Greetings from Chicago, Spencer! I just want to thank you and tell you how informative, detailed, and helpful your videos are. Between you and Jason, you guys are opening up players to a whole new dimension of skating mechanics (many that were “laughed” at or even “frowned” upon, back in the day). It’s also so awesome to see all the progress you’re making! Keep up the good work!! 🍻
Brotha, thank you for this video as I'm learning downhill skating. Makes perfect sense for those combo corkscrew infinity curve drills in terms of what I need to be thinking about on the turn and subsequent cross under.
Thanks for the question Douglas! I mentioned it very quickly in my how to lean like McDavid video. The shoulders/ upper body should not lean in to the extent that the shoulders dip below the hips. But it doesn't necessarily need to be upright either... I know confusing. The rule I go with, is as long as the shoulders don't dip below the hips you're good. In certain situations you might find it easier to keep your upper body more upright (for me punch turns and quick changes of direction). in other situations it may be tilted (for me tight crosses). Hope that helps!
