi Carole! Oh what beautiful pics at the end- looks like the boys had a blast! Your jumpsuit looks fabulous on you and that bag is awesome! I’m sure Chris is loving his custom made t shirts ❤ He’s lucky to have his own personal seamstress 😂 Those two at the pattern books- priceless! You’ll be proud of me I’m working on some trousers 😮 and great fix on those shorts! Enjoy your week of sewing 🧵 ❤❤❤
The boys (and I ) had such a good time yesterday. Now I have to think of something equally good for next week 😅. Chris is loving his t shirts and he really wears them with pride, I think it’s the fabric to be honest but I’ll take the compliment! The men and those pattern books were hilarious, especially when they came to the Know Me patterns 😂🤣, which let’s face it are just way out there! Can’t wait to see your trousers eeekkk 👏👖. Have a great weekend and week ahead xx❤️
I live in Sissinghurst just down the road from Twells. Still havnt been in world of sewing. My daughter lives there, will have to definitely pop in and have a look. Take care. Xxxx
Oh not far away at all then! That shop was much bigger inside than it looked, a real Tardis of a shop! Lots of lovely machines too and the staff were so friendly. Hope you manage to make a trip. Thanks for watching 🧵😊
Hello Carole! I just had a feeling that you wouldn’t give up on those shorts! Great job, now that’s some great out of the box thinking! I love that bag, those colors! They just shout spring, so now you’re ahead of the game for next year. You are very brave to wear that jumpsuit out of the house, I wouldn’t do it, but I don’t like them anyway. It’s a cute make and it looks great on you, you definitely have the figure for it. I have never been a fan of having to get undressed to visit the ladies. It wouldn’t work out well for me, especially in the summer. The photos are spectacular, the horses are gorgeous and your grands are getting so big! They look like they are really enjoying themselves. Have a great weekend and enjoy sewing night and day next week!😅
Hi Sue, it was funny as I really didn't have any intention of working on those shorts anymore then I just made myself! You are right about the Spring bag, as you say, I am thinking 2 seasons ahead like the fashion houses 🤣. I don't get too worried about the jumpsuit as I will probably only wear it for a couple of hours in the evenings on holiday but as you say, it doesn't make for a quick visit to the Ladies. I am looking forward to getting some sewing projects done next week and I will enjoy not being tied to meal times that's for sure! It this lovely weather continues however, I may need to take the machines outside to make the most of it. Hope you enjoy your weekend and week ahead. I now have to think of somewhere equally as fun for the boys next Thursday 🤣. 🧵😊
@@socarole66 , I meant to tell you, but maybe you already know, Itch to Stitch has a new topper pattern and it’s free! It’s the Deba topper, it’s so cute. I’ll be making it this weekend. 🤣
Hi Carole, so pleased you managed to rectify the Tinleys after your disappointment. I thought the catchphrase was „safe and stable“ but you have introduced us to new lingo 😊 Love those blue materials you chose for your outfits. Again, lovely photos and what a joy to see children enjoying nature and actually making a catch! I bet you were over the moon to see that your granddaughter loved the doll. I have a pile of fabric to work on. Have started to make a tote bag for my holiday. I intend to try out some more Lutterloh too. Have a great weekend. 🙋🏼♀️🌻
Thanks so much for all your nice comments Amanda. Sounds like you have some good plans as well for sewing. I am so pleased my Granddaughter liked the doll, I know I would have done as a child! I have had some good success with Lutterloh recently but want to re do a project I made early on which didn't fit so well. Have a great weekend too 🧵😊
Hi Lori, thanks so much for asking about the elbow. It is still in the sore stage at the moment but it is improving and I seem to be able to do much more than I did pre Op! Have a great weekend 🧵😊
I love when kids just play outside instead of being in front of a screen😊. Also, can’t understand why you kept saying how bad your hair looked, to me it looks freshly styled!
