Slow down at 33:44 and you'll see that short cut of Jax reacting to Ragatha about Kaufmo's funeral; at first I thought it was weird that they put in this clip of him watching them, but the way that he shows a flicker of sadness before going back to his usual I-don't-care attitude as he walks away really knocked it out of the park. It's really hard, especially in animation, to take time to animate small moments like these to humanize characters; it was just a few frames, but it shows while Jax is trying to survive by treating everything as a game and try not to care about anything, he's not completely heartless. He knew Kaufmo, and while he might have been annoying to him, he still enjoyed the time spent with him even if he would never admit it. This only makes me more excited to see how Jax develops as the series continues; whether he survives, or deepens his relationships with the other characters, it'll definitely take a long time for him to open up at all...

This episode gives a fun little look at how each character “plays” the games. Zooble is the non-player, Gangle is the teammate that does whatever you tell them, Kinger is the one that doesn’t know what they’re doing, Ragatha is the play-to-enjoy, Jax is the murder-hobo, and Pomni is the meta-player.

Which word applies to Pomni is less important than how you feel about her appearance. An arachnophobe who gets freaked out be a long-legged crab isn't going to miraculously feel better if someone points out it's a crab.

I believe jesters are normally requested by royals for intertainment, while clowns are more for the common folk. It's possible that jesters were once clowns that were hired because they were a cut above and were made to wear jester outfits because they didn't like the clown get up

Just an FYI: Gangle is a girl and Zooble is non-binary they/them. Zooble being non-binary is because they can manually switch out all of their body parts by using a suitcase full of spare ones. That’s why they look a little different in this episode.

To answer a bunch of your questions because I can’t resist being ☝️🤓 that person: Someone asked Gooseworx the same question about if Caine bites his eyeballs. Apparently it would only happen if he thought it’d be funny, otherwise they would just clip through his teeth with no contact. Also I assume the reason Jax calls shotgun is because he’s picking the gun as opposed to the seat. Oh, and on the matter of Pomni’s memories, Gooseworx recently tweeted that they do have memories from before they came to the circus. Their names are the main thing they forget (maybe for legal purposes of whatever company is running this nightmarish simulation). Also, to take Jax’s bullying of Gangle to another level, apparently he chose her new name when she arrived at the circus. Most of the others have names that are either randomly generated or that they chose themselves. The theater kid really can’t catch a break. Especially since Jax will supposedly get even worse in future episodes…

The tea pots are there because tea pots are really easy to programme in while also being extremely helpful to test complex lighting when making stuff and are sometimes left in the game under the map.

I see Clowns and Jester alike, I don't care what's the difference. And I see some people calls Pomni a clown too because there was a YTP video where someone puts Pomni in the background only as an easter egg, even those guys at 27:07 calls Pomni a clown. Some people in community used to like Jax because of their headconon theories because they believed that Jax is being a jerk because he was traumatized or something, but they're starting to hate him after what he was doing in this episode, they didn't even pay attention in the first episode. I never liked him from the very beginning neither, we can see him that he was trying to get everyone killed on purpose in both episodes, it's obvious he's a sadist. On top of all that, I do feel bad for Gummigoo at the end

This is my own headcanon, but I think the main cast are the personalities of the team that programed this world. They somehow transferred their likeness into them but not their memories leading up to being uploaded. So that would explain how they wouldn't remember their life that lead them to now. Also, a clown isn't much different from a jester in my book. Both would fit in at a circus so I just lump them together and didn't think of it till this show.

The difference between a clown and a jester is this: Clowns make fun of and self-depreciate themselves to entertain the audience. They are purely there to put on a show and make sure the crowd has fun. Kaufmo was a clown, and he did his best trying to entertain the rest of the crew, up until his abstraction. Jesters make fun of/mock their equals and superiors to entertain themselves and the audience, normally pointing out issues and questioning things, while also providing wisdom/council. Historically, Jesters were put in royal courts to make fun of the royalty whenever problems happened, generally pointing out possible solutions while calling the king a moron. They were one of the few types of positions of power that could actively get away with that back then. Pomni is a Jester, pointing things out and providing solutions when the need arises. Though, her humor is still quite low at the moment, but that's reasonable after all that's happened to her in two episodes (and a bunch of teasers).

@@chelzorthedestroyer Counter-counter point, people typically call jesters clowns because of similar occupations and visuals, just like how some people call cockatoos parrots, or ravens crows, or lamas emus, or nerds geeks. *EDIT*: Alpacas, not Emus. I have no idea WHY I suggested emus looked like lamas.
