AotD: I like hearing your opinions on martial arts especially because you’ve doing it for so long. I do enjoy seeing you interact with newer but more open-minded martial artists. I feel like you’ve got a lot of experience and wisdom, and I’d love to see more content where you explore that side of your training. 20/20 Video! I remember that place. But my favorite UFC fight is Keith Hackney Vs Emanuel Yarbarough. Congratulations to reaching this milestone. Glad to see this journey these past couple of years 🙏 New ideas? I am not sure, I general like seeing people helping others out, or educational stuff that occur in different areas and spectrums of martial arts. Martial arts in general is so vast with centuries of history, i study many eras and nations history, including the gladiatorial history, or tactics implemented in war.

The UFC tapes were in the Special Interest section at the video stores around me in South Carolina, next to the pro wrestling tapes. They weren't hidden away or anything here. They weren't rated, so kids could check them out. I gradually went through the first several UFC tapes back then, but I didn't like when they kept adding rules and everyone started cross training, as I was much more into the separate disciplines being tested against each other in real combat. I understand why it evolved, as is only natural in competition.

Congratulations on reaching 100,00 subscribers! Have you considered doing a Dojo/Gym of the month or quarter? You could highlight a facility who is doing things the right way and making a positive impact on their students and community. This would also be a great way to introduce McDojoLife to an entire Dojo/Gym and earn more subscribers. Anyway, here's to continued success!

Congrats, Sir. I always thought an occasional "hidden gems" dojo edition would be nice. I don't know how you'd actually find such places and verify they're on the up and up, but maybe I'm overthinking things. If it could work though, I think it would make finding a place to train less daunting for people who now have major anxiety about all the frauds and criminals masquerading as instructors. We know the red flags, but if someone already has 0 self-confidence, they may not trust their judgement to actually see said red flags in action.

Congratulations on hitting 100k man! Do you think you could get hold of some of the old ads from the back of comic books and kids magazines with the mail away stuff? Like the secrets of the Dim Mak, fake black belts and certificates, etc? Especially if you could get hold of any of the mail away items themselves as well, or maybe there's someone out there who has that kind of stuff you could bring on, even remotely. That could be fun.

Rob, there was a martial arts "master" in Austin, TX from the 1980's until just a few years ago who definitely fit the McDojo description who went by the name of Dr. Larry Sanders. I think he finally got run out of town when some BJJ folks confronted him about his resume. Details are a bit sketchy now, but he was/is definitely on the level of a Frank Dux/Fred Villari when it came to exaggerated credentials.

Might be fun to do a series on Bullshido techniques where you demonstrate 3 different techniques off the same kind of attack -- one that is real/viable, one that is bull$hit that you made up, and one that is bull$hit from some mcdojo. Reveal at the end of the video which is which and see who you can fool :) Either way, Congrats on 100k -- well-deserved, and we're all grateful for the work you have been doing!

I remember this era. Oleg Taktarov vs Tank Abbott was one of the gems of the time. I remember purchasing the fight for anyone who was at Intrepid Hall in Norfolk at the time. The show was so basic then and they had nothing for in between fights so there was this long awkward lag. Oleg was just a little guy and Tank was steamrolling people so everyone expected a quick KO from Tank. NOPE!. Taktarov proved little guys can get the job done.

Parabéns on the silver play button. The Rob's bar bit sounds like a brilliant idea. I think a cool thing would be for people to be able to go to a neutral place to pressure test each other's martial arts. Instead of bum rushing some poor guys gym and making them look foolish. Just have them come to a neutral place, that way there are no arguments over it all either.

Actually Napster was a 2000's thing, not a 90s thing. It started in mid-1999, but the whole Napster activity usage wasn't a thing until year 2000 on up.
