McDonald Observatory (Texas Country Reporter) 

My late wife and I went to a star party there in 2008 and was able to witness a green fireball drop over the mountain! Beautiful memory.

Been there 3 times and it is outrageously awesome

I was there briefly back around the late sixties or early seventies for a tour. We weren’t there very long when they made an announcement that for anyone that had never driven down a a mountain side in a severe blinding thunderstorm better leave now. So we did and no sooner got to the bottom and the gates of hell opened. I had never experienced a thunderstorm that bad before and since.

Reaching the top of my bucket list in the next few months.

WOW for sure. I'd love to go visit this place. An 82" Telescope, I can't imagine how it looks in person. Bob, thanks for taking us along with you today.

I have been wanting to come to this star party for a very long time and meet Mr. Wingert . At my astronomy club we only have a 36 mirror on our scope . But we have a blast on those nights when the weather is cooperating . Keep doing what your doing out there . What is the name of your star party ?