Oh I love it too! I quite often tell them that Nanny's TV doesn't work some days 🤣. To be honest, even though they love their computer time, if you offer them a 'real' activity they are still at the age they would rather do that. Long may that last! Thanks for watching and your kind comments on my hair that day. 😊🧵
Love the jumpsuit! I don’t think I would manage that overtop thing. I’m sure I would be confused…right side to wrong side 🤯. The bag is very pretty and the shorts are a definite improvement. I’ve sometimes done this with M&S trousers which never fit properly on me. I would have loved to see the dress 8640? I’ve tried to make this three times and maybe because of the fabric, they have never been that successful for me or my daughter. I’d love to know why? And why so many other people are successful with it. Happy Sewing and thanks for the video 🧵 Trish S
Thanks so much for watching and your comment. I am interested to hear about your 8640 problems. Both times I have made it in a rayon challis which has draped nicely, Jen and Trish have both made it in cottons. In what way did you find it didn't work for you? I do get that because of the shapes of the pieces it would be hard to adapt with an FBA or something. The thing I do hate about it is the facings that pop out, I wouldn't do those next time. 😊🧵
Thanks so much for replying Carole. I don’t know whether it’s the material I’m choosing- I suspect that may be it. The first toile one I did in a fairly fluid but maybe a bit too structured cotton poly. Because of my bust I had to size up and that meant the v section was too low down on me ( I’m 5ft 2ins) it just looked a bit odd and exaggerated, though I was pleased with the way it fitted together. So then I made a size down for my daughter who’s much taller and I did it in a cotton linen for a more fluid drape. She wasn’t really happy with it either 😢. Finally I thought, ok I will try to redraft the top section so there is a tiny bit more bust space, but not volume ( a bust adjustment I suppose) and I did it in a double gauze. Am I mad! This is now ok after a bit of readjustment of the front. The v section is less ripply now than it was 😂 but I’m beginning to hate the pattern. Yet everyone else seems to rave about it. Perhaps it’s just me and it doesn’t suit my figure. I usually need a reasonable fit at the bust and looser but not drowning in fabric bottom. Any ideas I’d appreciate. I’d hate to think it’s beaten me…
@@trishsh5007 double gauze?!?! You are right... you are insane! I swore I would never sew with that again, gave it another chance this week and that's it, I'm done with it for good 🤣 I can't help on sizing at all and I am the same height as you so the angled join must hit in the same place. Re the rippling, I always put some interfacing on the seam lines on the front where all the joins are to stabilise it. I would never attempt that pattern in double gauze, it has to be a lightweight woven for me. The dress isn't perfect don't get me wrong, it can look a bit shapeless but it's cool and that's the main thing
Thanks Carole. Yes I think you’re right. I was mad to attempt it in double gauze. I WILL give it one last try with a viscose. Actually the double gauze one is not a complete fail, but it is just out of my comfort zone. Perhaps the double gauze made it drop too far as well. And I usually take a couple of inches out on patterns for length unless they’re short. I didn’t do this so maybe another reason why it’s so long. You have no idea how nice it has been to chat about what went wrong. I don’t really have any sewing friends ( or at least ones who would be interested in what went wrong😂). It’s been therapeutic! Thank you. On to better things, and no gauze. I think I’ll leave the Simplicity pattern alone till maybe next year 😉
@@trishsh5007 I know exactly what you mean about having no sewing friends and that is exactly why I started my channel. I commented a lot for years with Jen and others and it was so wonderful. I'm glad they persuaded me to give my channel a go. Maybe you should think about it?! I don't know of anyone that has regretted it!! 💕
Well I don't have an issue with it and I made one two years ago and wear it almost every holiday! You just slip off the shoulders which I suppose if you get the size right it works. Hopefully this one will be the same! Good luck if you make it. I have put a link to a video I've been made aware of where there is a sew along I think. It's from Inside the Hem. I haven't had time to watch it but Lindsey may go into more details. 🧵😊
