Hey long time fan here, have an idea for a video. Do you remember a channel called the pinkman? He did videos in the same vein but different style of delivery as you. Could you do a video where you find out what happened to him? He deleted all his videos but the channel is still up.

@McDojoLife Hey Rob! Are you the one who deleted the replies from Detroit Threat Management Center? They spam-linked a BS video about a "testimony" from a "real life Police Officer" who said that while he was at an ATM machine, THE VERY FIRST THING THAT WENT THROUGH HIS MIND WHEN HE SAW A GUN POINTED AT HIS HEAD WAS HIS GUN DISARMING TRAINING (Yeah... Right.) and that he allegedly then proceeded to successfully disarm the suspect that was only after his money, and hold him until the (Real) Police arrived... That video is SOOO Sketchy, the "Policeman" was directed through the interview and he was clearly having trouble holding in his laughter at many points... Aaannnd of course the comments are turned off and the amount of Likes/Dislikes is hidden! This video by itself has absolutely ZERO value and does nothing else than further hurt any credibility they have/had left! You were even considerate enough to say that they have "some" legit content (~10% by your estimate)! But Man!!! Instead of listening to the arguments you have put forth and taking the time to reflect upon their practices, which is the very least and also the very first thing any good Martial Artist/Fighter would do, they just doubled down by spamming a link to a video that would have helped "legitimize" their practices in their eyes... ANY good Martial Artist, Fighter, Athlete, Artist, develops HUMILITY as one of his cornerstone values, something that is learned by walking the path... Along the journey, one quickly realizes that it's totally NOT about reaching the absolute but it's about striving all your life towards it, it's the transformative journey in itself that matters... The path is all about the training, self-improvement, reassessing your skills & beliefs, keeping an open mind, being open to criticism, exercising critical thinking on any (old &) new info/lesson presented, cultivating your spirit, your serenity, your curiosity by exploring what other disciplines teach and do, becoming a better human being that strives to keep the peace. I know that you know all about this! But I think it's appropriate and important to state it once in a while 😉. After that dick move, I'd urge you to reconsider your assessment of DTMC to give them a rating of 5/5 Dillmans! Here's why: Even if you have good intentions. Even if the heart of this group is about being a positive force in the community... If the end result is that at best 10% of your advice/teachings are valid, the other 90% that's worthless will put you in the hospital (best case scenario). But most importantly is if you're bringing in young kids into this "self-defense" system, you're doing so much damage at just so many levels (like you said so well: making a kid believe that it's possible to dodge a bullet and disarm an adult so easily is EXTREMELY dangerous! It's worse giving kids this overconfidence, but it's still an incredibly irresponsible thing to do to ANY person, whatever the age, and this WILL get people killed, if it hasn't happened already...). The fact that DTMC didn't get that point about the kids at the very least shows that they deserve a 100% bull$hit rating!

@@christiangauthier727 I definitely deleted the spam. I left the ones up in which they sent it as a reply to people but the spamming of that was just childish. It blows my mind the caliber of people that have criticized them and yet they double down on they can do no wrong and can’t possibly get anything incorrect with technique. Rener Gracie and Michael Bisping both agreed with me and yet rather than listening to those legends they just double down. It’s really fascinating stuff.

I was asked to teach a woman's self defense class for the mom's of the students at dojo I worked at. The class was late at night and I did not want to teach it so to get out of it I spent two weeks refusing to pretend any of these hocus pocus moves worked. No magical reversals, no exaggerated pressure points, no judoka level hip tosses from someone 100lbs lighter than me that's never been in a fight. The owner of the gym was pretty ticked off but I'm not gonna lie to a bunch of soccer mom's and tell them they can beat a 240lb man in a dark alley just by screaming "Ki-yahhhh!"

@jonathonmyers1587
@jonathonmyers1587 2 года назад
@@mechanomics2649 Guns are far more likely to de-escalate the situation than escalate the situation, and take far less training to be a sufficient in self-defense than it takes training in martial arts to learn "...just enough to get away." While there are techniques that can be learned that can compensate for disadvantages, those techniques are often low percentage success rates and require lots of time (measured in years) to learn to increase the odds of success. Meanwhile, an afternoon on the range with a competent gun instructor can teach anyone enough competency to achieve a near 100% success rate of ending a conflict (often without resorting to violence).

Semper Fi brother. 100% agree on this point. The point of even utilizing a gun or rifle at any point is to eliminate threats, point blank. Even if it is a criminal, the presence of a weapon is to use it, not to show dominance or aggression. Yes the fear factor is present but if someone pointed a gun, good or bad guy, cooperation is a must. Fuck whatever training you have (talking about being unarmed), the first rule is cooperation, afterwards is opportunity to escape (if feasible run away), then finally (if necessary) if it comes down to it to survive under any means (no Hollywood bullshit), like grab a weapon yourself, or hide, take cover, etc. Obviously if you're armed too which Military training is primarily used in that case, immediate actions then are taken. You're a marine too so obviously you know what I'm talking about.

Several years ago, I was accosted on a London street, whilst on a night out with my boss. This diminutive fella stopped us to ask my boss for a cigarette (as he was smoking). He then reached into his bag, his manner instantly turned aggressive and pulled out (what we immediately presumed to be) a gun, pointing it at my head and told us to hand over our phones. My boss was stunned, and backed off immediately. With this thing in direct contact with my head, all I could see was what roughly looked like a gun wrapped in a hankerchief. The guy swore at us and demanded the phones or he'd f***** shoot me. At this, my immediate response was to grab the 'gun' with my right hand (my fastest) snatching it off him whilst moving to the side. The guy was in utter shock - "Give it back!" he said, as I processed what I had just done - both furious and surprised by my own reaction. Again, my boss was standing wondering WTF was going to happen next. I unwrapped the 'gun' and revealed it to be nothing more than a chequered shirt, folded up into a fairly sturdy triangle shape! Stunned, absolutely bloody furious and fairly drunk, I recall wanting to kick the guys head in...so my 14 years of karate training took over. I assessed the situation in a moment of clarity - the guy was clearly living on the streets and had nothing, and was now minus a shirt. I was about 7 inches taller than him and 3 stone heavier. The 'fight' was over and really didn't need any further escalation...he might have produced a knife at that point for all I knew. If I'd lamped him, I might have really hurt him and ended up in far more trouble than he ever would...I had a lot more to lose. So instead I told him to f*** off, and called the Police. Weirdly he stayed in the area, which was frankly bloody weird, so he must have been on something. They showed up, I said "that's the c***!" pointing to him, and immediately received a verbal warning from the coppers to leave the area or get nicked too. I went back to my hotel and had a safe nights' sleep, until woken at 3AM to provide a witness statement. I think if I learnt anything from this real-life encounter, it's that you don't really know nor can you anticipate how you will react, so trying to practice these McDoJo BS maneuvers promoted by nobheads like DTM (who've probably not being in a real life situation), is frankly useless. And now I have a weird anecdote which I can proudly recount as being held-up at shirt-point, which my Wife is sick of hearing, my boss forgets too easily, and no-one really ever believes!
