Lol the color is different because Mcfarlane cheaped out the production painting a translucent piece of plastic instead to do it with black plastic and installing the windows later with clear plastic.
Mine comes tomorrow from Amazon. I was lucky enough to not get a cancelation. Great addition to the collection and great price point. This review just got me more hyped for mine to come.
Look how lazy they were that they couldn’t match the paint on the cockpit sliding door to the rest of the black on the vehicle. 🤦♂️ That’s is unbelievable!
@FN-1701AgentGodzillaRangerPrime Ω Sorry, that's not correct. People have been discussing the differences for a while. Similar, but slightly different, including the height of the canopy which is taller than the one from 89.
Awesome review, Spot! I like the way the cockpit hatch slides forward. That's such a cool detail. Plus the way the dials and gauges have detail is too good!
Been waiting for you to do this one Spot. I love it. It gives me serious Dark Knight collection from Kenner vibes. The canopy opens accurately and this is glorious with NECA 89 Batman or Mezco 89 Batman. Todd hit a home run and kept it affordable.
I pre-ordered it the moment they announced it! I've seen some customizations where they put LEDs in the lights and painted it all a matte black and I think I'll be doing that to mine once it comes in.
That canopy is terrible. The shape kills the look. Btw it never had Gatling guns it had 30mm browning mounted Machine guns. Tje wheels here are too tall and the tyres profile too low but hey itself a kids toy
It rulz, just a blown up Jada at 12” better suspension also, although I prefer jadas more accurate paint up to the film but I literally got the last one at big bad toy store but I’m sure more will be made
I think I’m one of the few who don’t mind the canopy too much. Overall this is what most fans want, and for the price it can’t be beat. Of course it has its flaws, but to me the canopy isn’t a deal breaker. Keep up the great work Spot!
Just got mine yesterday and I was absolutely floored. This Batmobile hits you right in the 89 feels. Hoping we do get another all black canopy version with 89 Batman, I'd definitely buy another. ❤
It's really nice for the most part. Used to having to repaint McFarlane stuff constantly anyway, so nothing new there. It's funny that he doubled down and tried to say it's supposed to look whacked out instead of admitting the screw up. No way this is how it is in the new movie looking at photos. Maybe I'm wrong, but if that is how it looks that's lame as hell.
The Batmobile looks fine enough to buy it. The Batmobiles made in the past were also made of light plastics. Still have the animated and 1995 Batmobiles made by Kenner. They are very light weighted as well
The canopy bothers me in general. It’s shaped all wrong first of all and looks beyond cheap and yes the matte grey while the rest of the car is glossy black (more Returns like than 89 and Flash). $60 is cheap for the size but it’s also cheap and hollow when you get it. I like the concept of the idea, but the execution is terrible. I’m hoping they release a better more accurate 89 version, apparently there’s rumors of a box set of Batman movie figures with an Keaton (hopefully 89), Kilmer, Clooney, Bale (hopefully Begins), Affleck (hopefully BvS) and Pattinson. And I heard a rumor about a re release of the Batmobile more dedicated to 89. Which would be nice because well this is highly sought after and I bought three of them, sold one of them for double which basically pays for the two I kept, I don’t know if I wanna keep them. It’s just so close yet, so so far to what I want or what we deserve. The McFarlane Flash Keaton figure is phenomenal. And after seeing the movie last night is by far the best part of the movie, so I love that it’s accurate. But I wonder if they went with gloss on the Batmobile to match the more gloss look of the new suit. But I’m debating on selling my other two Batmobiles. What is the most funny is the spin master 89 one is by far more accurate in terms of shape, canopy, canopy opening, and closing and the matte black it is supposed to be.
3 more inches in width and we would have gotten a 2 seater- its the Kenner era all over again - but the sliding canopy is really good and yah this will definitely be re-released with an 89 keaton-Bats in the future - great review as always
My thoughts exactly on the grey canopy. It is possible this could be reflective of the upcoming movie the same way there's a new Batsuit. And also bear in mind the Batmobile was more or less modified into the Bat Missile when it was last seen and hacked, so upgrades would make sense when it was rebuilt.
FYI. this Batmobile logically has 2 jet engines. One at the front which isn't used for jet thrust instead to drive a prop shaft to the diff and then the rear mounted jet engine with the side intakes feeding it and this oc is used for thrust.
speaking of catalog, I actually kinda miss that buggs bunny daffy duck commercial on the vhs for Batman, that and the diet coke commercial "this black car will be rather difficult to miss!"
I think they homaged the fact that during production of B89 the canopy couldn't be shut entirely because of Batman's ears getting in the way and they had to lower the seat a bit😅 and now we get almost the same scenario with the figure to wiggle back and forth just so the ears don't get in the way of closing the canopy. It's not gonna bother me that much with the slight grey colour. It surely can be repainted/customized to fit the colour scheme. All in all great review. Revives some good old memories from watching the movie
Great review Spot, it's amazing that McFarlane managed to give us a Batmobile in this scale at such an affordable price. Too bad the gun turrets don't open, but it's a great piece nonetheless.
That canopy colour is a dealbreaker for me. I'm not one to repaint stuff for fear of messing it up so yeah, a dealbreaker. What a waste. I'd probably still get it though because it just looks cool overall despite that canopy colour.
It's absurd for Mcfarlane to release a product with a paint problem and expect the customer to fix the mistake and do a repaint. They should collect all these batmobiles and fix the paint and deliver to consumers a decent product.

89 was a 2 seater. The most famous scene is from the 1st movie where he took Vicky Vale to the batcave. It turned into a 2 seater in Batman returns but thay whole sequence was too much disbelief for me to take.
@uknowmyname007 Yeah but when it did it didn't look like it did in its regular condition. Here we have a batmobile that looks like the 2 seater UNTIL you look into the cockpit.
@EnriqueManzanoInHD same Herr. How much would it have cost to make it a little wider/bigger. I would have paid another $25.00 for a 2 seater and them, including the silver gas caps that go on the rear fenders.
Dude your scale is not even showing the 21 inches mark and you say it's 22 inches as it's advertised. I mean it's not really in scale for 1/10 scale which is McFarlane scale, its close to 1:12 but that's too not precise. I agree that what we get at $60 is a good package, but that's it.
Terrible Batmobile. There has GOT to be a story reason why the canopy is different and isn't colour matched (maybe Batmobile hasn't been used after being rebuilt from the Batmissile in Batman Returns?) but looks so cheap. Wheels are completely wrong, the bat emblems stick out way too far, and are the front lights just orange stickers? Wow
